Here's a fanart inspired by the eternally delightful fic "dogs in a cradle, birds on a string" by @iwantoseeafrigatebird
Such amazing fluff, I've re-read it several times. It's the letting someone into your space and letting them help you. It's the helping someone grow and accept themselves. It's the gentleness and closeness and oh my god i have to shut up now or I never will.
Here it is:

The Terror’s doctors (and one (1) surgeon) and their shark familiars. Dr Stanley doesn’t like his shark and that is both a symptom & aggravating factor of his general depression.

thinking about henry collins and how his character is so deeply changed by his traumatic experiences... in the first episode, the very first dialogue we hear on the ships is henry collins giving billy orren orders with a smile and pat on the back. and when he's about to go down in the diving suit and explaining what his signals will mean, his voice and tone is confident and eloquent and commanding and he enunciates each word like he's used to giving orders. but afterwards, when we see him talking to dr stanley, and later after carnivale when he talks to goodsir, he mumbles and stutters and drifts off mid-sentence, can't make eye contact, constantly fidgets... his speech becomes almost childlike. and then it all ends with him drinking the coca wine and entering a euphoric silly state where he's barely aware of his surroundings and has no sense of self-preservation. idk he's just changed so much by his experiences and it's shown so well

Currently getting emotional over this paragraph from one of Dr. Goodsir’s chapters in The Terror (the book version):
“With the Exception of brothers serving together on this Expedition  -- and Thomas Hartnell lost his older brother on Beechy Island -- there are no relatives who will ever come out here on the ice or onto this Terrible Island of wind, snow, ice, lightning, and fog. There is no one to identify us when we fall, much less Bury us“ (chp. 33, p.440)
Because Robert Goodsir -- Harry Goodsir’s little brother -- did go to the Arctic to look for the Franklin Expedition. But the search parties that he was a part of never made it as far as King William’s Island. He never found his brother.
And while one of the two bodies found and brought back to England in 1869 is most likely Harry Goodsir’s, that fact wasn’t discovered until 2009 -- before then, it was thought to be Lieutenant Henry Le Vesconte’s body. Robert Goodsir and the rest of their family wouldn’t have known they’d found Harry’s body. They wouldn’t have known they brought him back.

the terror fix it fic idea, a spirit haunts the two ships, trying to warn them of their doom, but can only speak things that have been said in the show
===
"There has been talk amongst the crew of spirits." Ice Master Thomas Blanky says to Capt. Francis Crozier, whilst the two of them are alone on the upper deck.
"Spirits?"
"They say it does not have a form. It cannot be seen. But it makes itself heard." Thomas continues. "Using the voices of others."
"And you believe these claims?" Francis asks.
Thomas sees right through him. "Don't you?"
"I do." Francis's voice replies, but it does not come from the Captain's mouth. The spirit speaks like the thunderclap of a brewing storm.
His eyes widen in shock. "I - I - That was not - "
Thomas nods, understanding. He turns to face where the sound came from. "What do you want with us?"
.
The spirit first speaks to Assistant Surgeon Henry Goodsir, whilst he is checking on the stores.
"Wait, Doctor Goodsir." Lt. Graham Gore says, his voice like wind.
Harry whirls around, expecting someone to have entered the room. When he looks, the door remains shut and he is alone.
"Hello?" he asks the empty room. Lt. Gore must be on the other side of the door, then, if he cannot see him."Come in...?"
Silence greets him. The creaking ship is the only thing he hears. Harry starts to think nothing of it when -
"Run!"
The voice, not Gore's this time, is startlingly close to his ear, almost as if right next to him. He jumps about a foot into the air, before tripping and falling to the ground.
He chalks it up to a hallucination until, a week later, David Young screams that same word before he dies. It is with the same horror and cadence as he heard it a week prior.
He does not tell a soul about this.
===
The lines the spirit used were
in "punished, as a boy", crozier says "I'd make you happy. I do make you happy."
in "gore" gore says "There's nothing more natural than pulling weight, Dr. Goodsir." which goodsir mishears as "wait"
in "go for broke" david young says "Run! Run! He wants us to run!" as his dying words
