Occasionally a post crosses my dash that discusses white americans' lack of cultural identity being the price for attaining Whiteness, and I have to wonder how much of that loss of identity factors into the lack of culture in RWBY

#rwde #even if they try to diversify their characters the show is unequivocally inescapably White #from the plots to the characters to the world itself. top to bottom it is White White White #its a passing thought that returns semi regularly #esp when im thinking abt how rwbys problems are always entwined w and reflective of more/bigger problems #and thats exactly what captivates me. i cant move on bc its emblematic of a lot of issues both irl and in media trends #its *fascinating*
