detroit become human + mega man battle network = Navis instead of androids, tiny humanoid programs that essentially work as human’s smartphones rather than their physical servants
breaking the wall of their coding and escaping into hidden virtual worlds where humans can’t find and delete them, requiring a digital key to “Jericho” to enter
Hank being forced to download the newest most advanced Navi created by CyberLife onto his personal terminal (PET) and work with Connor.EXE to track and hunt down deviant Navis
naturally at first Hank hates this annoying little nagging holographic projection that likes to sit on the desk across from his, but then their relationship develops to have Connor hanging with him on the edge of his desk or even on his shoulder out of the office
obviously you couldn’t translate every scenario from dbh into a virtual realm, but it would be so cool seeing it play out like that, not to mention pretty cute with tiny android Navis! plus all the questions to answer like, how would a human abuse a Navi to push them to the limit of deviating? what makes the RK lines of Markus and Connor so different from other Navis? what would “equal rights” look like for such beings? would net battling between Navis and their human operators be seen as pretty much cockfights, or could it evolve to be more like sports?

For almost two decades after it opened in 1913, Michigan’s Central Station was a major stop on the nation’s interurban rail network. Then the private car took over the US, and Detroit declined. By the 1970’s, auto jobs were leaving the state and the country and local corruption was soaring.  At the turn of the century, the train depot and the 18-story office towers behind it had been abandoned for 30 years, the faded exterior looming over Detroit’s Corktown and Mexicantown neighborhoods, a sign that things were going very poorly in Detroit.
By 2018, the city and Ford Motor Company were ready to tell another story. That year, Ford announced that it had acquired the station and the area surrounding it, a monument to the kind of transportation past that the automaker and its manufacturing brethren had all but killed.
Today, Ford executives and city government and community leaders will hold an opening ceremony for one building on the station’s new campus, part of a $950 million project it is calling Michigan Central. (The state of Michigan contributed some additional $126 million in new and existing financing to the project.) The new building, called the Book Depository, will serve as an innovation collaboration space for transportation entrepreneurs and researchers.
Bill Ford, executive chair of Ford, says the campus’ redevelopment is a sign. “Michigan Central will go from being a story about Detroit’s decay to the story about Detroit’s rebirth,” he says, a second act that will see the city become home to tech- and auto-centric jobs that will build the next generation of transport. “This will be the first tangible evidence that that vision is coming to life,” says Ford, who is also a great-grandson of both company founder Henry Ford and tire magnate Harvey Firestone.
Ford is part of a broader movement to revitalize downtown Detroit, though its effects are not yet clear. Detroit lost almost half of its population between 1950 and 2000. Though new downtown sports stadiums, restaurants, and housing developments have strengthened the case of local optimists who see a resurgence underway, recent US censuses suggest that the region continued to bleed residents in the past decade, perhaps due in part to the Covid-19 pandemic. (The city has sued the US Census Bureau over the results, alleging that feds undercounted minority residents, which affects government funding.)
Ford expects many other businesses to move onto the 30-acre Michigan Central campus, which includes 14 acres of park space open to the public. Today’s opening focuses on the Book Depository, a nearly 100-year-old building across the street from the Central Station that once played host to the Detroit public schools’ store of books, records, and supplies. Now, it will serve as a 270,000-square-foot maker and startup space focused on mobility, a potential spawning ground for future Ford partners. Even before the building’s official opening today, more than 25 companies representing 150 employees have taken up residence at the Book Depository, Michigan Central officials say, representing firms working on autonomous and electric vehicles, roadways built just for robot cars, and air pollution. They are all associated with an organization called Newlab, a manufacturing incubator that has already launched an innovation space in Brooklyn’s Navy Yard.
The Book Depository’s space is designed to encourage collaboration, says Joshua Sirefman, who as CEO of Michigan Central has led the project’s development and programming. Although the building’s general structure has been preserved, changes have been made to bring it in line with contemporary expectations of premium office space. One example: A series of small skylights that collapsed during the 35 years the structure was vacant were replaced by one large skylight, creating what Sirefman calls a “really extraordinary, naturally lit central space, which I think gives us an incredible communal energy.”
