#2: running fingers through hair

"Rough day?"

Crow's reply was little more than a grunt as he flopped down next to Delphi, leaning against him. Delphi rested a hand on his head, carding his fingers through his hair. He returned his attention to his book, one hand still playing with Crow's hair as he read, waiting for him to speak. It wasn't the first time Crow had returned to him exhausted.

After a few minutes, Crow shifted, resting his chin on Delphi's shoulder. "Long day," he corrected with a sigh. "And I've got more to do tomorrow."

Delphi smiled, his fingers still moving. "No you don't."

"Zavala—"

"Zavala has just recieved a message explaining that I'll be keeping you for a few days."

Crow looked at him, puzzled. "You can do that?"

"The Vanguard doesn't actually have any authority over me, technically speaking," Delphi said. "The Speaker before me helped lead the City, I didn't want any of that when I agreed to this position. I don't technically have any authority over them, either, but there's a certain amount of respect that I've gotten from occasionally being possessed by the Traveler. So I usually get my way."

"And your way is having me around?" Crow asked.

"If I could have my way all the time, yeah," Delphi said. "But speaking of technicalities, you're technically my apprentice, remember? That means Zavala has to share."

Crow chuckled. "Even if he's annoyed with you for not telling him about me?"

Delphi's fingers stalled slightly, remembering the conversation he'd had with Zavala and Osiris after Crow's identity had been revealed. It wasn't anger, really. More disappointment that neither of them had trusted him. It hadn't been a fun conversation.

"Even so," he said and resumed running his fingers through Crow's hair.
