PLOT DROP 32: DIFFUSION
When The Prosperity enters the area around Kor'sel'Koo where communications transmissions are most accessible, Muffy and Hero find themselves met with a wave of messages to sift through and sort.
To Skylar and Ali from Karmel: Happy belated anniversary in Earth years. Enjoy a round of drinks at Yggld Drinks on me. [Enclosed is a gift certificate for a round of ten shots from the Water Bar and Alcohol Bar chain Yggld Bars, which is ubiquitous in every major settlement on Kor'Sel'Koo.]
To Beck from "K": If you've made it safely and find yourself with a spot of free time, I'd love if you visited.
To Ali from Zuytri: Hi, Friend! Here's the contact information for that person we were talking about that I think you might want to meet. Medri in room 806 Jallik in the Ulsgian Moon Retirement Community.
To Laurie from Viola Dessamer of Revvly Capsule Hotels: Thank you for signing up for the Revvly Capsule Hotels communications list. If you are in need of a safe space, we are always here for you. Read between the lines, and always feel free to reach out if you need a place to stay or cruelty-free, sustainably sourced, and practical meals.
To Theo from someone in the music business in Different City [the equivalent of about $200 in gixys are included]: Hello, Theo. Enclosed are some royalties from the sales of your music. It isn't that many gixys, but I'm pleased to let you know that some of your songs have been gaining a few fans. We anticipate being able to send you some more in six months.
To HJ from Junyi: Hey, bae!! It's really starting to be a long time since we've seen each other but I don't think I'll ever miss you any less. Work is going so good that I think I might be getting quasi-semi-kind of famous. I got some AH MAY ZING new tsum tsums and I stacked all of the ones I could find into a giant pyramid. Sometimes I think 'hey, Junyi, maybe you have a problem with collecting' but then I make a giant pyramid and everything is okay. I'm sending you a collection of my favorite memes that I've found over the last week and I hope that you cherish at least one of them because they made me smile and think of how nice it would be to look at memes with you. Did you know that "meme" rhymes with "steam"? I didn't know that until yesterday. Anyway anyway anyway I love you soooo much and you're sooooo pretty and sooooo good at communicating, HJ. I think about how happy I was to get to meet you all the time and how lucky I am to get to continue to talk to you.
To Robin from Jayvon: Robin, hello! Just wanted to let you know that I started a new job as a close combat officer on a brand new pirate crew, The Dreamhouse. I love it, and I'm glad that I have someone to tell the good news. If our crews are ever in the same area (I'm on Marloken right now), we should meet up and exchange stories.
To Marshall from her Dads: Marshall! We heard you would be going to Kor'Sel'Koo, so we are sending some of our favorite pictures of you and the family when you were younger and we lived there. Also, enclosed are up-to-date addresses and contact information for your cousins and other family. If you have the time, I'm sure they would love to meet up. All of us send our love!
To Daphne from Muzzain: Coast is clear still. Looking forward to meeting with you. "If you're out on the road Feelin' lonely and so cold All you have to do is call my name". These are poignant lyrics from the Gilmore Girls theme song. My name is Muzzain. Until we meet.
To Samira from Makhaira: How is your life going? We exchanged contact information a while back, but I never wrote. I don't know how much you want to hear this, but I've picked up a new hobby: pickleball. It's the one thing I'm a little better at than most of my family, but they haven't given up on playing. We installed our own court, which sounds completely rich erkuss girl of me, but I'm glad for it. What's been keeping you busy?
To Ian from Marlene: It was very nice to see you, Ian. I'm glad that you seem happy with your new crew, and I hope we can meet up again sometime. I don't like to mean ill will of others, but if I had to pick a different ship to crew on than my own, it would be Prosperity. Safe travels.
To Beck from Julia: Hey, Wanker. I know your birthday's not for a few weeks, but apparently the Three Stooges from the galx got their act together and won't leave us the hell alone. The twins wanted to make sure you got their birthday video messages. While they're starting to be rebellious little buggers (I know I'm getting old when I shake my head and sigh saying teenagers) they do love and miss you. They made me say something nice because I called you wanker but I think you're all right.
To Marshall from Oplo: You fixed our air conditioning, correct? Can you send tips?
To Daniel from Seetha: Hi, Daniel! I've missed talking with you so much, I've come to realize. I wanted to tell SOMEONE that isn't being a big meanie (Leo, he's being a big meanie) that I have a boyfriend now! :) His name is Frodo and he's so darling. I think you'd get along famously if you met. My captain is getting sentimental and sending messages to your ship, so I thought I'd send them too.
To Ryder from Seetha: I heard how Leo treated you from him and I am APPALLED. I know it was a while ago, but he's been so bratty and callous to you and also sweet Daniel and Ian. It sounds like he's cleared the air before, but it still doesn't sound right to me. Let me know if you need me to get a real apology out of that meanie on your terms. I know he'll actually mean it because he's apparently stopping his weird bedroom behavior and slowly but surely coming to terms with that. My goodness. You don't deserve that weird behavior.
To Skylar from Kenna: [It's just a picture of French fries with a digital smiley face drawn over]
--
By the time the crew touches down on Kor'Sel'Koo on 3/22/24, all of the messages have been sorted and provided and we pick up a new crew member: Mari, a quirky mate who is 4'6" of apparently pure enthusiasm.
The crew doesn't immediately settle down, as there are messages to read and Gilmore Gilrs to figure out.
--
Muzzain, the far'ly'dae one who ordered all of that Gilmore Girls merchandise, is staying temporarily in Wuunzek, a smallish city about an hour (by underground tunnel train) from Twarvu.
Wuunzek includes a variety of amenities, including Yggld Bars, the Inspired By Earth Waterpark (it's got a lazy river, a waterslide, and a wave pool), an enormous vitamin store aimed at Ly'Daesun called Yonrur, and more.
