The last round of military assistance provided by the United States to Ukraine for its defense against the Russian invasion will include former Soviet helicopters, wandering drones and aerial surveillance radars.
In total, the "Security Assistance for Ukraine", as the effort is called by the U.S. Department of Defense, is worth $800 million and raises the total value of weapons equipment delivered to Ukraine since the beginning of Russia's premeditated and unprovoked invasion to more than $2.6 billion.

As revealed by the Pentagon, the package will see the U.S. transfer 11 Mi-17 helicopters, which had previously been destined for Afghanistan, as well as unmanned coastal defense ships. Pentagon press secretary John Kirby did not reveal additional details about the unmanned ships, adding only that they would be provided by the U.S. Navy.

Other items that are part of the package include 300 additional Switchblade wandering drones, 18 155 mm howitzers and 40,000 artillery rounds, 10 AN/TPQ-36 counterartillery radars and two ANIMPQ-64 Sentinel aerial surveillance radars.

"We took advantage of some Ukrainians who were in the United States for a previously scheduled training to train them on Switchblades," said Pentagon press secretary John F. Kirby, in the official statement of April 13. 2022. “We are looking for options for additional Switchblade training and where and when this can occur and how we would do it. And certainly, one option that would be available to us would be to use troops closer to Ukraine, obviously troops that are on the eastern flank of NATO."

In addition, another 500 Javelin missiles and thousands of other anti-armor systems, as well as 200 M113 armored vehicles and 100 Humvees will be transferred.

Also included are chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear protection equipment, medical equipment, 30,000 sets of armor and helmets and more than 2,000 optical and laser rangefinders.
The U.S. announced its aid package when Russia's invasion of Ukraine passes the 50th day. Although Ukraine has postponed the attack on its capital, Russia is now gathering forces in southeastern Ukraine in preparation for a suspected large-scale offensive.
According to an official senior defense briefing, Russia has launched more than 1,550 missiles so far.

“We continue to see movements and activities of Russian forces in Belarus and Russia, as they continue to regroup their forces, prepare equipment and support material for what we continue to believe will be a renewed boost,” the official said.

The delivery of military equipment must be completed by mid-April 2022.

Pentagon spokesman: John Kirby, the array of equipment that will be sent to Ukraine as part of the new drawdown package is broad. It includes 18 155 mm Howitzers, along with 40,000 artillery rounds. Also included are the AN/TPQ-36 counterartillery and AN/MPQ-64 Sentinel air surveillance radar systems. To move Ukrainian troops around the battlefield, the package includes 100 armored Humvee vehicles, 200 M113 Armored Personnel Carriers, and 11 Mi-17 helicopters. The helicopters will augment the five Mi-17 helicopters sent to Ukraine earlier this year. Additional Switchblade drones, Javelin missiles, medical equipment, body armor and helmets, optics and laser rangefinders, and M18A1 Claymore mines are also included in the package. "Some of [these capabilities] are reinforcing capabilities that we have already been providing Ukraine and some of them are new capabilities that we have not provided to Ukraine," Kirby said. "All of them are designed to help Ukraine ... in the fight that they are in right now." It's also expected that specific types of troops will be trained on specific types of systems. "We'll pull troops out that, for instance, are artillerymen, to learn the Howitzer and then go back in and train their colleagues, rather than take an artilleryman and make them responsible for ... training everybody on all these systems." Right now, it's unclear where such training might occur, Kirby told reporters, though he said it might happen in "multiple locations." Additionally, training on these systems by U.S. forces would likely happen with forces already in the region. #Ukraine #Russia #USA #Poland #Europe #EU #India #Sudamerica #Africa #Asia #China #US #USD #Canada #France #Germany #Italy #Japan #Australia #Korea #Israel #Brasil #Mexico #Indonesia #Spain (at Ukraine) https://www.instagram.com/p/CcUZx7uMu1g/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
