fame au lore dump wheee

ive been planning it alot and the au is no where near done, but i want to show you guys what we have right now. i say we because im considering it a collab between me, @/bonnieiscool (using his oc (there'll be more), and story planning) and @/bugwz (making refsheets)!!

a few CWs right out the gate: this au covers some very heavy subjects, such as toxic relationships, substance abuse, self-destruction, and, well, death.

so here's the rundown and some sketches:

over a decade ago, edd, matt, tom and tord formed a sludge metal band, having developed a slow, melancholy but powerfully gritty style. their band name has changed many times since the inception, but they now go by the sludgecans. the group was gaining success on an upward trajectory and for a while, it was great! but then, a very public freak accident took the life of tord, the band's drummer. from then, their fall from grace was a slow, painful downward spiral.

currently, edd, matt, and tom are living in a 4-bedroom apartment building with hopes of finding a permanent 4th member, but the candidates never stick around too long. they deal with what you'd expect of washed up celebrities: rumors, extremely mixed receptions at whatever gigs they can get, and so much invasive media coverage.

most people don't like the bandmates, they just dabble in their music or tolerate them in whatever shoddy gigs they can still get. however, their most loyal fans say that the strife they've gone through as a band adds to their truly unique sound. "there's nothing else like it."

edd has the stage name podge, as a reference to the fact he's the glue barely holding the group together. he refuses to acknowledge this band isn't healthy for any of them anymore, the jam sessions they had as teens are long gone. he keeps things together by simply hoping the glaring problems will go away, obviously a terrible mindset. he cares about his friends but his actions absolutely don't show it. he can't bear to see them break up.

tom (aka checkers, which he hates,) is really not doing well. he deals with his demons in really bad ways (like turning to smirnoff and locking himself in his room.) it doesn't help that gossip journalists won't stop coming around to ask him about his thoughts on matt's hookups... it really nails it in for him. he's in an endless cycle of breaking up, crying it out and crawling back to matt.

matt, who goes by rose matte as a stage name, plays into the vampire thing a lot with his tats and outfits. his family was well off so he's into the finer things in life. he's terrified of commitment, once he gets into a serious relationship he doesn't like the idea that he wouldn't be able to keep his options open anymore, and yet he's in an on again off again relationship with tom. it is quickly apparent that he's incredibly toxic.

oh boy, tord...

i don't have a stage name for him yet, but he was the 4th member until he was crushed by a stage light at a live performance. he and edd had feelings for one another, but didn't get together while tord was alive. edd has a lot of regrets now, often speaking to tord while he's alone as if he's there. these would also be the only moments where edd sheds his optimistic front.

don't worry, ringo doesn't get the angst treatment. she's an old girl but she's still there, usually hanging out with edd since tom isolates himself and she doesn't like matt.

now here's a character specifically for this au: susan. she's tom's ex, former bandmate, and the namesake of his bass. they've both moved on from the band they got their start in, though she felt bad about the fact the sludgecans have comparatively fallen on hard times.

she'll play a major role in the story, coming back to help the band members work through their issues and find some joy in their lives again. especially tom, since he has many more demons now than when they were dating.

there's still alot more for me to do, references to be made, stories to finish planning, and eventually the comic to draw.

I'm a freak by many a name. But I go by Soda, Cece, Admin, Ary, Xefros, Sol and Rezi mostly. Seriously. Any of those will do. Hell, I'll take new names aswell. Drop them name recommendations lmao

I'm 14 aswell, in Year 10. (I chose Triple Science, French and History if you wanted to know about my GCSE choices.)

I'm a lesbian and agender, which basically is me saying my gender changes for when it's funniest.

I use ALLLL the pronouns, even xenos and neos because I am badass and awesome. Literally anything goes.

I'm Scottish and Irish. Which is kinda cool, means I burn hella easy though which sucks ass.

I'm also autistic, I like to post about that.

I also also have depression and anxiety, I don't really care though because I'm balling 24/7 B)

Youkai Watch is also a big fav of mine. In fact, Youkai Watch 3 is one of my favourite games of all time!