Wuunzek Population: 89% Far’Ly’Dae, 9% Erkuss, 1% Vanneer, 1% Carrek.
The process of getting the Gilmore Girls merchandise to the right place now will be... annoying because most of it actually needs to go to Twarvu. While it would normally take an hour and a half, the crew will probably take a full 24 hours to get their surreptiously.

PLOT DROP 31: THE POSSIBILITIES
Zuytri welcomes visitors to the KBW, and seems relieved that people actually seem to want to visit her. She ushers Skylar and Ali to the side to tell them how happy she is to know that those two are still going strong. It might be clear to an emotionally intuitive person that there is both jealousy and genuine appreciation to see love in action. Zuytri has surprisingly been (mostly?) enjoying being single since the last visit. The reopening of the KBW has been keeping Zuytri busy.
She murmurs to her friends that there is something that she needs to say
"This is... something that I've been wanting to show you for a few months but haven't worked up the nerve to ask about. Your Comms team alerted me that you'd be planning to stop by, but I don't want this to just be a one night sort of deal. Okay! Okay. So. I didn't want to discuss this before. I really don't like the topic. But- but I almost broached the topic with Karmel. A couple of months ago. It's still on her mind. I worry about her a lot. But... there is something I've never told her. Ever. I didn't want to tell her but there was a lead that I had that I just... never told her about. I tried to forget about it, and it almost worked. About- about djayyar like us. And extending lives. But there was a ship a while back. Not a pirate ship- legitimate business. It was this djayyar captain named Nyessanie. Basically operated a traveling mechanical service- not like Derros. More like if your mechanics went around to help ships as small as Derros that needed help. But... she adopted kids. This went on for years. Centuries. All of this happened before Karmel was even born. A lot of those kids went into the family business. Those kids of hers- a lot of them were djayyar. But not all of them. Not all. Few of those kids... lived a really long time. Too long." Zuytri swallowed hard. "Nyessanie passed away a while ago. Certainly over a hundred years ago. About a hundred twenty. I never met her in person, but I heard stories. Always really admired her... Honestly, Karmel maybe even knew of Nyessanie, but I'm not sure she connected the dots. Or maybe Karmel already knew all of this and it didn't go anywhere." She exhaled, shaking her head. "But I can tell you that Nyessanie's youngest is still alive. Erkuss. One hundred and seventy-six years old." Erkuss seldom live past 150. "Moved to one of the moon retirement communities of Kor'Sel'Koo with that healing low gravity a few years back. We never... talked, but I kept tabs."
Well, of course that's all very interesting news, but what's also interesting (in a bad sort of way) is the (EXTREMELY WEIRD WOW) news that Hero had to share with the entire crew. Apparently, some overzealous trio of space galx cops has been questioning the Gilmore Girls-wanter about Illegal Earth Goods, so it isn't safe to travel to Kor'Sel'Koo just yet.
The KBW isn't the worst place to stay, after all. And the Qraxoldov crew isn't such bad company, right? They even seem excited to see Ian again and catch up on what's been happening.

PLOT DROP 20: REVELATION
A week after the mission to the island with Karmel, analysis was complete on the materials discovered. The cave featured a variety of artifacts in varying forms: parchment (some in better condition than others), tablets (in excellent condition- a bit like Kindles that only display relatively short passages (up to ~30 pages of a paperback) but are powered by heat so that they work when held or exposed to heat, and the video where a djayyar repeated a six minute speech in five different languages.
Drones provided by Skylar and photographs taken by the drones and the rest of the group were used during the translation process.
Please note that any words in italics are notes - not part of the texts. Bold text is simply there for emphasis.
Without further ado, here are the translated artifacts.
The Video
The video is accompanied by several tablets with the text in all of the languages spoken.
I shutter this cave. After I talk with Mica, the descendant of my child who holds leadership now, I know I must. I must start a journey now, far away, to be celestial. He tells me that the land must be called QiruSha, after the love that made the lives of the people what they are. I am flattered, but nervous. I have seen what the descendants of the original citizens do with djayyar. I trust my child’s descendant Mica to keep the secret and pass it down so that a djayyar not under the control of anyone else may be able to receive my knowledge. It pains me. I am in such pain. I am old now, and the pain is worse than when I first unleashed my energy to strengthen the people.
I start my voyage now, but if one who is celestial may find the way, I leave a path to where I am. I think the celestial djayyar will understand my pain and know how I loved Kraysha, both the person I care for still and the land named for him.
You, djayyar - I am Qiru. I have lived to be very old - 502 Earth years. My truest love was named Sha. He was old for his species, but young for an Earth human when we first met, and I was barely an adult. We had a beautiful life together. He and his species became human, and some of the people of Earth feared them for a multitude of reasons. Sha, others of his species, several sympathetic Earth people, and I traveled via ship to this planet, and we made it a beautiful place to live for all except those like us: the djayyar. I fear that the people now love me so much, but I was an adult when I traveled to Earth- not an indoctrinated child.
Mica and I and our allies have decided to let the memory of me be buried in all but the name of the planet. I state this message in as many languages as I know well because language is fickle.
The pain to imbue those I love with strength and special powers is what I live with. I feel now that it was worth it to me, but it may not be for you. I leave this knowledge to you on how to do this because it is not an intuitive process. The ability to control metal and the longer lifespans the people here enjoy were blessings I was glad to give, but I am in such pain, dear one.
Whoever you are, djayyar who opened this cave, I love you. I am so grateful that you were able to enter the resting place of my writings and what I could piece together of Sha’s. On the cave’s wall up high, I leave you with the coordinates to my star so that you know. Sha has been with me in my heart this whole way, and I know he would love you too. I hope that you are safe and can enjoy life to its fullest.
The Accompaniment
There are two different handwritings found in this cave. Karmel assumes that one of these is Qiru and the other is Sha. Based on context, Karmel assumes that this passage was written some time before the video was recorded- perhaps even tens or hundreds of years before the video.
