i think you are blurring the lines between symbolism and propaganda .. toontown cogs r metaphorical characters who laugh at and imitate the capitalistic dull buisness man type imagery.. if anything, toontown is anti capitalist propaganda for how the cogs are villainized throughout the game for their actions . besides, its a little disrespectful to compare real life colonization to a video game like toontown.. i definetly dont think people who enjoy making content abt cogs or anything deserve that kind of slack

lmao ok so heres the thing

im korean right, and as all koreans do, i have MANY family members who have experienced imperialist oppression under both the japanese and the united states’ neoimperialist project. i know a lot of americans or non-asians in general dont really get taught about this, so im gonna summarize this quickly because im not getting into the absolute horror of it all on my goddamn toontown blog

japan annexes korea in 1910 and violently exploits korean land and labor for 35 years, and along the way they attempt to systematically destroy korean culture, language, and history, down to banning the korean language outright and slaughtering native dogs. as is often the case with the imperialist narrative they adopt a false pretense of “modernizing” the “backwards” koreans. anyway they lose ww2 and we all know how that goes, so south korea is under new management from the united states, who installs or backs a long string of authoritarian dictators who wipe out hundreds of villages in jeju island and shoot protestors post korean war. again, a very rough summary

where im going with this is that with my family history in mind (because all of my grandparents lived through the japanese occupation and korean war and have the stories to prove it), i approach a lot of media asking questions about imperialism and exploitation. yeah including the kids mmo, because theres plenty of things that coincide with these in, admittedly, toned down ways (its a kids game)

clash cogs’ motivation is, as far as im aware, to use toontown’s resources for profit by means of fuel. this reminded me of the way korea suffered under japanese occupation, during which koreans were kidnapped by the government and used as unpaid labor for mining and for manufacturing by companies like mitsubishi, on top of the agricultural exploitation and the theft of korean natural resources for both japanese demand and profit

the rewritten cogs have a slightly different motivation, with the same endgoal. by trying to “convert” toons to coggish practices and trying to get them to stop being toony, its an act of cultural destruction. being toony is part of toon culture, using jellybeans for money and hosting parties and doing slapstick comedy are all important parts of toon culture. the chairman is trying to destroy this. this is what sticks out to me the most, because the colonizing bastards tried to beat the culture out of koreans as a whole, and this is whats always been emphasized in the family stories. you think my grandparents know japanese for the fun of it? no, because they were quite literally forbidden from participating in their own cultural practices because someone thought that their culture was superior to ours.

its disrespectful to compare the lived experiences of my fucking flesh and blood to media i consume? disrespectful to who, anon? to fucking who?

anyway i never said toontown was pro capitalist propaganda what the actual fuck. first off symbolism is often present in propagandistic media pieces, but also more to the point, since i would not call toontown propaganda: no shit theyre representative of capitalists, but the problem with capitalism is that it allows for a system of violent colonialism, exploitation, and displacement in the name of profit, and its natural for this to be evident in media focusing on capitalism. and i said this last time, but i dont have a single goddamn problem with people who like the cogs, but 1. im just a little frustrated 2. yall gotta stop making them the good guys and unironically hoping the chairman wins.

hi!

my guess: definitely feels like it came from the dream thieves and the word "electric" is making me think it's in chapter 27, which is the substance party chapter (is the worry perhaps about being around gansey and kavinsky simultaneously, or the mitsubishi burning?). i suppose this could also be after ronan dreams the replacement camaro later in the book but i think it's less likely. also as i'm reading my answer back to myself i'm realizing i am biased since i literally just finished re-reading tdt and it might be in greywaren when ronan is sleeping and hears adam talking to declan (chapter 9??? whichever the chapter is when adam tells declan he's deaf in one ear) but ALSO this might be in the sweetmetal sea soul merge chapter. oh wow this is exceedingly difficult but very fun to try to figure out. final answer is the sweetmetal sea "reader, i merged souls with him" sequence. which may or may not be greywaren chapter 25. the "through Ronan" is giving me the sense of not being in a physical body and it would be logical for him to be worried about adam being untethered from his body in such uncharted circumstances.

the answer: it is in fact the sweetmetal sea scene when adam scries and his consciousness finds ronan (although the chapter number is 19, not 25). not sure how i stumbled into the right answer but here we are.

