Given how stoic the other looked, it was quite a rarity for her to say such things -- particularly when it came to other people. In fact, Ryo found it difficult to know whether Ema was being blunnt or being sincere with her words. But perhaps, with how close the summoner was with her (thanks to Gin), it could be the latter.