Sha was the writer, the one who was organized. For all of my gifts of language, that was never me. I have so many ideas that I struggle to write down. Now that Sha is gone, I tell our children’s children’s children’s children’s children about Sha’s love. I want them to know how much he wanted them to survive. I want my children’s children’s children’s children’s children’s children and longer to know Sha. I use my gifts of language in this cave so that someone in the far-off future may be able to read this, although I apologize if I am not clear enough after spending such time writing.
I am a person but I am also celestial. I care not to be worshiped, and simply want my family and friends to be safe.
Too late, I learned that I may imbue some of my celestial energy into the people around me. It made our children’s children’s children on this planet stronger. It hurt immensely, and I was unable to move as long as what Sha called a cycle. Although Sha was not here, his impact is on me always. I still hurt, and not simply because of the anguish of losing the one you love. It is an aching of the whole body that comes and goes- especially painful when I am already upset. But even when i am happy, I hurt. I think I will always feel this pain.
I wonder if I may try again so the ones that were not on this land might have such strength too. The people do not let me because they don’t like to see me hurt. I work the land with them and create fire, but I am in so much pain.
I am glad that Azi lives yet so that I do not feel alone in my history, but we will never be the closest of comrades. We meet with each other on some occasions, play games, and talk of the old times.
A New Perspective
Karmel believes that this is one of the oldest writings in the room, and was written by Sha. This parchment was (perhaps lovingly) preserved in some substance that used to be more popular on Kraysha. The parchment was written in   Eesomdet, an old vanneer language that evolved into Vaddikot. It appears that Qiru also made a tablet translating this passage into Shavul and Videion.
We did not have a way of writing on our planet. I am told that this is understandable, as all of the planets are not in frequent communication. Our language I write in is one that is of the winged people, who look so like the animals of home we call birds. Their wings allow them to fly, and they have beaks, but they are an intelligent people. The people in the town of my origin call the winged peoples gods, but Qiru has assured me that the winged people are no better than he or me. The winged society has simply unlocked the secrets of technology much faster. Qiru was not raised among the winged people, but by the ones that he says look much like trees. The winged people call those that look like trees who raised Qiru rooted people. While Qiru was raised among the rooted people, he explains that the winged people’s language is better for conveying our thoughts. It is a beautiful language, he explained, and showed me how to write in it. I like it so much more than the language of our planet.
The people in the town of our origin tried to worship Qiru as a god like they did the winged people, but Qiru did not want them to. I understand this much more than the worship of the winged people, but only because I know him and love him so well. His radiant skin is marvelous to behold, and Qiru can fly even without the aid of wings. His beauty is the least significant aspect of him, however, as his heart and ability to love others are his best traits. He says that he loves me the way he loves everyone, but also in a way that is special for just the two of us. My feelings are the same, which is why I would follow Qiru anywhere.
Qiru seems not to age at all, but I find myself feeling the strain of aging. Our children whom we raised are adults now too, and experience their own lives. Qiru has a gift for learning languages more than I do. He says that his skill at communication is not magical, but I believe that magic is not always a thing of the species.
I write now that someday, people will understand why we came to this new circular land.
We, the people Like Me voyaged beyond the heavens, and I could no longer say that I believed in the gods of my youth when there is more to everything than the large circular land and water that we soared away from. We were scared, and in search of a home away from those that sought to take Qiru in the name of their winged gods. It is we - our family, our friends, and those others sympathetic that understand that Qiru is a person like us but different. We settled on a nearby land and we have prospered. Our journey was long, but this place is better for us. There is no worry of famine, and there is no fear that we will be struck down. We have near to 51 12s of us, of greatly varied Earth appearance.
A Small Excerpt
This passage seems to have originally been longer, but was not well preserved.
Qiru will outlive me, but I have lived 46 360s already. Azi tells me that I might change my form and have some time longer with Qiru and our children, but I cannot bear to. Qiru has the burden of outliving our children, and I only want to be in the form that knew him and raised our children.
Friends and Family
This is believed to be written by Sha.
My children are also the children of my dear friends. Our friends are gone now, and Qiru and I were tearfully asked to raise their children after the accident. I find it joyful that my children share the bond that all of the people Like Me have. We are one. We are individual. We are love.
I love my children. I tell them tales of their parents of origin. I make sure that they know the love of my dear friends. Qiru is no good at the love of words, but he says the words, and he hugs the children, and takes them on flights.
My children do not hear the counting, do not know when they were born, do not know how to change form. I don’t find this disheartening, but I find it different.
Notes on Physiology
This is believed to be an early writing by Sha, beginning in Proto-Elamite.
Uyti and Bimin remind me that Earth children do not usually have eyes the same color as their blood. We wonder if something is wrong. The first children born on this new planet had brown or blue eyes. The first unusual eye color we saw was gold, but we wondered if perhaps that was just a novel shade of brown.
No, the children that we had born on Earth from us never had gold eyes nor red eyes.
And just today, Azi said a child was born with such an unusual eye color that the human language has no words for it. I will switch to writing exclusively in the language of the bird people Qiru taught us.
The language does indeed switch to Eesomdet
Purple. The newly born child’s eyes are purple.
Lifestyle
This is believed to be written by Sha, but the parchment wasn’t preserved well. Here is the only fragment remaining that Qiru seems to have been able to record.
Qiru builds away, and I ensure the children of our civilization learn, flourish, and can think intelligently.
More?
This is believed to be written by Sha. The parchment isn’t well-preserved, but the accompanying tablet translation has a few more words than what we see. Here is the only fragment remaining that Qiru seems to have been able to record.
Azi brought more of us to our settlement here on our new planet. He said he did not need to wander far to find more of us who were awake and in search of something more than open space. We embrace them with open arms, feed them delicious foods which they are excited to try, and call them Friends Like Us. I will start classes with them right away so that they may learn to speak with more than just the mind.