my thoughts on this line: i love how ronan's emotions are described as electric (as things that can surge, like power) given his intrinsic tie to ley energy. and while it was a speculation when i was guessing, i think the fact that ronan (rather than his body) is mentioned emphasizes the fact that he's in his most greywaren-like form, which makes me think back to the dream thieves and how we learn that ronan is both dangerous and beautiful (and manifests both danger and beauty). here, we see him in an otherworldly form but with intense human emotions. the way he swings from worry to joy feels very in character for him, and we learn why his emotions are so intense and all-consuming in the same book. i think it's particularly apt for his feelings regarding adam, specifically, to embody electricity and power given symbols and plot points in trc (the thunder and lightning in the dream thieves, adam essentially rewiring the ley line to give ronan the brief moment of time necessary for ronan to decide to save himself, etc.). the joy is because adam has "come all this way" to find him in the sweetmetal sea, because ronan no longer feels abandoned. he's like a dog with separation anxiety who destroys the house and then jumps for joy when its owner gets home, as if they never left.

i know this chapter gets a lot of criticism for evading what could have been a more satisfying conversation between ronan and adam re: their relationship and i do agree. greywaren could have been 100+ pages longer imo. i think there should have been more writing devoted to better resolution of character arcs and more thorough exploration of interpersonal relationships.

HOWEVER i do really enjoy the chapter itself, even if it's a symptom of greywaren's main weakness as a series finale. i like how adam embraces ronan's eldritch self so readily. i love the refrain of they were wanted, they were wanted, they were wanted. i think it's wild how integral they are to each other's sense of integrated self (this is terribly unhealthy but fascinating to read about). i think due to personal problems the lack of verbal communication is actually kind of appealing in isolation even if i don't condone it. i am thinking about how ecstatic ronan is when adam is with him and how despondent he gets when adam's not and how there's some emotional object permanence issues going on here that i'm a little scared of thinking about. i'm getting off track here but at some point i imagine my focus will shift from trc to td3 and i'll do a much more thorough analysis of the chapter beyond this line/my general opinion.

Mark July 1, 2024 on your calendar since this day signals the unification of RFID cards currently in use by tollways in Luzon. It means that only a single RFID card will activate and hoist the bar as the tollway operators will go cash-less at the same time for a seamless travel system.

The so-called “Toll Collection Inter-Operability” has begun its test run, with only selected vehicles taking part Wednesday last week in the North Luzon Expressway (NLEX), South Luzon Expressway (SLEX), Skyway, Manila-Cavite Expressway (Cavitex) and Cavite-Laguna Expressway Calax).

Like hitting the proverbial “two birds with one stone,” Mitsubishi Motors has launched a nationwide campaign celebrating the Filipino spirit of adventure and its 60th anniversary as well.

The double- barreled move, Mitsubishi says, is a way to promote the “Instagram-able” tourist spots and at the same time crow about the features of its vehicles that have given it the top 2 ranking, next only to Toyota in terms of sales nationwide.

By this time, the TARALETS PINAS campaign shall have rolled out in certain provinces — Bacolod, Guimaras, Iloilo, Pampanga, South Cotabato, Davao, Cebu, Kalinga, Baguio, Bontoc, Siquijor.

With every episode showcasing the rich and colorful heritage and culture of each province, motoring enthusiasts are invited to make their journey better and more exhilarating with — what else, but – Mitsubishi autos.

Backstopping the campaign is an interactive website which features helpful information on destinations, road trip itineraries, and food trip tips. Motorists, their families and friends will do well to share their travel stories, experiences, and photos. MMTC President & CEO Takeshi Hara said during the campaign launch, “We encourage Filipinos to pack their bags, fuel up their Mitsubishi vehicles, and embark on their own TARALETS PINAS adventure. Mitsubishi Electric, HACARUS To Expand AI Visual-inspection Business

HACARUS Corporation and Mitsubishi Electric Corporation have extended their partnership to create AI-driven visual inspection software for the industrial industry. Mitsubishi Electric will acquire an equity interest in HACARUS as part of the arrangement. By utilizing the assets and technological capabilities of both businesses, the collaboration seeks to optimize joint technological and commercial potential.

Mitsubishi Electric intends to take advantage of HACARUS' experience to expedite the development and delivery of integrated and automated AI-based visual-inspection solutions. It is anticipated that these solutions will assist clients in raising overall productivity and manufacturing quality. One of HACARUS's products is HACARUS Check, a visual-inspection tool with a special, portable AI. Through the partnership, HACARUS will also have access to Mitsubishi Electric's vast domestic and international sales network.

Mitsubishi Electric released MELSOFT VIXIO, a visual inspection program with artificial intelligence (AI) based on the company's exclusive Maisart AI technology, in December 2023. The goal of this software is to increase industrial quality by automating visual inspection procedures. By automating production lines, it tackles the problem of a worker shortage in the manufacturing industry.

The Group President of Mitsubishi Electric's Factory Automation Systems Group, Toshie Takeuchi, emphasized the significance of tackling the major issues that contemporary society faces. Due to a labor scarcity, production lines are becoming more automated, but many visual checks are still done by hand. Mitsubishi Electric will be better able to respond to client needs as a result of its partnership with HACARUS, especially when it comes to tackling the manpower crisis in the manufacturing industry.
