Thinking about Nocturne and growing up in a castle where all the guards we're predominantly intimidating and scary to outsiders simply because Ganondorf demanded actual competent guards. He heard how Hyrules guards used to be, the rumors thrown across dinner tables and behind closed doors, he refuses to have such a pathetic army guarding the strongest kingdom known to man.
Which is how Nocturne grows up with darknuts practically everywhere but especially as personal guards. They're notoriously known for being silent and scarily loyal as guards, barely moving while on post and attacking with a terrifying viciousness when spurred into action. Nocturne knows this, he's sneaked behind Zelda into far to many training grounds just to watch the beautiful sword work that's now being trained to hyrules soldiers. But also like,,, Nocturne is the prince, one of the only princes Hyrule has ever seen, and he's just enamored with the darknut guards.
So much so that he might've... left his gerudo guards oversight, somehow escaped more than half the castle, and attached himself to the soldiers trainer. Somehow even *more* terrifying than most but at the sight of the prince being loose in the castle with not a guard in sight? Ganondorf is notoriously known to be paranoid and despite being widely respected- every well-versed soldier knows that Ganondorf doesn't even trust his own halls with the prince and princess. So, the sight of the prince looking up in wonder and making grabby hands at the oversized sword attached to their hip is... concerning. Darknuts don't typically talk, only commonly talking to fellow darknuts and the king himself or clipped instructions to training soldiers. If he hasn't been noticed as missing they would be sorely surprised, if they focused hard enough they could probably hear the furious clicks of gerudo heels on the polished floor.
But, the prince isn't leaving and now has a small hand on the sharp blade of the sword-
"Young sir, please do not touch that, you could get gravely hurt with such a weapon." The silence is broken and the princes face lights in wonder at rhe gravely voice that escapes.
"It's so cool looking! It looks like one of Ganon's swords, well kinda, is it heavy? Can I hold it? Please?" The princes golden hair clashes heavily with the black metal that reflects the sunset light through the stained windows and the curious sky blue eyes. A boy colored with all the colors of the bright, untouched summer sky, but named under the pristine white of the full moon. They let themselves smile to themselves at the odd contradiction as they lean down, armor clicking together as they lift the prince, Nocturne, prince Nocturne.
So frighteningly small compared to their stature made up of unflinching metal colored with the hues of a thundering sky.
"I'm sorry young sir, you cannot hold it, I can not allow you to be hurt under my care." A small huff leaves the young boy as he brings his hands to fiddle with the helmets latches and traces the thin golden details. The boy says nothing else, seemingly entertained at playing with the many latches and giggling from being at such a tall height. On cue a handful of gerudo guards appear from the shadows, a slight note of worry drawn over their expression that calms at the sight of the prince smiling down at them. The prince is an effortless weight, but one that's far heavier than the sword on their waist as the prince happily leans into the seemingly superior gerudo guard, a nod of respect and recognition as a whisper of thanks is passed in the open air.
Bright crimson hair spills over his own golden locks and the image of the sunset is so blinding that they're relived that the helmet hides their closed eyes. But they open them just in time to see the little prince, the young sir, happily waving as he's easily carried back to the castles upper chambers. The boy made of sunshine and light named under the soft glow of the moon, there's a reason he's so beloved and cherished within the walls of hyrule.
