En 1985 Commodore se apuntaba al futuro. Dejaba relativamente atrás la exitosa era de los 8 bits en la que triunfó con el Commodore 64 y daba el salto a los 16 bits con un ordenador muy especial: el Amiga 1000. Aquel proyecto estuvo rodeado de ideas espectaculares, pero una en especial, la multitarea apropiativa o preventiva, convirtió al Amiga 1000 y al resto de futuros modelos del Amiga en ordenadores envidiados hasta por los gigantes de la época. Do you have a favorite vintage computer?

Cor, now there is a great question! :-)

There are a few machines that I love the look of that I never owned (Sharp X6800 is a great example of this, if I had my way my PC at home would look like one of these! And growing up in the UK the BBC Model B has huge nostalgia credits, along with the best sounding keyboard ever!)

But when it comes to my absolute favourite I have to say the Amiga 500.

I still think it is one of the best looking computers ever designed and the hardware that it had inside was equally stunning. Having Deluxe Paint 2 as part of the Screen Gems pack had a massive influence on me and and my eventual career in videogames.

The Commodore 64 would be a very close second, I have lots of equally strong memories and emotions for that machine but it was the Amiga that I used more than just a games machine and as such becomes my favourite :-)

A604n (Amiga 600)

Die A604n von Individual Computers ist der Nachfolger der A604. Sie erweitert den Amiga 600 nicht nur um 1Mb Speicher, sondern stellt weitere Schnittstellen zur Verfügung. Dazu gehören zwei Uhren-Ports wovon eine adressiert ist wie die des Amiga 1200 und die andere für Erweiterungen wie die RapidRoad Highspeed USB geeignet ist. Des Weiteren bietet die A604n Platz für ein Indivision ECS. Da der Denise-Chip bereits im Amiga 600 vorhanden ist, muss kein weiterer in den Sockel des Flickerfixers gesteckt werden. Ein optionales RTC-Modul findet ebenfalls auf der A604n Platz. Die mitgeliefert Riser-Karte ermöglicht die horizontale Montage einer Subway oder RapidRoad USB Erweiterung. Auch wenn all diese Erweiterungen eingesetzt werden, ist es weiterhin möglich das Gehäuse des Amigas zu schließen.
