pokemon anime 1x34-35
so, yeah, we're into a super fillery part of the anime? despite this definitely being the period of time when i was watching the anime as it came out, i genuinely don't remember watching either of these when i was a kid. either because i happened to miss these episodes or because they're just so dang unmemorable. and the latter is actually totally plausible. like, i just watched them and i still legit had to look up what the heck happened in them?
in the first episode ash & co ride some bikes because that's a thing you do in the game & have some trouble with a bike gang because that's a thing that happens in the game. there is a cute little bit where the soundtrack sounds kinda like the music that plays in the game when you're riding your bike. i liked that!
oh, um. i also liked, uh...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
h-h-hi >.> i'm a wimp, crush me maybe?
in the second episode ash & co wander around a creepy mansion & eventually meet a girl who has a ditto. shrug! it does at least have our trio plus the ditto trainer dressing up as team rocket & parodying their motto, which i always love when they do stuff like that.
c-rank for both, because it's the pokemon anime so it's still watchable, it's just pretty meh.
new pokedex entries!

Além da Imaginação (The Twilight Zone) - 1959-1964, Temporada 1, Episódio 34 - Depois do Expediente ("The After Hours")

1x28 Space Race- The Galaxy Warp is introduced (refed in 1x25 Mirror Gem) We learn a little bit about Pearl

1x30 Island Adventure- the Gem Island is introduced, LarsxSadie development. Mostly filler
1x31 Keep Beach City Wierd- Ronaldo’s blog is given more detail. Mostly filler, save for his theory at the end. If you don’t know what I’m talking about watch the ep again and see if anything he says sounds familiar ;)

1x33 Garnet’s Universe- Complete filler
1x34 Watermelon Steven- Steven gains the power to bring plants to life
1x35 Lion 3: Straight to Video- We see the magical dimension inside Lion’s mane and Steven gets to watch Rose’s video. He learns she is part of him. (Arguably you should watch Joking Victim (1x21) to know why he goes to the Big Donut to watch the video)
1x36 Warp Tour- Peridot’s bots make their first appearance, and so does she. (1x28 Space Race referenced through the Crying Breakfast Friends stickers on the warps)
1x37 Alone Together- Steven learns to fuse, Stevonnie is introduced (yay!) and so is Kevin (ugh)

1x40 On the Run- We see the Kindergarden for the first time. We explore Amethyst’s origins, her inner demons, and get hints of gem history
1x41 Horror Club- We get backstory on Lars and Ronaldo and learn a bit about Sadie. LarsxSadie development??? Pretty much filler but still a pretty cool ep
1x42 Winter Forecast- More about Garnet’s future vision. Largely filler. (1x32 and 1x39 help with understanding what’s going on)
1x43 Maximum Capacity- The return of Greg’s storage unit. We get some hints of Greg’s, Rose’s and Amethyst’s backstory. The photo of Greg and Rose that Amethyst frames is a direct refernce to Laser Light Canon (1x2) (1x32 also refernced)

Miss Marsha White on the ninth floor, specialties department, looking for a gold thimble. The odds are that she'll find it—but there are even better odds that she'll find something else, because this isn't just a department store. This happens to be The Twilight Zone.