---
There are other fragments scattered about, but Qiru seems to have not translated those and/or they do not say much of interest.

EVENT: RAIDERS OF THE LOST CAVERN
On May 20, the crew of the ship Prosperity would divide itself temporarily into three groups for approximately one week:
The Quest: Karmel Vuker leads Ali, Beck, Skylar, HJ, and Butterfly to explore a cave on an uninhabited island.
Daphne: A solo Daphne visits her parents Svo and Nicolas Rux on their expansive Rungung family estate.
The Stronghold: Robin Astrea is acting leader over the rest of the crew in Rungung’s main port.
Daphne will have limited access to communications during the day, but The Quest and The Stronghold can have unrestricted communications. However, Karmel and Prosperity‘s crew are uncertain about whether the cave has characteristics that will block communications. Communications crew members Muffy and Stella will take rotating shifts to ensure that someone is always available to speak to, but the rest of the crew is welcome to communicate through the ship’s normal comms line. Additionally, the Communications crew members will monitor all types of communications methods that the ship might receive in case of the possible emergency in which Skylar innovates a method.
Notably for The Quest, the archaeological evidence indicates that only a djayyar making the attempt of their own volition will have success entering the cave. There are two djayyar at present on the ship (Ali and Samira), but only Ali will be making this journey.
---
In order to roleplay the consequences of these events, two threads will be opened in the “small threads” Discord server (affectionately nicknamed the “crab knife” server):
Open Comms, available to all characters except Daphne. This channel is for chat messages.
Quest Narrative, open to Karmel, Ali, Beck, Skylar, and HJ. Ship Medic Butterfly will be present, but as the character is an open skeleton character, the admin will narrate what this character does. This is a narrative thread, so roleplaying will take place in third person. At certain moments, the admin may provide narrated insight into what is in the cave.
The two small threads will be semi-synchronous. Idle chatter in the Open Comms thread can occur, but the conversation topics in Open Comms WILL move on if The Quest participants need to use it.
Participation in this event (in the Open Comms and/or Quest Narrative is mandatory for all player characters.
Further information will be disclosed in the Quest Narrative thread to “The Quest” group.
--
Players are encouraged to continue any threads from before this event.

PLOT DROP 19: NEW ARRIVAL
It has been almost exactly a year since the last time that Prosperity was on Kraysha. For the crew that have been with the ship since that time, perhaps this time will be different. Another year older, another year wiser, another year more complicated.
As some examples.... For Theo, who left Kraysha in a state of grief, is this too soon? For Skylar, this may be a more joyous occasion- to spend some time with his husband and his beloved adopted parents together in a place perhaps more familiar than Kor’Sel’Koo. For Laurie, there is always the chance that she encounters her out-of-touch Umbra parents. For Beck, a longtime pirate, this is the first time returning to her home planet not as a member of the crew of her cousin. For Robin and Ryder, there are so many complications with their parents that it is difficult to summarize them all.
✧・゚: *✧・゚:* *:・゚✧*:・゚✧ Some hours after arrival in the city of Rungung, the crew got settled in. Daphne had an announcement to make. After observing the past week’s competition between Skylar and Vajean and much deliberation, Skylar had been selected as the new Chief Engineer, with Laurie definitively promoted fully into the Electro-Technical position.Additionally, Prosperity would finally be gaining a new Surgeon after being without one since November. Samira Kehmet would be joining the ship’s crew shortly.
✧・゚: *✧・゚:* *:・゚✧*:・゚✧
Apart from the most personal of issues, there is always the upcoming “quest” set upon by Karmel. Karmel has chartered a smallish seaship (capable of air and surface water travel) for Beck to fly. Ali has agreed to join this quest, as it seems to require a djayyar. After this journey to a remote island, Karmel has agreed to find her own way back to Kor’Sel’Koo. Those with skills to contribute and an interest in going will be paid handsomely, but the contents of the cave and whether the secrets of immortality are too dangerous a risk. Daphne will not be going, but will permit unpaid leave to those who do (as they will be paid much more by Karmel in this instance).
“The Quest” will tentatively take place beginning May 20.
Confirmed Quest Attendees:
Karmel
Ali
Beck
Skylar
HJ
Butterfly (NPC Medic)
✧・゚: *✧・゚:* *:・゚✧*:・゚✧
Those who do not go on the the quest will be granted a small stipend to cover a few meals out or entertainment at shore. Robin will be left in charge temporarily of this portion of the crew, as there is still ship maintenance, meals, communications with the quest crew, and supply purchasing to arrange. The crew may not be quite as busy, but Daphne has expressed privately to Robin that this is a low-stakes test for him to flex his leadership ability.
But why does this opportunity come up in the first place? Daphne will be taking this time to visit with her parents and ensure that everything was in order with their company... She disclosed the “why” of this information by message to Robin, Beck, Skylar, Ali, Muffy, Arys, and all of the medics with directions to let the rest of the crew know. She didn’t want to make a big announcement about this matter because she already didn’t feel comfortable discussing it in a town hall format. (Daphne neglected to mention to her crewmates that she would be reviewing other topics like the Makhaira matter)
✧・゚: *✧・゚:* *:・゚✧*:・゚✧
Once Samira was at least settled enough to be considered “welcomed” onto the ship, the crew will be (variously) doing some work unloading some of the goods that were acquired from Earth, negotiating, scoping out the job market, and... possibly trying to avoid The Bat Ray and Galx authorities (Ayshena, Havok, Hael, Selleck) whom Greg reported have been spotted in port!