I absolutely ADORE A Hat in Time! It is THE game for me. It means the world and everything to me.

Alongside AHIT, Undertale and Deltarune are some of my favs ever! (I don't cry everytime I replay UT what do you mean?)

I don't often watch many series or movies. But there's a special place in my heart for Invader Zim, The Owl House, It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, Eddsworld and My Little Pony. I'm also super excited for the new Scott Pilgrim show :D

It's strange to say but I have a keen interest in reality shows. This means Gogglebox, Come Dine with Me, Four in a Bed, Kitchen Nightmares (both versions) and Impractical Jokers. Only the lord knows why. I think it's the autism. It's probably the autism.

I'm a fan of Pretty Cure aswell! Those girls are so beegitful <3 in those dresses... Yes I found out about it through Glitter Force but that doesn't change anything. Another anime I also love is Pop Team Epic that show irreversibly changed my sense in humour.

I also adore!!! Vocaloid it literally makes up 50% of my music taste. I black out and wake up with 20 new pieces of miku merch lmao

Music

I have a lot of different music interests! But my all time favourite band ever is Qbomb! I adoreeeee them to infinity. I literally don't know what my favourite Qbomb song is because they're all so good.

But! Qbomb doesn't have my fav song, that honour goes to Stacked Like Pancakes and their song SFDD. It's a really high energy ska song that I recommend highly. (You won't regret listening to it!)

10. What do you think is the funniest joke in the series?

Damn, that’s a GOOD question. So much so that I had look back on a couple eddisodes to make me think, but here’s my response.

I think it’s in the comics.

Not that the show doesn’t have some great jokes, but the funniest of them for me are within the comics. Specifically with Edd’s last era prior to Space Face releasing, and a little into the start of Legacy. They were how I got into Eddsworld in the first place.

A good chunk of my improvised humour was learned from Edd’s ability to make anything a visual or linguistic pun. I get more of a chuckle out of stuff such as ‘immature cheese’, ‘wrapper in my pocket’, ‘Dr Names’ and that one arc of Matt getting an honest-to-god date.

That being said, I loved seeing Tom getting spun around and yeeted by that tank in the Moviemakers montage. Also, from the end of said montage:

Laurel: I wonder what happened to all those space cats... Edd: Well, do you see that tiny speck up in the sky? Laurel: Yeah? Edd: That isn’t them. They’re dead.

Edd’s delivery of that line legit makes me crack a grin and chuckle.

17. Which Eddsworld character do you relate to the most, and why?

Again, good question.

After thinking on it a bit, I think it’d still be Edd, and not just because he’s my favourite.

In the classic era, he’s the artist/animator, the one who initiates the initiative of the episodes and is simultaneously DONE with his friends’ antics AND eggs them on further.

Sounds like my kind of guy.

(Actually, on a writer’s note, Edd taking the initiative for adventures is what I think has been missing from much of Legacy AND Beyond’s writing. He took the initiative to go to Atlantis when Matt lost the fridge keys, and when Tom bought that film camera with all their life savings, he took the initiative of making a film instead of just relying on a 2008 YouTube clickbait video Tom made. His friends started it, sure, but EDD was the one who kept saying ‘alright, let’s go get this stuff done’ AND DID IT.)

(I think I could write a whole thing on how this is really the show’s Writing Engine, and how it started to vanish circa Hammer and Fail Part Two and Space Face, but that’s another day. Or time. Or ask. Speaking of writing…)

18. If you could write an episode, what would it be about?

Oh BOY. Buckle up, I’ve got several ideas swirling in my head and I’m about to pitch them - hell, if any of you think they have standing power, hit me up and we can figure out a way to team up and make them exist!

Suction Cup Man vs Tord’s Giant Robot. It’s a more fully fleshed-out version of the voice-acting post I did for a skit a while back, and I’m unashamed to say that it’s a roughly copied plot of SCM 2 (including references to it and all).

Suction Cup Man gets captured by a mystery man from the future to take down some jerk’s giant robot in the present. Cut to The End Part Two with Tord gloating in the giant robot, and it all goes to chaos from here.

