Tumblr media
Benefits of HPV Vaccination
The HPV vaccine is highly effective in preventing HPV-related cancers and genital warts.  Vaccination is recommended for both males and females between the ages of 9 and 45.
HPV Vaccine and Cervical Cancer:
The huge burden of cervical cancer mortality, especially in the low- and middle-income countries, can be greatly attributed to decades of neglect by the global health community. Nevertheless, with the recent increase in global advocacy for women’s health, the World Health Organization (WHO) devised as strategy to achieve its goal for 2030. By 2030 the WHO strives to achieve the following:
90% of girls (15 years of age) are to be fully vaccinated with HPV vaccine.
70% of women must be screened using a high-performance test by 35 years of age and again by 45 years of age.
90% of women suffering from cervical disease are treated, which should include:
90% of women with precancer treated.
90% of women with invasive cancer managed.
Through these goals, WHO anticipates for a global elimination of cervical cancer, which can be defined as an incidence of cases < 4 per 1,00,000 women per year globally.
Tumblr media
Role of HPV vaccination in reducing cervical cancers
The WHO aims to achieve the goal through:
Low-cost approaches to screening and treating cervical cancer precursors
Development of resource-appropriate management guidelines
Novel approaches to surgical training
Initiatives to increase global access to anti-cancer drugs
Along with the above factors, the WHO also ensures a constant and steady flow of commercial availability of prophylactic HPV vaccines which also plays an important role in the eradication of cervical cancers.
Among various other factors which prompted the initiation of the aforementioned campaign, the prime reason included is the slow roll-out of HPV vaccination. The other factors could include low levels of screening as well as limited access to cervical cancer treatment.

HPV vaccine – Why is it so important
Ramesh Chouhan felt a lump on his neck. Within a few days, it grew bigger. He immediately booked an appointment with his doctor and was advised of a biopsy. The results indicated that the lump was cancer caused by the HPV virus. This shocked Ramesh and many others too who thought that the HPV virus only led to cervical cancer among women.
But the fact is that the HPV virus can affect men and anyone sexually active.
Usually, the HPV virus is killed by the immune system in almost 2 years along with medications depending on each case. But in some cases, a part of the virus lingers on in the body and turns normal cells into cancerous cells.
Vaccines save millions of lives every year. Natural immunity toward a particular disease develops after one has contracted the virus and recovers but at times the virus can lead to death therefore vaccination against diseases is most important.
Similarly, the HPV Vaccine or the vaccine against cervical cancer can protect you against the life-threatening human papillomavirus virus which is a sexually transmitted infection.
Two vaccines licensed globally are available in India; Gardasil and Cervarix but at high rates. The launch of the CERVAVAC vaccine made in India at an affordable rate for the HPV virus can save many lives. India accounts for 1.23 lakh cases and around 67,000 deaths every year due to the HPV virus.
This vaccine will be commercially available in India by the end of 2022.
Why is the HPV Vaccine important?
This vaccine can give you 90% protection against the HPV virus. It also protects against the head, neck, and anal cancers in both men and women. It also protects men against penile cancer, and women against cervical cancer, vaginal cancer, and vulvar cancer.
The vaccine can also be administered to children and can be given from the age of 9 yrs. and adults up to age 45.
There is no test to detect the early onset of HPV vaccine among men therefore vaccination is a must. Among women, a pap test can detect the early onset of cervical cancer.
Cervical Cancer is preventable with the help of the vaccine and can be treated effectively among those vaccinated.
Facts about the HPV vaccine
Research has shown that receiving the HPV vaccine at a young age is not linked to an early start of sexual activity.
Yes, the vaccine needs to be given before contracting the virus. Once diagnosed with the virus the vaccine is not that effective.
Yes, the response to the vaccine is much better when given at a young age compared to an older age.
Testing positive for the virus does not necessarily mean that you also have cancer. Further tests and diagnoses along with follow-up tests are required and very important.
The possibility of developing HPV cancer increases with age.
You will not contact the virus from the vaccination and develop cancer. This is a false thought.
What is the dosage of the HPV Vaccine
The two-dose schedule is effective among teenagers up to the age of 15.
Those who receive the dosage after the age of 15 need a three-dose schedule
Research shows everyone should be vaccinated before the age of 26 years.
The HPV vaccine is given as an injection on the upper arm.
A gap of 6 months is required between each dose.
Side effects of the Vaccine.
There is no risk associated with taking the HPV vaccine and it is as safe for boys/men as for girls/ women.
Research has shown that minimal side effects like soreness around the injected area, slight flu like symptoms or a runny nose is all that may occur.

Cervical Cancer-an overview
Cervical cancer is the second most common form of cancer among  women in the age group 15 to 44 years.  It is also the most preventable form of cancer. In this blog post, we will  discuss about  cervical cancer , its symptoms, and the best ways to protect Yourself from this cancer. We will also provide you with some tips on how to prevent cervical cancer, including things you can do to reduce your risk of getting the disease. Finally, we will outline the best treatments for cervical cancer and the available treatments. Read on to learn everything you need to know about cervical cancer.
