i mean im not saying "oh get these bootlegs outta here!!" i just dont see the point more or less. video games are expensive and precious why would i want to buy a buncha games that are kinda like a series i love when i can just play the series i love
idk i feel like a lot of devs these days kinda try too hard to be a series they arent instead of making their own unique things. its good to take inspiration but so many games feel like theyre trying to replace or rival another series and its boring actually
i also think if a game is so obsessed with trying to be another series, it ends up being really bad because all it ends up doing is loosely echoing the originals gameplay and nothing else. it doesnt have the passion and heart that made the original so special, nor does it try to have its own unique world and characters. think of the hundreds of indie games desperately trying to be the next earthbound. theyre all so obsessed with trying to be earthbound they dont get what made earthbound so special was its own original fun ideas
shout out to undertale though. undertale does it right. like yeah its clearly inspired by earthbound but it does its own thing and has its own gameplay and world and characters and feels completely different. undertale is the right way to make these kinds of games

WE'RE BACK!! 🌏🚀
Mother Odyssey has always been a project that I really enjoyed working on (even if I never found any use for it). I like creating stories, and the Mother series has always been something that inspired me to be more creative with the stories I liked to tell.
I haven't found a use for this project yet, but I'll continue sketching ideas based on what I've been enjoying lately, such as games, books, series and films that inspire me.
My goal was never to make Mother Odyssey a JRPG game, as I think there are already a lot of these ideas that are being executed very well and that I couldn't add. None of this will be paid for and is in no way intended for profit. I want you to know that I'm just a guy who really likes the Mother/Earthbound series, and who would like to contribute something to this small, but very united and active community.
I hope I can create something different for Mother Odyssey, and I'm counting on your help to give me ideas and more to share. Thank you very much and, if everything goes well, I'll see you soon!! ❤️

RYMDEN - Valleys and Mountains
After their previous excursions into the outer cosmos - the highly acclaimed studio albums "Reflections and Odysseys", "Space Sailors" and the powerful live album "RYMDEN+KORK" - RYMDEN have returned to Earth with their new album, “Valleys and Mountains”. However, as one might expect from the trio of Bugge Wesseltoft, Magnus Öström and Dan Berglund, the music is not strictly earthbound - the inner cosmos, dreams and visions offer new spaces to explore, alongside bucolic rambles and treks. The instrumentation and techniques are once again diversified, the styles multiplied; yet all remains indisputably the music of RYMDEN.
There is a dual sense of nostalgia and hope for the future, a feeling of rediscovery replacing loss. There is an awareness of the natural world and our place within it, the part it plays in our lives, and how our lives are simply part of something greater than ourselves.

Fuck it, Lifelight ask time to help give me motivation to work on redesigns.
This is basically a Smash Bros au which technically is its own story and universe, but the Smash roster (and a couple others!) are the characters.
The hardest part is making each character unique and giving them all a character arc or something like that, so information about the personality of any fighters that aren’t from Legend of Zelda, Pokémon, Mario, Animal Crossing, Splatoon, or Minecraft would be greatly appreciated, because these are the only games/series I’m familiar with (I know a fair bit about the Kirby and Earthbound series, but I’ve never played any of the ganes).
So literally just talk to me or ask me about the Lifelight versions of anybody on the roster (including alts like Leaf, the Koopalings, etc.) as well as some other characters that will be in the story but aren’t on the roster:
Dark Link (Legend of Zelda series- specifically OoT)
Nemona (Pokémon Scarlet and Violet)
Six (Little Nightmares series)
Marx (Kirby series)
Pauline (Super Mario series- specifically Odyssey)
This would definitely help me get motivation to work on this. I won’t be making this into a comic or a fanfic or anything like that, it’s just something I’d like to doodle and talk about.