Fun fact about this one: I’ve already handwritten most of the script’s first draft, and have three different endings planned out, but I’m not sure which one would be best for the skit. They’re all good in their own ways, but whilst I had the initial idea to PrynceJJayden of twitter fame, I’m not sure if he’d be accepting of script pitches from other people at this point in time. On top of that, I don’t know if his VA talent who does Tord (@/The_Rey_Rey on twitter) would be keen to do that sort of thing too.

PowerEdd 2: The Devious Drenchings of Doctor H2O. (Formerly titled The Eddvengers, but considering there’s an AU with that name already, this seems more appropriate.)

When a freak science experiment near the antiques store strikes the lads, Edd’s superhero powers return, and this time Tom and Matt join with their own. But their enemy isn’t an evil director or an old friend, but some maniac with a drinking water tank on his head and a desire to sink London into his New Atlantis.

If the name ‘Doctor H2O’ sounds familiar to some of you, he was actually a villain character Edd Gould created! You can find an uncoloured drawing of him from Edd’s old tumblr from about 2011.

This story idea also has some meat to it - lore pages on how their powers worked, old script bits, writing ideas - with the intention of becoming an audio drama as so not to stress out animators. I still have the notebook I scrawled the idea out in from years ago, and I even had some concept art from current-day EW animator Fran Pun!

Unfortunately, as much as the more influential people behind the first attempt had resources, fame and means to make it, this one fell onto the back burner due to unclear plot beats (my fault), no scheduling (this was just a bad habit in general from said people) and one of my co-writers just… not going anywhere with it. Some jokes from him felt a little forced. Gratefully though, I still have the intro scene script somewhere in my drives, and I think it holds up. I’d love to come back to this one someday.

Miniseries: Through the Time Machine

Saloonatics had the Wild West, WTFuture gave us time travel, so what if we went back and forth in time to find our favourite lads having adventures in other points of history?

Before Penguins of Madagascar was my first fandom experience, Phineas and Ferb was my first Fan experience, even just from mostly flash games online and watching the episodes in pieces on YouTube. But what I remembered most was a miniseries of specials where the formula for the show was translated into different time periods and story genres to give a unique flavouring to the stories.

So come on, imagine: Eddsworld Caveman episode. Eddsworld pirates episode. Eddsworld Medieval episode. Even an Eddsworld Y2K Futurism… future… episode. (Look, all I’m saying is that the aesthetic could SLAP.)

Would there be an overarching plot? Not really, they could just be for fun! And I’d love to throw my hat in the ring to try it out. It’d be so much fun!

Tbatf Callout

This is a collection of over 20+ people, with their own stories and issues with the creators of TBATF.

TBATF is a popular eddsworld comic with a huge fanbase. Of course, these people who all chose to remain anonymous to avoid being attacked and harassed came together and decided enough was enough. We want to make this clear, we aren't jealous of their fame, or who they interact with. We aren't jealous of their fans. We are concern individuals, who either been hurt, shunned and/or manipulated. We weren't lurking in the shadows and we certainly aren't liars. Everything posted below is the truth share between-now friends. Now you have the right to take what we say with a grain of salt but we assure you we aren't lying. For this reason, we will not be referencing anything from the official TBATF comic. The issues with the comic itself are purely speculation and humor is different for everyone.

What we want from doing this post, is that we all as fans learn to not blindly follow others, and understand that even our favorite people can do horrible things. We don't want a fandom war, we don't want people being hurt or attacked over their decision after reading this. It just to get the truth out.

This is Jax, one of the creators of TBATF personal discord, and this was her message to this ex-fan. This is horrible, this is disgusting. No matter what, that was a line she decided to cross. Now it's well known, Jax is in her later 20's. Jax is in control of her own actions, and mature enough to know that this is wrong, but she sent it anyway. Now you can say "but maybe they deserve that message". No. They did nothing, and here what happen before Jax sent this.

