A long baseless rant about Escell Mirun

Allow me to make some headcanon assumptions on Escell after the recent chapters of Felix route

"Escell is an amazing dad who does everything he does for his son" And here is the scenario why

Warning major spoilers that I scrabbed between the lines, if you haven't played, beware, I won't censor anything

We learned in the intro that Escell was once a hero, a powerful mage that saved the world from darkness, before his time as Archmage and before his son and heir was born

We know that Felix died at a young age and was really proclaimed dead before coming back to life.

Now let's drift away from the facts here~~~

Let's assume there was a deal: a desperate father who teleportet to the only person who would be able to save their child. But of cause such a gift comes with a price, a price that might just easily be a service through dept. With Escell being a perfectly capable mage, having him in one's hand will surely prove valuable to the side of evildoings.

With reviving someone or something a connection is born to the master that did the spell, so Felix would become just like another one of the revived corpses at the service of the lord.

So in order for the lord of shadows not to have this type of control over Felix, Escell took it upon himself to bind the boy instead. Working harder and harder to reach the position of the Archmage and get access to so much knowledge what would usually be kept secret. Using that to build a shield between his son and death itself.

This might have been what split the family apart, Escell being obsessed with keeping Felix save, working restlessly, and Florian if he was a botanic sort of might be one of those "stop playing with dark magic and let the dead remain dead" - type of people (I would totally get that mindset, nothing good will come out of dark magic) and with the excessive attention Escell gave his son and a pending paranoia that led to more controlled lives and the neglection of the remaining family members, maybe Florian thought it healthier to take a break with Scylla.

And Rime possibly being related to the lord of shadows (is that too far gone?) and therefore not being welcome in the house Anguis, a threat, even if its to the connection to darkness alone. Escell wanting him as far gone from his son as possible, with Felix infatuation with the ¿fawn/satyr¿ proving to be pretty counterproductive.

Nooooow let me go mad imagining but what if it was Escell who sabotaged whatever Felix was trying to do, when he eventually accidentally killed Rime. What if the spell would have been such a danger to the young boy, that Escell would rather kill his son's "boyfriend" (that he couldn't stand in the first place) rather than risk loosing him to a spell from a book that is clearly evil (excellent idea with the human skin part but oh my gosh that is so disgusting)

All those samples in Escell's drawer are remains of the the young Felix, that had died, of the time before he was revived through necromancy and therefore the only things that stand between Felix and the option of the lord of shadows to use him as just another pawn.

So with Felix destroying all that had remained I can see him getting heavily influenced over the next few chapters with no idea what is happening.

The wine scene might have been Escell trying to drink his sorrows away that come from the realization that the link to Felix is gone and that he lost any control over the situation, and all advantages against the lord of shadows that took years to build up. And now we will slowly but surely see Felix loose control over his condition, given that removing his mark was already drained him so much he was exhausted at the hostel. Surely neither Rime nor the Lord of Shadows will any longer have any trouble of locating the boy