What is cervical cancer?
Cervical cancer is a cancer of the cervix, which is the lower part of the uterus. The cervix is a thin, mucous-covered tube that opens into the vagina. The uterus is a small, muscular organ that holds the baby in a  pregnant woman. Cervical cancer is the most common cancer in women aged 25 to 44 years. Among other  types of cancer in women,  cervical cancer is the most common cancer of the female reproductive system. It is caused by the human papillomavirus (HPV). HPV is a virus that can cause other types of cancers, including cancers of the head and neck, penis, and rectum.
The causes of cervical cancer:
Cervical cancer is the most common cancer in women. The majority (83%) of cervical cancers are caused by human papillomavirus (HPV), although other factors also play a cumulative role. HPV is a sexually transmitted infection, and half of HPV infections are with a high-risk (cancer causing) type of HPV. HPV16 and HPV18 are the types that  cause most cases of cervical cancer. There are over 100 different types of HPV, and many of them are spread through sexual contact. HPV can also be spread through contact with the fluids from an HPV-infected person, such as during anal or oral sex.
The host immune system controls most of the HPV infections, and they tend to go away without any symptoms. However, about 30% of people who are infected will develop cervical cancer, as the high-risk HPV infection lasts for many years and causes changes in the cervical cells. The lifetime risk of developing cervical cancer is about 1 in 6 for women and about 1 in 11 for men.
Some risk factors which act cumulatively include having a weak immune system, smoking, family history of cervical cancer, sexually active before age 18 years and/or with multiple sexual partners, using oral contraceptive pills and multiparity (giving birth to many children).
HPV vaccination:
Cervical cancer is preventable and highly curable when diagnosed early. A three pronged approach can prevent cervical cancers including: HPV vaccination, routine screening and appropriate follow-up treatment when necessary. HPV vaccination is a safe and effective way to prevent cervical cancer. Given the fact that HPV is transmitted sexually, the vaccine offers most protection when given before a person becomes sexually active. Sexually active people may have been exposed to the HPV types targeted by the vaccine, and hence derive less benefit from the vaccine. Two doses of the vaccine are given to both boys and girls <15 years of age. Catch-up vaccination is done for women upto 45 years of age. It is of no use among women >45 years of age. Males upto the age of 21 years can be vaccinated.
Given the renewed commitment for prevention at Sammprada, You can access vaccination services for HPV.
Symptoms of cervical cancer
The most common symptom is a vaginal or cervical discharge that is unusual in color, smell, or consistency.
Other symptoms may include:
vaginal bleeding after intercourse, betweeen menstrual periods or after menopause,
pain during  urination, sometimes with blood in urine
Heavy menstrual periods which last longer than normal,
pain or bleeding during bowel movements
persistent vaginal odor
fatigue
loss of appetite
general feeling of illness
weight loss
dull back ache
It is ideal for women with such symptoms to consult with a Gynaec-oncologist. Sammprada offers the best diagnostic services and treatment regimen for the management of cervical cancer.
How to screen for cervical cancer
Routine screening can be done with HPV test and Pap test. HPV test checks cells for infection with high-risk HPV types. Pap test can find abnormal cell changes and pre-cancers which can be treated before they turn into cancer. Screening with Pap test can be initiated at 21 years and is done at a frequency of once in 3 years. HPV testing is done when Pap is abnormal. This can be done upto the age of 65 years, and for women >65 years screening test is done only for pre-cancerous lesions for next 20 years. LBC test which has a better yield than Pap test is also done in our center.
How to detect cervical cancer
If cervical cancer is suspected following screening, a thorough examination of cervix is done using a special magnifying instrument (Colposcope) for detecting abnormal cells. Biospy of cervical cells is done and the sample is tested in a laboratory. Following the diagnosis of cervical cancer, further imaging tests such as PET scan are done to determine the extent (stage) of cancer.
How to treat cervical cancer
The method treatment depends on the type of cancer and its spread. The treating Gynaec-oncologist will decide either/or a combination of surgery, chemotherapy and radiation.
Early stage cancer is usually treated with surgery. Radiation therapy uses high-powered energy beams such as X-rays or protons, to kill the cancer cells. Chemotherapy is a form of drug treatment which uses chemicals to kill the cancer cells. The focus of ‘Targeted therapy’ is on specific weakness present within the cancer cells. Immunotherapy helps the host’s immune system to fight cancer.
Tips for preventing cervical cancer
Among the many measures  to  prevent cervical cancer, some of the important ones  include:
Regular screening  for cervical cancer
Avoid smoking
HPV vaccination
Limiting  exposure to environmental carcinogens
Eating a balanced diet
Regular exercise
Conclusion:
Cervical cancer is a life threatening  disease,  if not diagnosed and treated in time.  For the purpose of prevention or if you have some of the mentioned symptoms  of cervical cancer, make sure to access care from  the Gynaec-oncologist at Sammprada, Bangalore.

Is Cervical Cancer Vaccine necessary to take in Singapore?