We have cut out our friend name for their safety, and Eli is a fake name for the sake of avoiding any harassing. This person did nothing wrong, we aren't even sure why Jax was so angry to even start attacking this person. But this is disgusting and shame on her, for thinking she could ever send this to someone.

Manipulation Intentional or not, manipulation can be severely damaging to everybody's mentality and the people around them. One big red flag of manipulation is changing the story and bringing out what seems like "love" and "support" when people start calling you out for bad behaviors. You ever hear the phrase "I didn't mean it, you know I love you"? That is one of the most common manipulation tactics that we see going through the posts that the crew of TBATF has pushed out.

Once criticizing becomes too hard for the crew to bare, they often send out what they call a heartfelt post of "we love you all and don't believe what other people are saying about us" type of post. These contribute to them not only guilt-tripping their audiences to be on their side. When this offense is repeated, it shows that the crew knows exactly what they're doing is wrong and gathers "supporters" who know absolutely nothing about the full situation and only knows what the TBATF crew tells them.

According to Psychology Today, "guilt trips are a form of verbal or nonverbal communication in which a guilt inducer tries to induce guilty feelings in a target, in an effort to control their behavior. As such, guilt trips are a clear form of psychological manipulation and coercion." In other words, guilt-tripping is the conscious act of forcing your feelings into other people in order to control their decisions and behavior patterns. You control them like sheep and not letting the audience choose their own sides when all the evidence is placed on the table.

On the site "Learning Mind", we learn that there are a few ways that we as a group can recognize blatant guilt-tripping. One of the big ones is the seventh one that is listed "7. You don’t feel as if you can say ‘No’." When it comes to the conditions that TBATF layout, they have strict rules and a narrow mindset, these are big creators that have in the past lashed out at other creators that had different harmless viewpoints. To them, agree to disagree doesn't exist and they don't seem to put those viewpoints past the person in front of them. When younger children interact with these people (we know their fanbase are younger kids) they want to live up to their expectations and don't seem to look at their idol's awful behaviors and instead of blinding themselves to a toxic idolization of a toxic person. It happens often with big YouTubers who have either done appalling things or started dreadful trends.

Anti-Ship/Anti-Fandom

The main rule enforced in the servers any of the creators are mods or admins in having this one rule in common. No Shipping

However, as most know, this is a rule they've been well known for breaking, as long as it's not two men or two women. In their server, they have a strict no ship rule. Which we are aganist, but not for their reason of "avoiding ship wars". The problem is how they do handle the issue when ships is brought up. There a correct way and wrong way of coming at it.People who post art have to do this

or else they get gang on and harassed and their content deleted if the boys are close together or something stupid like that.

They act like people who draw or write these ships or different fanon ideas as...kinda bad people.

They seem to act that if you don't follow eddsworld canon, you aren't in the right and people who have interacted with them, came forward and said they felt bad for shipping or for liking certain characters. It's dishearting to hear from people you look too, saying how awful certain things you enjoy when the things you enjoy aren't bad. Shipping isn't bad as long as you respect others. If you ship and someone else doesn't, then that's okay. If you have a headcanon and someone else doesn't, also okay. As long as it isn't a problematic trope, then go for it. But these creators don't seem to understand this, and instead attack and belittle.

Now they used to have blog, which they consider their steampunk au. In said au, each of the boys, or how they phrase it, their ancestors (while completely identical to the main characters with altered outfits), have a female partner. Three of them are white, except for Tord's wife, who is a whitewashed Japanese character.

The main focus will now be on her, as she is the most problematic. When Tord is portrayed, he is seen as a cheater, along with the other boys every once in a while. When asked why he doesn't get a divorce, he gets a gun put to his head, and states she is the daughter of the leader of the mafia and would kill him if he even tried. They are still portrayed as very sexual with each other, almost ignoring the fact Tord is not willingly with her. It also pushes some stereotypes (usually European) of violent and forceful Asian people, while highly sexualizing her. When cosplayed, she is always depicted as a white woman, as long as she has a large bust. They don't mind this ship and don't get on people either when they ship Eduardo and Laurel. So what assumption are we suppose to make? Hetero ships is fine, but if we make it same-sex couple it's bad?