PLOT DROP 18: A THOUSAND YEARS
Karmel will continue to remain on board the Prosperity for the time being, as the group has not yet made a decision on whether some or all of them will join her on a quest on Kraysha. On the KBW, Karmel finally announced to the group that she believes the secrets of immortality may lie on an uninhabited island on Kraysha that houses a cave. This cave can only be unlocked by a djayyar. With few djayyar, and fewer that would know about the cave, and fewer still that would be able to translate the artifacts and documents that relate to this cave, it seems that the cave has been untouched for many thousands of years. Karmel also believes that there are some Earth-originating characteristics to this cave. Karmel requires Ali at a minimum to go with her.
She also would need a pilot to take her there, so Beck is the second key member. Karmel mentioned by name that she would want Stella and Ali to go, but anyone with good Earth knowledge or applicable skills would also be able to go. That said... it all hinges on Ali’s decision to go.
In the meantime, Daphne accepted a job on Marloken to transport some vinyl records from there to Halen’Kor. It’s a simple and quick enough job, only really complicated by a heavy Galactic Union presence in the area. Unfortunately, Ayshena has stopped patrolling so closely to Earth, and seems to be spending some time closer to her home planet.
Prosperity is due to arrive in the city of Yeteel, Marloken, a small beach city where the client (Rusif Mek Aroliez, a vanneer with a good reputation in the media piracy community) resides. Yeteel has a moderately successful tourism industry due to it being a leisurely thirty minute train ride to the Crystalline Gorge. The Crystalline Gorge is an underground river cavern glittering with blue and clear quartz.
The ship will arrive in Yeteel on April 9th.
NOTE: Skylar asked some questions to Zuytri, and this information will only be known to Skylar. Other characters do not know of this information unless they discussed it with Skylar. Zuytri told Skylar that Karmel tried to persuade Zuytri to go with her to the odd djayyar cave on Kraysha in the past. However, Zuytri did not have a good feeling about this idea, and Zuytri also did not have anything to gain by going on this expedition.

PLOT DROP 16: I WANT TO BELIEVE
Knowing is half the battle, and there are too many secrets on Prosperity.
Karmel announced one day to the ship’s crew that there would be a change of plans. Nobody looked more startled by the news than Daphne, who usually had such a good poker face.
Instead of going to Kor’Sel’Koo, Prosperity would be traveling to the Kuiper Belt Waystation. As unglamorous as the name might sound in English, the Kuiper Belt Waystation (or KBW) carried some weighty prestige in the galaxy. The KBW was neutral territory in the best way possible. It was close enough to Earth to make for an excellent stopping point for pirates without being illegal, and it wasn’t a planet subject to too much Galactic Union jurisdiction.
Owned by Zuytri Pleinru, a djayyar mutual friend of Karmel and Derros, it was well-known for being a spectacular stopping point if you could get an appointment on the mobile space station. KBW is what Soulf wanted to be (and failed to improve on). Unfortunately, the KBW went dark for the last year or so while subject to the investigation by the Galactic Union. Karmel would call this ‘bullshittery’ because the Galactic Union made its own use of the KBW during this period without Zuytri seeing a gixys of profit.
But the KBW is back, baby, and having a grand reopening gala. Karmel’s contacts agreed to convene with her on the KBW instead to take advantage of the gala opportunity.
As much as Daphne liked the idea of going to see the KBW, she did not like having plans changed on her, and suspected ulterior motives at play. She messaged Robin and Gwen privately, and let them know that she would be calling an all-crew meeting with Karmel not invited so that all of the cards could be put on the table. Daphne refused to let Karmel’s bullshittery get in the way of her crew’s safety, security, and My Chemical Romance concert attendance.
IN SUMMARY: Karmel has a friend named Zuytri. Zuytri is also friends with Derros. Zuytri owns a massive space station restaurant/hotel/conference center called KBW that flies around the Kuiper Belt and used to be a popular rest stop for pirates and space travelers. The KBW was shut down by the Galactic Union for a year. Karmel has changed our plans suddenly so that the crew is no longer going to Kor’Sel’Koo, and will instead be going to the KBW. Daphne doesn’t like how Karmel is making decisions, and wants to hold a meeting for the crew (WITHOUT KARMEL) to let them know about Karmel’s immortality skeeziness so that the crew can decide what they want to do.
NOTE: The KBW is an excellent location for any new characters to join up on the ship. We will be there just in time for current players’ third characters to join up with the ship, as well. At that time, a highly desired skeleton, the quartermaster (with an Aubrey Plaza faceclaim), will be opened for applications.

PLOT DROP 15: MY IMMORTAL
“Have you ever desired immortality, Daphne?”
“I’d be lying if I say I hadn’t, but that isn’t something I want now. I’m not sure if I believe in some divine purpose, and I don’t believe the specific lengths of our lifetimes make it better or worse, but I have more to do with my time than try to take efforts to prolong my lifetime, Karmel. Why?”
Karmel might have looked slightly disappointed by that answer. “This is a topic that has possessed me for a long time. My particular family line of Ly’Daesun, we have an unpredictable lifespan. The lower and upper extremes of our species seem about equally as likely, and any time in between is perfectly reasonable as well. I could expire within several years, or I could see sixty or more. I like to make my own odds, and there is only so much that even advanced medicine can do to prolong my life.”
Daphne pursed her lips and pretended to close her office door. She left it a crack open “We have had an affable relationship for quite some time, but I don‘t understand why you are telling me this.”
“I’d like to stay on your ship for a little longer after we return to my home planet, and I am asking this now in case I need to make other arrangements. Much of your crew was formerly resident to Kraysha, yes? I would like for you to take me to Kraysha after Kor’Sel’Koo, and I would like to hire the services of your Earth Expert for four days.”
Daphne furrowed her brow. “My... Earth Expert? Ali is his own person, Karmel. I will give him the leave if he makes the decision himself. Could you tell why would you want his services on Kraysha?”
Tapping her lip, Karmel gave a noncommittal expression. “And... I would also like to have your Pilot.”
“Again, Beck can make the decision for herself, but can I have some details as to what you are doing with my crew?”
