Austria's largest air show ends with public success and presence of Embraer's KC-390

The tenth Airpower held in Zeltweg, Austria, offered on September 2 and 3 an excellent program of flights and rare visitors to the static exhibition. Check out in images what 275,000 visitors were able to check out in two days.
AirPower, the largest air show in Europe after the Royal International Air Tattoo (RIAT) in Fairford, which is organized by the Austrian Federal Army as an organizer together with partners Red Bull and the state of Styria, offered a total of about 200 planes and helicopters, including Embraer's KC-390 multi-mission transport aircraft.

One debut was the visit of a Y-20 military transport plane of the Air Force of the People's Liberation Army of China (PLAAF) that landed at Zeltweg airport and can be closely observed by the public present.
With good flight time, the pilots and flight squads showed a great program. From gliders to historical planes, helicopters and more modern fighters, the pilots flew unique maneuvers. The new Austrian Federal Army helicopter, the Leonardo AW169M, could also be seen in flight.
A world premiere was a great demonstration in flight of the Austrian Federal Army with a total of nine Alouette III type helicopters, one Eurofighter, three PC-6 and one AW169M helicopter. All the aircraft in this demonstration moved to a symphony specially composed and organized by the well-known arranger Tristan Schulze and recorded by a selection of about 100 military musicians.
The company Red Bull itself brought part of its collection of historical aircraft to the event, including flights with the beautiful Douglas DC-6 aircraft and an AlphaJet jet that flew with a Eurofighter Typhoon of the Austrian Air Force.
For more than a year, the air show was planned in the smallest detail. A total of more than 6,500 employees were on duty, of which 4,500 were soldiers. About 20 kilometers of barriers were built to protect the terrain and control visitor flows.
According to official data from the state government of Styria, the AirPower weekend alone brings an aggregate value of about 9 million euros in the Murtal region due to additional demand in the areas of tourism, leisure and commerce, as well as gastronomy. "Mmurtal was in fact totally reserved, all catering establishments in the region recorded an increase in frequency and sales - and this days before," says Lieutenant Colonel Michael Hendel, head of the Airpower22 project office.

Textron Aviation announced during the Farnborogh Airshow a variant of the maritime patrol aircraft of its Cessna Citation Longitude aircraft.
"The Cessna Citation Longitude jet offers excellent value for Special Mission operations due to its acquisition cost and operating cost combined with excellent speed, range and payload capacity," said Bob Gibbs, vice president of Special Mission Sales at Textron Aviation. “Textron Aviation has developed and certified factory provisions for various mission equipment to support maritime patrol and surveillance missions, maximizing the value of operations around the world.”
With a maximum resistance of eight hours and a maximum range of 3,500 nautical miles, the Cessna Citation Longitude MPA is equipped with a transmissive radome for maritime radars, Beyond Line of Sight (BLOS) fairing, electro-optical/infrared (EO/IR) sensors and optional Night Vision Goggle (NVG)-compatible lighting, making it ideal for land and water surveillance missions, carrying out search and rescue tasks, border patrol, fishing monitoring and much more.

I recently compared the Cessna Citation X to a woman who is super hot, yet high maintenance and no personality; however, the Cessna Citation Sovereign is a much different bird...
When the Sovereign is parked alongside the Citation X, pilots are instantly attracted to the beautiful curves of the X. There's no denying that she's the prettiest bird on a ramp, but don't be deceived by looks...
The Sovereign may not get as many glances, but she has something better... A simple beauty about her. She won't fly as fast as a X, she doesn't have the sexy curves, but she's loyal and always cares for her pilots.
She rarely has weight and balance issues; excellent maintenance reliability and rarely leaves her pilot's stranded; handles wonderfully in a crosswind; beautiful takeoff and landing performance; excellent single-engine climb performance that leaves a Citation X and most other corporate aircraft sitting on the ramp, while she climbs to the heavens.
There's only one complaint from Sovereign pilots... She's so good at what she does, they stay busier than other pilots. When a Citation X begins to fuss about departure, the Sovereign takes her trip without complaint.
If you ask a Sovereign pilot why they fly her, you'll be greeted with varied responses; however, if you ask enough pilots, a common response emerges... It's a simple reply... A response that demonstrates her loyalty... "She'll always bring me home."