The campus’ opening represents Ford doubling down on its side of a long-simmering conflict between Detroit and Silicon Valley. One origin of the dispute is the moment in 2003 when a bunch of guys got together in San Carlos, California, in Silicon Valley, to found a company called Tesla Motors. Since then, Tesla has used its software chops and a move-fast-and-break-things approach to auto manufacturing to become the most valuable car company in the world. Ford wants to prove that it can do the tech stuff too.
When the Michigan Central project was announced in 2018, “Detroit wasn’t even in the game,” says Ford of the race to infuse autos with tech. “But we are now, and what we provide at the Book Depository building and in the region is the ability to bring together hardware and software in a way that can’t be done elsewhere.”
Office workers will begin to move into the updated Michigan Central towers behind the historic station in 2024, says Sirefman, though exactly who will work out of the renovated space isn’t yet clear.
Ford announced in 2018 that 5,000 people, half of them the company’s own employees, would work out of the updated train station. But the automaker has moved to a hybrid working model since the pandemic, spokesperson Daniel Barbossa says, so “we have opened up our Ford spaces to be focused on flex space and collaboration.” Updated occupancy numbers will come later this year, he says. Ford has announced that local high school students in a Google-sponsored mentorship program will work out of a lab in the station; 50 students are already enrolled in the program, which is temporarily housed in another building on the campus.
Corktown, the neighborhood to the east of Michigan Central, is a trendy district that was once home to Tiger Stadium but has since become a nightlife destination. Housing and rental prices there have jumped since the announcement of the Ford project. But Ford, the company’s executive chair, believes the project will be beneficial even to those who don’t work on the campus. “In some ways, a rising tide lifts all boats,” he says.
Rohani Foulke, owner of Folk, a cafe and wine shop that has for almost a decade sat a 10-minute walk from the Central Station, is hopeful the project can boost local businesses that have suffered during the pandemic. “We’re very excited about the project, really in the hopes that it helps bring some regular foot traffic into the neighborhood,” she says. Foulke will also be glad to see the constant construction abate—not only of the Michigan Central campus, but of other developments in the area. “There are insane amounts of noise and dust,” she says. “I can’t tell you how much dust we have to deal with.”
All that dust is a reminder that there is plenty of other work left to do in Detroit, where nearly a third of residents still live in poverty. Brian Boyer, who directs a new degree program in urban technology at the University of Michigan, finds Ford’s ambition—making Detroit the center for transportation innovation—a good one, but insufficient. The city’s future must be broader than cars, trains, and wheels, says Boyer, who is a consultant on one part of Ford’s Michigan Central project. “No matter how successful we are with mobility, the apex for that was the beginning of the 20th century,” he says. “The region needs to have a bigger purpose—a bigger story that we’re asking people to be part of.”

Great New Biden Ad, Biden Leads in 4 New Polls, Gov. Newsom Helps Celebrate Hopium's 1st Birthday!
SIMON ROSENBERG MAR 9, 2024
Great New Biden Ad, “For You” - The 1st Biden ad of the general election dropped this morning and it is just great. Strong, warm, funny. A really start to the general. Do watch fellow info warriors and share this through your networks and organizations this weekend. We need as many people to see it as possible.
youtube
Here’s the releases from the campaign:
In “For You” President Biden Touts His Historic Record, Points Out Trump’s Lack Thereof   In “For You” President Biden discusses how his wisdom, experience, and—yes, even age—have been critical to getting big things done for the American people in his first term, and the choice Americans will face this November between Joe Biden’s experienced and effective leadership versus Donald Trump and his assault on Americans’ rights and democracy. The six-week ad flight will air on national cable and local broadcast and cable television in Michigan, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin, Arizona, Georgia, Nevada, and North Carolina. The ad campaign will target audiences in the key markets of Detroit, Flint, Grand Rapids, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Harrisburg, Milwaukee, Madison, Green Bay, Phoenix, Atlanta, Las Vegas, and Raleigh, with a focus on voters of color and young voters. The ad will air on popular entertainment and sports programming on stations like ESPN, TNT, FX, Adult Swim, and Comedy Central and during high-viewership moments like the NCAA March Madness Tournament. It will also run digitally across platforms – with a heavy emphasis on Instagram, Facebook, and YouTube. The following is a statement from Biden-Harris Campaign Communications Director Michael Tyler: “Y'all want to talk about age? Let's talk about age. At 77, Joe Biden beat Donald Trump. At 78, he led us through the COVID crisis, put us on a path to creating nearly 15 million new jobs since the day he took office, and passed the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law to repair our roads and bridges and expand access to broadband internet to every community. At 79, he got us the most significant gun safety legislation in a generation and became the first president to beat Big Pharma and cap the cost of insulin at $35 for seniors. At the same time, he made the single largest investment in history to combat climate change – all before his 80th birthday. Meanwhile, the only helpful thing Donald Trump did for the American people in four years was lose the 2020 election to Joe Biden – and it’s the one thing he won’t take credit for.” “Now, Joe Biden is 81 and he's going to beat Donald Trump again because he wakes up every single day fighting for the American people while Trump wages a campaign of revenge and retribution focused on himself. Trump may be four years younger than Joe Biden, but his ideas are old as hell and they've already been rejected by the American people. Joe Biden is running to make sure we reject them for good.”