Tutting, Karmel waved a hand. “I have great interest in what it takes to prolong my lifespan. Out of your crew, those are the two that I need to accompany me directly on the mission. There are others I might want to bring along. The Communications girl who always seems surprised by things that should not be surprising would be the most useful out of those. But I am only asking for the bare minimum.”
Daphne exhaled slowly. “You can ask Stella along if that would be helpful to you as well. If you are going to delay us for four days and you need the Earth Expert, being down two crew members is about the same as three.”
Karmel leaned forward and ran a thumb along Daphne’s cheek in a dangerous way. “Those you ask will be paid handsomely, of course. And you will be compensated for your time. You know that I am good for my money.“
Daphne clenched her jaw. “I know. Let’s review the plans again for Japan. Let’s not bother with your immortality quest now- Ali was obviously more focused on other things this week, and I don’t want to deal with this for the others.”
Making an agreeable noise, Karmel went back to run-of-the-mill owrk
Daphne (nor Karmel) knew it at the time, but there were two people outside of the door that did manage to overhear the conversation completely unnoticed: Gwen Volnal and Robin Astrea.

PLOT DROP 13: SHE SENDS HER REGARDS
Kor’Sel’Koo: One and half times the size of Earth with twice the population. While the planet houses so many, it rarely feels cramped. Over the last twenty millennia, Ly’Daesun have carefully and thoughtfully shaped the landscape to better sustain their population. Gently terraced mountains and reinforced cavern systems have been shaped to provide more extensive living space for the people that live there. Entire cities with artificial sunlight flourish below the surface, standing the test of years of wind, weather, natural disaster, and influx of population.
1,700 years ago, a colony of Erkuss settled in one of the less populated portions of the continent. After some conflicts between the Erkuss population and the Ly’Daesun, the conflicts have largely been ameliorated.
Major and minor settlements are connected due to a vast intercontinental network of underground railways, as well as exquisitely natural tunnels and bridges for foot and bus.
~~
On the equivalent of October 25, Prosperity touches down on the city-state-island of Twarvu. The city features multiple levels of space. The air-and-spaceport, a ski resort, and some industrial buildings are located in the mountains. A variety of gardens, small farms, commercial buildings, apartments, mansions and thoughtfully constructed buildings exist on the main surface. Most buildings are landscaped, with rooftop and building-side gardens. Below the surface, the caverns feature a robust nightlife and chic residences.
Twarvu Population: 87% Far’Ly’Dae, 8% Erkuss, 3% Vanneer, 1% Carrek, <1% Umbra (appearing to live as Erkuss)
Locations of Interest in Twarvu:
Ergo: A vineyard, meditation retreat, and event center. The on-site catering company operates using the same locally-sourced mostly-vegetarian ingredients as the on-site restaurant. All event centers feature elegant pergolas with surprisingly weather-proof retractable roof and walls. Located on the surface level.
Weegl: An open market with a variety of local goods and art. This location favors local crafts, not imported items. Located on the cavern level.
Devisonian Gallery: An intergalactic art gallery featuring different wings for Earth Art, Twarvu Art, Greater Kor’Sel’Koo Art, and “Points of Beauty” sourced from other planets. The rooftop garden often hosts events (catered by a variety of restaurants) and concerts. Located on the surface level.
Water Therapeutics: A trendy Ly’Daesun owned water therapy center that involves immersing one’s self in a private water chamber with pulsing waves. It is supposed to be very relaxing. Located on the cavern level.
Yesserdi Resort: A ski resort located on the mountain level. Most of Twarvu is in moderate springtime weather at present, but Yesserdi features skiing and sledding for everyone and hot chocolate for the non-Far’Ly’Dae guests. The restaurant itself has a limited but wonderful menu.
Ux-Traction: A nightclub and sports gaming center that feels a bit like a Lucky Strike bowling center for local sports. Located on the cavern level.
Revvly: A capsule hotel with in-capsule instant food machines. Located on the cavern level
Cresstly: A hotel featuring suites and cabins. Located on the surface level.
Nyver: A mixology locale that caters to all species- includes a menu of water in various forms (frozen, encased in thin layers of lining) suitable for Ly’Daesun and all, plus a small but super-fun alcoholic drink menu in similar molecular gastronomy for liquids fashion. Features a small dance floor.
Locations of Interest in Mluvp (an island-city-state a thirty minute tunnel bus ride away)
Clay Pail: A new spa run by Laykul. It is rather new, and is struggling to find its feet. They do serve some good fruit bowls, though. The crew has... gift certificates for free services here.
Darker Image: A cutting edge store for technology, including suped-up media players to house Earth songs. It’s also got a dome laser light show theater attached.
Barkbank Park: An amusement waterpark with technologically incredible watercoasters. Features a very well-decorated lazy river.
Slurps: A drink shop featuring alcoholic, water, and non-alcoholic drinks that offers small private theaters to watch films with friends.
Correspondence from your patron
Karmel Vuker sends her regards:
Hello, Prosperity, and welcome to Twarvu. Your captain has informed me that two of your crew will be celebrating their partnership. Congratulations to Ali and Skylar. I have enclosed a gift certificate good for two drinks each at one of my favorite local establishments, Nyver, to commemorate the occasion. I will give you the space to enjoy the wedding, and will meet up with you when the events have concluded. We will be working together very closely in the near future, so it would mean a great deal to me if you took the time to relax and enjoy the city that I love before we meet. When we embark on our trip to Earth, it will be to a multitude of locations on the planet to satisfy the requests of my clients, as well as to procure interesting pieces. I look forward to our partnership, and will send further correspondence in perhaps 7 to 10 days. I will keep in touch with your Captain and Communications team.
Best,
Karmel
The Wedding
Is on October 26. Let’s plan! Please ask players Sarah or Caitlin if you have any questions about the ceremony itself, and ask the admin about logistics for the event. Thank you!

