WIP Wednesday - So It Goes Ch.35
Her eyelids felt sluggish as she asked, pinpricks of sweat condensing on her brow. “You Placide?”
Without a word, the butcher shook his head and waved at the large shadow that loomed further back in the room. V brushed past, boots treading tacky along the grimy floor. Metal on metal, the slow scrape of a knife being sharpened got louder, only to stop as the merc rounded the PVC curtain. She saw it coming, but the thwack of the butcher’s blade made V jump.
A trail of crimson meandered its way across the table, staining the feathers of the bird that’d been alive half a second ago. Dark skin disappeared into the confines of a time worn trench coat, old tech wires trailing along the arms of the garment, while black locs cascaded over massive shoulders. A bastion of a man.
Placide didn’t bother to look at her as his deep voice rumbled off sneered lips. “What do you want?”
With a final crunch, the blood-slicked edge of the blade severed bone.