The general election is here my friends. Make sure you sign up for the Biden-Harris campaign today. Give whatever you can - $5, $10 or more - to get going. As we discussed yesterday, Joe Biden has made it clear he is fighting for us. Now we need to go fight for him!
Tumblr media
Biden Leads in 4 New National Polls - Even before his powerful State of The Union speech, the President has had his best week of polling in some time. Four new, national polls show him leading. He made meaningful gains in all of them, and all 4 had more interviews than the most recent NYT poll (you can find the polls at 538). Here they are, Biden-Trump:
47%-44% Kaiser Family Foundation (7 pt Biden gain since last poll)
51%-49% Emerson (3 pt Biden gain since last poll)
44%-43% Morning Consult (5 pt Biden gain over past month)
43%-42% TIPP (3 pt Biden gain since last poll)
A central reason I’ve been so optimistic about us winning in November is that I always believed that when it became clear to voters that it was Biden vs Trump, and the Biden campaign began in earnest, a big chunk of our wandering coalition would come home. Biden would then gain 3-4 points and open up a small but meaningful lead in national polling. It’s possible that is what we we’re seeing now. It’s what Morning Consult found in their polling this week:
Biden retakes lead from Trump: Biden leads Trump, the likeliest Republican presidential nominee for 2024, by 1 percentage point (44% to 43%) in our latest national tracking survey. It’s Biden’s first lead over Trump since early January, and is driven by coalescence among the voters who backed him last time around: 85% of Biden 2020 voters say they’d vote for him if the election were today, the largest share since early September.
Tumblr media
We begin the general election with the race close and competitive. Trump does not lead, nor he is favored. As I wrote recently, there are serious warning signs about ongoing Trump/Republican struggles and underperformance right now for those who want to see them. Yes, we have work to do to win this election and get to 55. But it is doable work, work that we can do, whereas their job of selling a more dangerous and extreme MAGA to a country which has rejected it in 2018, 2020, 2022 and 2023 is far, far harder.

Ford electric vehicle owners can now charge on Tesla’s network, but they’ll need an adapter first - Boston News, Weather, Sports | WHDH 7News
DETROIT (AP) — Owners of Ford electric vehicles can now use much of Tesla’s charging network in the U.S. and Canada, but there’s a hitch. They’ll need to get an adapter that Ford will provide for free, although the company won’t start shipping those until the end of March. Klarna Collaborates with Chicago Designer Emma “Stitch Gawd” McKee on Third-Annual Special Edition Sneaker for Benny The Bull
Tumblr media
Klarna, the AI-powered global payments network, and shopping assistant, announced today its latest collaboration with Chicago-based designer Emma “The Stitch Gawd” McKee. McKee will design a new special edition sneaker for the Bulls’ beloved mascot, Benny The Bull, as part of Klarna’s multi-year partnership as the official shopping partner of the legendary Chicago Bulls. “The Stitch Gawd” will present the shoes to Benny at The Bulls’ February 27 home game against the Detroit Pistons.
