Gerard was out last night! Out of his cave straight to a death metal dungeon concert.

The Devil Master (who opened for My Chemical Romance on the Return/Swarm tour) singer posted a picture with him 🖤

Someone from another band mentioned that he was there and talked a bit about it on Facebook.

The day before one of my favorite bands - an all female death metal band - Crypta played at the same venue and I hope he was there as well. I recommend their newest album from 2023 - “Shades of Sorrow”.

notes: two of these are actually EPs! four of these are black metal! but they've all got something a little funky going on.

Agriculture are an LA band that call themselves "ecstatic black metal". Recommended for fans of the transcendental black metal project Liturgy. This EP is beautiful and intense and fills me with joy, I cannot wait for their debut album.

Old Nick makes black metal that is extremely camp and silly, but masterfully executed. If you like to brood mysteriously but also goof around rambunctiously, this is the album for you. Makes me feel like a court jester.

Another black metal album, I loved Lamp of Murmuur's previous album which was more gothic with post punk influences, this new one is raw and aggressive but still has a lot of atmosphere. They just keep getting better.

I'm not as familiar with thrash metal but I really like this Power Trip album. It rules. The intro of "Waiting Around To Die" reminds me a little of the Jaws theme. (shrug)

More fun black metal from Devil Master, track 8 "Funerary Gyre of Dreams & Madness" makes me think of surf rock.

A friend showed me GingerBee and I was immediately hooked. This EP can be described as a lot of things - 5th wave Emo, Screamo, (Hyper)Skramz, there's some Chiptune - just give it a listen. Makes me feel nostalgic and happy ^_^

What I'm Listening To- Feburary/March

Kinda a light month, but there's been good shit going on.

Devil Master! The Decibel Tour was another hit, and I especially enjoyed getting to see these guys again, who I haven't since their first album dropped. Love their first wave black metal throwback!

Midnight! Really liking their new album and still spinning their other stuff, always a good time. Hoping it won't be too long until they tour again, I missed their last few dates here. Still hate that I was sick when they opened for Mercyful Fate

DEVIL MASTER are sad because everyone wants them to go home and change. Absolutely not. They're outside during daylight hours, isn't that enough?

It’s true that family get-togethers are becoming increasingly tense for everyone involved, but capes should absolutely be considered formal wear. If a velvet cape doesn’t count as making an effort when going out for a meal, then frankly the world doesn’t make sense anymore.

Dracula was royalty, for gracious’ sake. He wouldn’t be caught out at a dinner party without a cape, would he? So if everyone could just chillax and stop staring and/or snickering, we can go back inside the restaurant and all this unpleasantness can be forgotten.

And for the last time, no, it’s not a phase. It’s a lifestyle.
