Wasp-mimic small-headed fly, Cyrtus gibbus, Acroceridae
Found primarily in Portugal, Spain, and France, the larvae of these flies are parasitoids of spiders. Females do not lay eggs on their host; rather, larvae hatch from egg clutches and seek out their host, moving in the looping way inchworms do and capable of leaping several millimeters onto a host. Adults feed on nectar.
