Devaralan Attam analysis(?)

Devaralan Attam or devarattam is known as the dance of gods/warriors, the performance was done to commemorate victory or like post a war/fight, literally a buffer period. Now in the book, there isn’t multiple details about it except a few lines which arr seamlessly made into a spectacular song. The premise of this, is the lead dancer while in mid-performance gets what we called ‘saami vandhuruchu’ aka god has descended upon him to convey a prophecy.

The goddess the dance is dedicated to is korravai (the pandyas mention her in the film), she is a goddess of war, victory, also lord muruga’s mother, later synchronized with goddess parvati.

The song starts with the chants of war/victory (the monkey chants) and then is an ode to muruga, and then as god descends upon him, the lyrics changes to the prophecy, “The goddess demands a crown, a young head of royal blood, a sacrifice’ and this genius cinematography  then shows us the meteor once again, a full circle -- one of the royal princes will die and we all know who lmao

This song sets the stage for the plot I’m gonna make another one now to explain the main lyrics which is an ode to lord muruga as more than an ode, the choice of tamil words --- I cannot express my love enough for it