(This isn’t true in our experience and were all in many servers? This is a trick to try to sell their nonshipping in rule. Like look what happens if we don’t have this rule, the fandom is nasty and horrible and we’re the only safe place)

There still a lot of issues but we figure to end it here and be open to discussion. It took a lot to even decide to get to this point and we want the truth to be out. We're tired of being label as liars, people who are jealous, haters, etc. Please don't harass anyone, and don't send hate to each other. Thank you for your time.

Eddsworld Borderlands AU = BORDERWORLD (aka, a bunch of chaotic stupid boys go Vault hunting to forget how fucked up their lives are)

Edd - thirsty for adventure and treasure and fame, also soda, weirdly immune to toxins, likes to steal things and cheat at card games, very competitive, always gives a different answer when people ask him about his past, will kill to protect cats, unofficial leader, eats things he probably shouldn’t

Matt - looks and acts like a rich snob and likes the finer things in life, enjoys treasure hunting more, camping and wilderness survival expert, hates bandits and Scavs for what they did to him, has so many trench coats, layers because he sunburns, probably the only one keeping these idiots alive

Tom - Pandoran native, rumored to have been a Hyperion experiment that escaped (he will neither confirm nor deny this), lives with a pack of Skags, doesn't understand how Tord could do that to himself, stinky boy who never bathes and is always drunk, no his cyber bits can’t come off they are grafted into and under his skin and it sucks major balls

Tord - fascinated by robotics and cybernetics, traveled to Pandora to join Hyperion but got distracted and never made it, gleefully steals from Hyperion instead cause they’re assholes, built his own limbs and eye and is constantly fiddling with them, drives Tom nuts by trying to inspect Tom's cybernetics, might be a little too enamored with bombs and explosions

So uhhhhh............ Just read it

ttxokay so it’s like, 11 pm and i should really sleep but i cant because i swear to fucking god im obsessed with eddsworld. anyway, i dont have any followers and im lonely asf but here’s some fucking idea i have and yknow what IM GONNA MAKE A FAN COMIC BETTER THAN TBATF. im thinking that i can get a website to put it on if i get enough support and help with it but i doubt i’ll get much help. i might tag some people in this but i dont expect them to reply or see it since they’d probably want money for it or something. i just want to make a good comic and have fun with it but i literally can’t do it all on my own and expect to finish it. here are my ideas, one of them being pretty laid back so im not sure if it compares to TBATF: 1) Basically the end has already happened and since Tord has failed to get his Giant Robot back in one piece, he quits being a leader in shame, giving his position to a high ranked soldier by the name of Luke Adell (OC). After becoming homeless and roaming the streets on his own, Edd spots him while shopping, and takes him into his apartment. After apologizing to his friends, Tord becomes a part of the crew again, but things eventually turn sour once Luke begins to do what Tord had originally wanted to do- Take over the world. Now Tord, Tom, Matt and Edd have to try and destroy the Red army, or as it is now called, the Blood Army (i cant think of better names). 2) Edd, Tom and Matt continue to go on adventures without Tord and things seem pretty normal. This one is pretty laid back and is a fan version of how the show may be continuing to help those who are anticipating the actual series. 3) Similar to idol anime, the boys who are all misfits in high school, decide to create a band for a school talent show. After winning the show they begin to gain fame all around the world. I’d call this the Rockstar au and I already have some designs in mind, this one is the most developed of my ideas because I actually thought about making actual songs for the comic since I write music in my free time. Edd would be the lead singer, Tom would play his bass, Matt would be the backup singer/ dancer and Tord would play the drums and occasionally a dj. Those are my ideas! I’m not sure how to spread the word on this so im gonna at least tag my inspirations and hopefully they can at least give me some tips. If anyone wants to help contribute to creating a comic out of all of these ideas please dm me and/or repost this! I also have a discord that I can send to you if you need to talk in a better way. Here are my inspirations, and I hope they can help me or give me tips. I felt really awkward putting them here because they’re pretty fucking popular. @xoche
