Door #7
Panamá
Panama
Post escrito por Marcelo / Post written by Marcelo
A nossa escolha: avião.
Porta #8, ‘Estamos listos!’.

Panama
It was on this Southern country, located on the isthmus that connects North and South America, and after crossing the border of Costa Rica by foot and backpacks in our backs, that we felt that we were ready for the next door, Colombia / South America.
We wanted to cross the border Panama and Colombia, by foot, car or bus, but during the journey we discovered it would be difficult, because the jungle is so dense in this region and also we could find out some potential and dangerous scenarios along the way. We had two choices: plane or boat. Our choice: plane. The cheapest and safetiest choice.
Panama, in one way is a rich country, it’s nature is extremely beautiful and green, and contains a tremendous biodiversity. On the other side, if we look at the cities we can feel the opposite: trash on the streets, people sunk in their vices and problems, poverty and pollution. The capital is called Panama City and is considered the ‘Dubai of the Americas’, it makes sense.
We visited David City and Los Cangilones de Guacala in Chiquirí Province, west of the country. In the capital city we visited Casco Viejo, cultural and historical part of the capital, and the Seafood Market. Other refererences of the capital are chaos in the streets. It was really tiring for us.
The most fascinating in this country is the beauty of the native Indians with their costumes and traditional habits, walking though the city, ‘mixed’ with the people who live there. Actually we don’t know if they (native Indians) are really happy in these circunstances, but we enjoyed it.
In this country, we met people ‘like us´, travelers, all with the same intentions, to be there and make the country the bridge crossing to another destination and together we shared many experiences.
Door #8, We are ready! / ‘Estamos listos!’.