Cerkarramel “Karmel” Luwelantnin Vuker
Pronouns: She/her
Position: Patron and Art Dealer
Age: 51
Romantic and/or Sexual Preference: Bisexual
Species: Far’Ly’Dae
Home Planet: Kor’Sel’Koo
Faceclaim/Humanoid Appearance: Rachel Weisz
True Appearance: Karmel has striking green eyes, and skin colored a light olive green. Her hair is a thick but neat array of leaves and branches.
Information:
Karmel has had a colorful and interesting career trajectory. Her first job out of school was as a model. After two years, she ended up shifting into emceeing events and hosting her own art talk radio show that was very well-received on her home planet of Kor’Sel’Koo.
When she was 24, she met Orman Vuker, an acclaimed interior designer 22 years her senior. They wed within six months of meeting. This ended up being a great boon to both of their careers, and they became mainstays in the Kor’Sel’Koo art scene. The couple has two grown children- Eenyuh, a Civil Engineer, and C’tau, a fashion designer.
Karmel enjoyed her increased exposure to the art scene, and grew more and more interested in unusual, rare, and especially unique art pieces. She became steadily more interested in Earth art, and fell into dealing the pieces. She quit her radio host job, and focused more of her attentions on lucrative and interesting art dealing.
Eventually, she realized that she could contract pirate crews to bring her to Earth as part of the deal. She seems to have no interest in forming a crew of her own, and has little loyalty to any particular captain or ship. As a patron of Earth art, she likes to funnel money into the works of Earth artists and the shipping and handling back into space of such by pirate crews.
Karmel is surprisingly competent when it comes to missions and ship work, but she can be severe and demanding when it comes to perfection. She does not like to perform menial work, and argues with captains that try to set this upon her. She is much happier with paperwork, projects of analysis, and Earth expertise.
Rumor has it that Karmel and Orman (or “Ormel”, as the press likes to call them) have had a marriage on the rocks for the last fifteen years. They have separate residences, and have not been seen in public together for twelve years.

PLOT DROP 12: GAMBLERS’ DELIGHT
On October 9th, right on schedule, Prosperity touched down on the outpost planet Aemmu in the city of Nackron.
Meeting Up with Derros
The crew receives word from Derros Laernal to meet up at Rissto’s Palace, a Casino/Hotel. Derros apologizes, but there are currently supply chain issues with parts. The order that he acquired of parts had some shoddy workmanship. After doing some digging, Derros suspects that the Beersoz-Heflongull family’s hold over a great many industries is responsible. He believes that better parts may be available in a few weeks. While these are common parts for both air and space travel, they are not necessarily manufactured close by.
Derros states that he arranged for some intermediary gigs on Aemmu in the meantime for the crew to undertake for the next week, including some consulting work for Karmel Vuker, the patron of Prosperity’s next lucrative gig.
Essentially, the crew planned to only need two days on Aemmu, but some of the key parts will be available in a week. The rest of the parts we need will be available on Kor’Sel’Koo- our next stop.
For now, Prosperity’s crew will need to entertain themselves... and do a little work.
Aemmu
Aemmu is an extraordinarily well-developed outpost planet. The elected officials of the various settlements have been considering becoming a member planet of the Galactic Union due to the growing legitimate industry and (mostly) Vanneer families and family units that have been moving there over the last thirty years.
There are six small cities and nineteen formally recognized towns on Aemmu. Many migratory Vanneer family units that choose more self-sufficient lifestyles are living outside of these settlements. The planet’s population is around 500,000 people.
One of the more popular cities, Tvelon, is proudly almost exclusively Far’Ly’Dae, and has no foods restaurants or grocery stores within city limits. This makes it something of a tourist attraction.
Nackron is a very different city. Nackron is a smuggler-oriented city on Aemmu. The city council of Nackron consists of 11 individuals elected from each of the 11 districts in the city. The city’s population is about 74% Vanneer, 11% Erkuss, 10% Far’Ly’Dae, 4% Carrek, and less than 1% other. The council over-indexes with Erkuss. The council has 8 Vanneer council members, 2 Erkuss council members, and 1 Djayyar council member.
Nackron Attractions:
Skeemol Institute of Art: A fine art gallery. The art dealings for Earth art are more popular here than those for galactic art (i.e. art done by vanniree, erkuss, far’ly’dae, carreki, etc. rather than Earth humans), but the galactic art is more profitable.
Gamblers’ Delight: A cluster of four casino/hotels on one street. None of these are particularly incredible, but they offer a lot to do.
Rissto’s Palace: The most popular casino and meeting place with the smuggling community on Gamblers’ Delight. Focuses a lot on cards. All of the dealers are required to be trained using Earth-style techniques. Most actually trained on Earth. Their desserts are really delicious here.
Benjamin Franklin Slots: The largest variety of slot machines in Gamblers’ Delight. A lot of really inventive machines- some based on Earth ones, and some innovated elsewhere.
Ubbly: This place has some casino slots, cards, and games, but is best known for their rich and varied food. They have four restaurants (including a particularly well-reviewed dinner theater).
Eekin’s: The best hotel in Gamblers’ Delight. The rooms are the nicest and the service is the best here. The cards dealers cheat, though.
The Bookshelf: A printing company that specializes in reprinting Earth literature into Earth-style paperback books.
Mikael Angelows: A galaxy-famous salon, specializing in elaborate hairstyles and manicures for all species.
Karmel Vuker
Karmel Vuker is a famous independent distributor of Earth media. Unlike Rux Enterprises which is a mass distribution enterprise, Vuker specializes in uncommon and often unique items. She prefers to travel with the pirate crews she hires, and isn’t afraid of getting her hands dirty. She is married to Orman Vuker, a famous interior designer, but the two have not been spotted together in public for at least twelve years. Both Far’Ly’Dae reside on Kor’Sel’Koo.