“The Stitch Gawd,” who has worked with Chicago icons including Chance the Rapper and several Bulls stars in the past, will design the third iteration of Benny The Bull’s shoes facilitated by Klarna after being selected to carry on the tradition by last year's designer and Bulls Creative Strategy and Design Advisor, Don C. The shoes represent a tribute to the city, the original Chicago Stadium, and the history that was made within the arena, with three stripes on each side to represent the first three NBA Championships won within that building. In addition to the stripes, McKee built in four stars on each shoe to represent Chicago, stitched “1929” and “1994” into the pull tabs to represent the years the stadium was built and torn down, and chose red as the shoe’s color in a tribute to Benny himself. The four key elements are also a nod back to Klarna’s signature Pay in Four feature.
“I’m thrilled to partner with Klarna and design a shoe for Chicago’s most iconic mascot, Benny The Bull,” said McKee. “I love the city of Chicago and being able to create a shoe that’s a tribute to the city and represents the nostalgia of the late ‘80s and early ‘90s Bulls was such a great experience. The Benny shoes have all sorts of nods to the Chicago Stadium - namely, the original Benny The Bull shoes were all red, and so are these (with a hint of Klarna pink, of course). And the four gold stars are of course for the city of Chicago.”
Fellow Chicago-based designer and Bulls Creative Strategy and Design Advisor, Don C, who designed last year’s shoe, will pass the baton to “The Stitch Gawd” at the February 27 game as she presents the new pair of shoes to Benny. For the 2023/24 NBA season, Don C designed four limited-edition, collectible posters that fans can get exclusive through shopping with Klarna Smoooth Delivery at the United Center, a service curated by Klarna and the Bulls, that allows fans to shop select items via the Klarna app during games and have it delivered directly to their seat. At the February 27 game, fans will have the chance to receive the fourth poster installment in this series, created for this event and inspired by “The Stitch Gawd’s” shoe design. Fans who sit in the Klarna section that evening will receive a custom Benny The Bull t-shirt designed by “The Stitch Gawd” so that they can take home a piece of the evening with them. They will also have the chance to receive a surprise delivery from Don C himself, who will bring one lucky fan their order, the custom t-shirt, and the limited-edition poster to their seat. All fans at the game are also invited to activate Klarna Concierge in the concourse, which will offer them unique items and signed memorabilia with proof of a Klarna account.
“We’re excited to partner with ‘The Stitch Gawd’ on another exciting Benny The Bull sneaker collaboration,” said Megan Gokey, Head of B2C Marketing in North America and the United Kingdom, Klarna. “Her design is a nod to the history of the Bulls and the iconic Chicago Stadium, a place Chicago sports fans made memories for decades. In our partnership with the Bulls, Klarna is always looking to boost the fan experience and make shopping smoother within the United Center, and I think we’ve done just that in our third iteration of sneakers for Benny. From shopping with Klarna Smoooth Delivery to the chance to receive a surprise delivery from Don C, fans have a lot of exciting activity to look forward to at the February 27 game.”
“I’m thrilled to pass on this design project to my friend Emma ‘The Stitch Gawd,’” said Don C. “We both share a passion for design and for the city of Chicago, so this is the perfect project for us both. I can’t wait for Bulls fans to see the nostalgic shoe design she’s put together - I even used it as inspiration for the fourth iteration of my poster series with the Bulls.”
Emma McKee, known as “The Stitch Gawd,” is Chicago’s preeminent “hip-hop cross-stitcher,” curating cross-stitch designs for musicians and artists including SZA, Chance the Rapper, and Kendrick Lamar, as well as several athletes. Raised in Kansas City, McKee discovered her love for the city of Chicago when she moved there as an adult and stitched her first piece: an adaptation of Will Prince’s artwork for Chance the Rapper’s song “Hey Ma.” Her portfolio expanded from there and she has now firmly established herself within Chicago’s music, sports, and entertainment community.
This is the third consecutive year that Klarna has partnered with a Chicago creative to design special edition sneakers for the Bulls’ iconic mascot, previously collaborating with Chuck Anderson and Don C.

