for those wondering why i'm revising i also want to quickly share this beautifully ironic highlight from the original version of the chapter:

He lowered his head closer to the paper, re-reading his work to make sure that he hadn’t made any stupid mistakes. “To be fair, you did just randomly start taking while I was working.”

me in 2018 really wrote "don't make any stupid mistakes" and immediately proceeded to make and publish a stupid mistake

#deca fic revision #i will NOT be adding much across the board for other chapters lol #this one just bugged me bc it didnt hit 10k!! and that WAS ok bc i always counted the intro as part of the first chapter's word count #but then i deleted almost 300 useless words while revising and i was irritated bc even w intro that's 400 words short and ughhh so lmao #lil bit of extra dialogue sprinkled in there where i had ideas :P #for example i just thought of the steal the lunch lady line and i can't believe i missed it before so i had to add it sorry not sorry lol

The Deca S1E0: An Introduction to the Deca || Recorded Changes

Grammatical Fixes: Corrected multiple minor grammatical errors (capitalization/punctuation).

Majorly Overhauled Select Paragraphs: Rewrote significant portions of select paragraphs, particularly in the first half.

Removed “Fact” with No Source: Could not find my source for a stated number resulting in its removal.

Edited Word Choices: Corrected passive tense and switched a handful of words to read better.

hi! just want to give a small heads up to those who read my fic "the deca" that i am planning to run through and revise some stuff in the series over the next month or so. i know there are some people who enjoy rereading so if you look and you think something is funky, it is. series one was posted almost 5 years ago now (WHAT?!?!) and it is no longer up to my standard. reflecting on my overall mindset, i think a big part of my roadblock in writing more is that i am not satisfied with the overall series in its current state and i think i can change that.

the series do get progressively better in quality, i think, but there's going to be some changes right up to series five so if you notice the formatting is funky or something isn't quite how you remembered, i probably changed it. i won't be changing any major plots but i am going to update ALL formatting to match series five and i plan to lowkey rewrite a few passages and reword things here and there.

there will be no changes so big you have to reread to keep up. i just want the general quality of the work to match the content that i currently produce. this is especially because this is a long running series so unlike some of my other works, the individual fics cannot stand alone as "products of their time." i am hoping to come out of this with work that holds up better (and hopefully has less typos).

i don't currently plan to update when i finish and repost each chapter as the changes shouldn't be that significant or important however if anyone is actually curious what ends up changing then lmk and maybe i'll post a summary of my notes and revisions at intervals lol

edit dec 16 '23: i'm revising more than anticipated and plan to post lil "update logs." block the tag #deca fic revision if u don't care about it.

tl;dr - i am in the process of revising my deca series to fix formatting, typos, and improve its overall quality. you do not need to reread anything to understand new chapters once they are posted.
