Unsupervised Semantic Segmentation by Distilling Feature Correspondences

Unsupervised semantic segmentation aims to discover and localize semantically meaningful categories within image corpora without any form of annotation. To solve this task, algorithms must produce features for every pixel that are both semantically meaningful and compact enough to form distinct clusters. Unlike previous works which achieve this with a single end-to-end framework, we propose to separate feature learning from cluster compactification. Empirically, we show that current unsupervised feature learning frameworks already generate dense features whose correlations are semantically consistent. This observation motivates us to design STEGO (Self-supervised Transformer with Energy-based Graph Optimization), a novel framework that distills unsupervised features into high-quality discrete semantic labels. At the core of STEGO is a novel contrastive loss function that encourages features to form compact clusters while preserving their relationships across the corpora. STEGO yields a significant improvement over the prior state of the art, on both the CocoStuff (+14 mIoU) and Cityscapes (+9 mIoU) semantic segmentation challenges.

Taxable or Non-taxable

An hour ago, we had our midterm exam on income taxation subject. There were only two problems. That's just two items alright but that was too damn confusing. The example problems on the book which she discussed to us were quite easy compared to the problems she gave us on the exam. 

We are to compute the tax to be collected on compensation income. We need to classify first if that compensation constitute tax or not. Now that's easy because exemptions were provided in the book you just have to familiarize with it. What's confusing there was that she provided us other non-taxable accounts and if we'll put in the non-taxable section it would  exceed the ceiling which is 30,000. Where to put it? She never discussed that part to us. What I did was I included it to taxable accounts. I asked Kuya Abbie (an accounting graduate) where to put it he said all the excess of non-taxable accounts will be considered taxable. 

This subject is quite a pain in the ass and it's making me sick plus the teacher. Bakit kasi pinalitan pa yong prof namin.

Nang dahil sa pagka "ligaw" ko sa tinychat, I met new friends. Wala, natuwa lang ako sa kanila. For such a short time, I instantly liked them. Masaya pala makipag-usap o makinig sa usapan ng iba paminsan-minsan. Yong isa ayaw magkaasawa at magaling magbigay ng advice. Sakit lang daw kasi sa ulo yon. Meet my new kuya. I have always wanted someone I can call "kuya". I am the eldest and we're only two in the family so yeah it's kinda boring. I have no one to confide when I have problems that I can't tell my parents. I have to work things on my own because I have no one I can depend myself with. It's hard but thank God I survived.

I've read random posts of people praising you and your blog and then I thought "Baka plastic lang din yan dahil famous", I got curious so I go over your blog and I instantly liked your posts. Then I tried to message you without expecting any reply but you replied. I was surprised and later found out that you are way too friendly and beyond nice. 

Then and there, I wanted you to be my friend. I wanted you to be my kuya because even for a very short time I can tell that you possess all those positive adjectives you can name a person. 

You respect other's opinion so you deserve to be respected too. Your ideas and views on a certain matter is very clever. I like the way you write and I love your blog and your whole personality.
