The "Me" Generation and Sharing faiths and ideals

In Colossians 2:14 Paul writes that Christ has canceled the "record of debt that stood against us with its legal demands. This he set aside, nailing it to the cross.” When God sent his son down for us, he paid the price which we were not able to pay. This means that salvation comes from Christ and it belongs to him as well. Christ owns it; that means he has the ability to do with it as he pleases Him, the most amazing miracle that is a part of salvation, is that he has the grace to offer it to us. God has allowed the most amazing miracle to be given to us, why should we waste it on just ourselves?

This generation that we are a part of (and I include myself in this statement) is known as the "me" generation. because of this we can take a look at all of the different religions, theologies, philosophies, etc. that are so readily available at our fingertips and pick and choose the ones that most fit our desires. The fact that we can have all of this knowledge so easily is something absolutely incredible. When we look at the Bible though, it can so easily be bent and shaped into what people want to believe. This is good because we can do a little bending to help the word reach to different kinds of people in different cultures or just in different places in life. It is a major problem though, once you begin to twist and edit God's word, you begin to try and edit God.

God's gift of salvation to us through Jesus Christ is amazing and the writings that tell us this story is just as amazing. The story of salvation is literally AWESOME as in FILLED WITH AWE. The "me" generation though will eventually loose the idea of how beautiful it is as a whole, not because the story of God's grace has changed, but because they will accept the idea of "This religion is mine, and that religion is theirs." and "If it works for them, that's fine with me." this is a bad place to be.

In fact its almost terrifying. When people hit a point of complacency the will no longer push for change and progress. Granted, when you push for forward motion you won't always get it right, but it is better than being idle. When it comes to Christians how could have the idea that we can bend and twist the words of God so far from "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me." (John 14:6) to "If people have a belief that gets them to be better people they should hold on to that, and God will acknowledge their efforts." its fearful.

After all, if the "me" generation uses religion to glorify themself then why should they share it. Their religion is what part of what makes them who they are and after all, isn't that the most important thing? Being who you are. The "me" generation will share with themselves and the world will no longer notice because it is socially encouraged to do nothing but encourage each other: even if you disagree with their beliefs.