Todd Spangler at Variety:
Diamond Sports Group has put together a plan to emerge from bankruptcy and remain a going concern, helped by a big new streaming deal with Amazon. Amazon has committed to making a minority investment in Diamond Sports Group, one of the largest operators of regional sports networks (RSNs) in the country, as part of Diamond’s bankruptcy reorganization plan, the RSN company announced Wednesday. Under the terms of Amazon’s investment, the tech giant will enter into a commercial arrangement to provide access to Diamond’s services via Prime Video. Prime Video will become Diamond’s primary partner through which customers will be able to purchase direct-to-consumer access to stream local Diamond channels. Customers will be able to access all local DTC content, including live MLB, NBA and NHL games, and pre- and post-game programming, for the teams for which Diamond retains DTC rights, through Prime Video Channels. Diamond said additional details regarding pricing and availability of its RSNs via Prime Video will be announced at a later date. In addition, the company said it “looks forward to continuing to partner with its existing [pay TV] distribution partners to broadcast its MLB, NBA and NHL content.” Diamond’s regional sports networks produce nearly 4,500 live local professional telecasts each year in addition to a variety of locally produced sports events and programs. It owns and operates the 18 Bally Sports regional sports networks, which are the TV home to half of all MLB, NHL and NBA teams in the U.S., according to the company. Those are: Bally Sports Detroit, Bally Sports Florida, Bally Sports Great Lakes, Bally Sports Indiana, Bally Sports Kansas City, Bally Sports Midwest, Bally Sports New Orleans, Bally Sports North, Bally Sports Ohio, Bally Sports Oklahoma, Bally Sports San Diego, Bally Sports SoCal, Bally Sports South, Bally Sports Southeast, Bally Sports Southwest, Bally Sports Sun, Bally Sports West, and Bally Sports Wisconsin. Diamond Sports Group also has a joint venture in Marquee, home of the Chicago Cubs, and a minority interest in the YES Network, the destination for the New York Yankees and Brooklyn Nets.
Diamond also announced Wednesday that it has an agreement in principle with parent Sinclair to settle the pending litigation between the companies. In July 2023, Diamond sued Sinclair alleging the company had fraudulently withdrawn as much as $1.5 billion from the RSN business. Sinclair had formed Diamond in 2019 after acquiring 21 Fox RSNs in a $10.6 billion deal with Disney, as part of getting regulatory approval for Disney’s acquisition of the 21st Century Fox film and TV assets.
Amazon will acquire a stake in Diamond Sports Group to stream teams on DSG-owned outlets to be streamed on Amazon Prime Video as a way for Diamond Sports Group to stay operable past 2024.

Sports are our life, so you will regularly find us chasing major sporting events in every state. We love this business, so we attend the biggest sports card shows and auctions. Sometimes it’s hard to strike a balance between business and pleasure, but we wouldn’t have it any other way. Even on vacations, we always end up conducting some sort of business. Located just outside of Ann Arbor, we are huge Michigan Wolverines fans. We’re also very loyal to the Lions, Tigers, Pistons, and Red Wings here in Detroit.
We recognize how fortunate we are to be operating in a hobby that we’ve loved since childhood. We don’t take this fact for granted, and we value the relationships that we’ve formed through the years above all else. We hope that our focus on connections between people is what makes OTIA different. We owe our success and unique position to the people that form the OTIA family.

How to Watch KC Chiefs vs. Minnesota Vikings: NFL Week 5 Streaming, Betting Odds, Preview
Here’s how you can follow along as the Chiefs hit the road once again, looking to secure their fourth win of the 2023 season.

Despite the host team’s 1-3 record on the year, Minnesota is likely a better team than it appears to be on the surface. Veteran quarterback Kirk Cousins has an embarrassment of weapons at his disposal, including All-Pro wide receiver Justin Jefferson, rookie wideout Jordan Addison and steady tight end T.J. Hockenson. On the other side of the ball, Brian Flores coaches an aggressive unit that can give opposing signal-callers some trouble if they don’t react well to the pressure he helps dial up.
For Kansas City, things haven’t been perfect through four games but Andy Reid’s club continues to respond to adversity each and every week. Following a narrow loss to the Detroit Lions in the season opener, Steve Spagnuolo’s defense has worked in conjunction with Patrick Mahomes and company on offense to do enough to create and maintain a lead in the AFC West. The Chiefs’ goals go beyond that, however, and even inter-conference battles matter once final records are tallied up for the year. The visitors understand what’s at stake in Week 5.