She is a stickler for perfection, and she pays very well. Consultant work for her typically involves performing and writing a lot of research on media and technical ship knowledge.

PLOT DROP 17: HISTORY REPEATS ITSELF
The event on the KBW was moderately successful for the Prosperity. While the ship did manage to pick up three new crew members (Theo, Ian, and Daniel), there were also some very uncomfortable revelations. Perhaps the most dramatic was the reveal that Gwen Volnal was married to (of all people) Mark Espionage from The Bat Ray. A lesser-known revelation that influenced the Gwen reveal is actually known only to only Daphne Rux: that her secret ex-girlfriend Makhaira Espionage (yes, the very same Espionage family) wanted her back and it was at least partly for a promotion! The only person that has any information about Daphne and Makhaira’s past relationship outside of the Espionage family is actually Stella Sarasvati, whom was only given this information due to being in gerbil form at the time. Stella swore herself to secrecy, but Daphne does not trust Stella (or anyone else) to vent about this issue. Stella had her own strange drama when she and Ian, another member of her rare species, ran into Bucket again, who is in denial about being that same species. Bucket was essentially threatened by Laurie (reeling from first I-love-yous and almost sucking her boss Skylar’s blood) into backing off. Ryder Astrea experienced a deeply uncomfortable situation where all of his past hook-ups were in the same place at the same time, and Robin Astrea had a less uncomfortable but still odd experience when his ex-boyfriend Theo Seong took up the invitation to join the ship.
Needless to say, the crew was excited to accomplish a collective dream of seeing the band My Chemical Romance in concert. The Sydney, Australia performance on March 20th went great until mate Greg decided to (completely platonically) bring a new friend on board the ship to show off his rock collection. Greg (beloved, but not known for good judgment) lost track of dates and times and who was supposed to be crew, and HJ Violet was many miles away from Earth before anyone realized what was wrong.
With a human not in the know of aliens aboard, the Prosperity was seriously at risk of further Galactic Union scrutiny. Daphne recommended that the group pretend that HJ was a descendant of the colony of Tarryville, perhaps related to one of the crew members. Which one could be decided later. For now, though, the ship is going to need to take a detour to somewhere less scrutinized  before heading to somewhere else. Robin and Daphne discussed the situation, and decided that the KBW would be the best place to regroup. After some debate by the crew and what to do, the ship will arrive back on the KBW early on March 24 to do some group bonding and figure out what is even happening with HJ. The KBW will be much emptier than it was during the event, so we should all have more privacy.
To make things more complicated... Karmel has been hinting that she has other news (we can only assume regarding her weird immortality mission) to dispense before leaving the KBW.

EVENT: SAILING THROUGH SPACE
Prosperity departed from Earth, keen on returning later in March for a My Chemical Romance concert. Until the return to Earth, the crew will enjoy an exciting adventure at the Kuiper Belt Waystation.
The KBW
The Kuiper Belt Waystation (KBW) is like a super hotel/convention center/cruise ship/space station. It has rooms to stay in, observation rooms to gaze upon space, a convention center, a theater, botanical garden, crop garden, three swimming pools, a spa, and NEW for 2023 a bowling alley.
You arrive at the KBW’s port and a meet and greet with other pirates is in full swing. Choose your accommodations (read on) at the adjoining lobby, and enjoy the fun.
The proprietor Zuytri is candid that the visit is not completely free, but she isn’t making a lot of money off of this grand opening. Providing the food for these events so that everyone gets the chance to meet up is important to her, and she can’t just give away accommodations. That said, for what you are getting, the prices are completely reasonable and even a good bargain- especially considering the networking opportunities.
The Main Event
A convention will take place from March 1 - March 8. Each night of the “main event” will include a nice meal and non-alcoholic drink for all guests paying for accommodations.
March 1: Meet and greet
March 2: Fun Day... All of the fun day events are still available the rest of the days, but today some of them are FREE. Bowling, swimming, the high-tech arcade (prizes are never free), a 15 minute massage at the spa (one per guest), a twenty minute preview of the musical extravaganza (Cats)
March 3: Retailer convention (freebies galore)
March 4: The Grande Ball... Dress in your finest and dance the night away with the Earth media smuggling community
March 5: Retailer convention (any freebies that are left galore)
March 6: Rest and relaxation... Star Wars movie marathon all day! Wear your pajamas (cover all private parts) and enjoy some films
March 7: Learning Day... Top industry experts will share their secrets to success in piracy (and possibly try to recruit you to their crew)
March 8: Fond farewells (refreshments served)
Guests are welcome to extend their stay for longer, but there will not be any official events after that.
Accommodation Options
Accommodations for all budgets are available. Daphne will not subsidize room accommodations, but she will make sure every member of the ship gets enough food to eat and water to drink one way or another. You are welcome to choose your accommodation level, and don’t need to tell the admin.
Free: Guests are welcome to slumber on their own ship, although they will have to pay for all of their own food, including at the main event.
Cheap: A low-cost option is to sleep in the “Annex” which is something like barracks with triple-decker bunk beds. The beds are comfy, but there is very little privacy. Shared dormitory-style bathrooms and limited private dressing rooms are available. One meal a day and all food at the main event are included.
Reasonable: Suite rooms (two bedrooms that sleep two each for a total of four guests) are available at a reasonable cost with one meal a day, unlimited coffee and juice, and all food at the main event included. If you only have one or two people, you can be randomly paired up with another pair/single to take advantage of price. Unlimited pool access, free bowling shoes rentals if you bowl, and discounted tickets to Cats are included.
Pricey: Double accommodation rooms with all-you-can-eat food and non-alcoholic drink included throughout your stay are available. One room includes two FREE tickets to Cats once during your stay, 3 hours of bowling to be used at some point during your stay, and unlimited pool access
In Attendance