The decision to get or not receive the cervical cancer vaccination should be made with caution. The cervical cancer vaccine, often known as the HPV vaccination, prevents and protects against the human papillomavirus (HPV), a kind of virus spread via sexual contact. HPV is the top leading cause of cervical cancer and can also lead to vulvar, genital, anal, and oropharyngeal cancers.
Why is Cervical Cancer Vaccine Important?
Genital HPV is a virus that spreads from person to person during sexual activity through direct skin-to-skin contact. Most sexually active persons will get the HPV virus at some point in their life, though the majority will be unaware of it. Infection with HPV is most frequent in persons in their late teens and early twenties. There are over 40 different strains of HPV that may infect both men's and women's genital regions. The majority of HPV types produce no symptoms and disappear on their own. However, some types can cause cervical cancer in women as well as other less prevalent diseases such as anus, vagina, penis and oropharynx cancer.
Tumblr media
Other forms of HPV can produce warts in men's and women's genital regions, known as genital warts. Genital warts are not dangerous. However, they can create emotional tension, and their treatment can be quite unpleasant.
What Is The Right Age To Get Vaccine?
The Cervical Cancer Vaccine Singapore is recommended for females aged 11 and 12. It is also advised for girls and women aged 13 to 26 who have not yet been vaccinated or have not finished the vaccination series; the HPV vaccine can also be administered to females as young as 9 years old. The CDC advises that children aged 11 to 12 receive two doses of HPV vaccination to protect against HPV-related cancers.
Can Pregnant Women Get the Vaccine?
Pregnant women should avoid getting the vaccine. More study is required to determine whether the HPV vaccination causes complications for babies born to mothers who were vaccinated while pregnant. A pregnant woman should not receive any HPV vaccine doses until her pregnancy is over.
Getting the HPV vaccination while pregnant is no reason to terminate a pregnancy. If a woman discovers she had one or more cervical cancer vaccination doses while pregnant, she should do two things:
●     Finish any leftover HPV vaccination doses following her pregnancy.
●     Call the pregnancy registry.
What is the Effectiveness Of the Cervical Cancer Vaccine?
Tumblr media
The HPV vaccination targets the HPV strains most often associated with cervical cancer, as well as cancers of the anus, vagina, and oropharynx. The vaccine also protects against HPV strains that are responsible for the majority of genital warts. The HPV vaccination is extremely efficient in preventing both the targeted HPV varieties and the most frequent health issues caused by them.
In young women who have previously been exposed to one or more HPV varieties, the vaccination is less effective in preventing HPV-related diseases. This is due to the fact that the vaccination protects against HPV before a person is exposed to it. The HPV vaccination does not cure existing HPV infections or diseases caused by HPV.
What Are the Side Effects of Vaccination?
Mild side effects of the cervical cancer vaccination include pain and redness at the injection site, tiredness, dizziness, headaches, nausea, and vomiting. Staying seated for around 15 minutes after receiving the vaccination may help you prevent some of these complications. There are no major adverse effects connected with the cervical cancer vaccination at this time.
How Long Does The Vaccine Last?
Tumblr media
Since there are various vaccinations available, the length of the periods might vary. However, in general, cervical cancer vaccination can give protection for up to ten years. While receiving the vaccination reduces your chance of cervical, vaginal, and vulvar cancer, it is still necessary to see your gynecologist for routine gynecological examinations and preventative treatment as needed.
Vaccination and screening can both significantly reduce the incidence of cervical cancer. We advise women to have regular screenings in order to detect cervical cancer signs early and treat them in order to live a full life. Cross Street has a highly skilled and knowledgeable staff of doctors. Make an appointment with Cross Street Medical to get the correct cervical cancer screening and vaccination.

There's a lecture today about cervical cancer screening and the HPV vaccine. I recall when they lectured on it in school that they changed the guidelines to include people up to age 45. But by then most people would have been exposed. This is what the CDC says:
Vaccine Recommendations
HPV vaccine is recommended for routine vaccination at age 11 or 12 years. (Vaccination can be started at age 9.)
ACIP also recommends vaccination for everyone through age 26 years if not adequately vaccinated previously. HPV vaccination is given as a series of either two or three doses, depending on age at initial vaccination.
Vaccination is not recommended for everyone older than age 26 years. However, some adults ages 27 through 45 years may decide to get the HPV vaccine based on discussion with their clinician, if they did not get adequately vaccinated when they were younger. HPV vaccination of people in this age range provides less benefit, for several reasons, including that more people in this age range have already been exposed to HPV.
For adults ages 27 through 45 years, clinicians can consider discussing HPV vaccination with people who are most likely to benefit. HPV vaccination does not need to be discussed with most  adults over age 26 years. See ACIP’s shared clinical decision-making FAQs.
Keep in mind that HPV vaccination prevents new HPV infections but does not treat existing HPV infections or diseases. HPV vaccine works best when given before any exposure to HPV.
Most sexually active adults have already been exposed to HPV, although not necessarily all of the HPV types targeted by vaccination. At any age, having a new sex partner is a risk factor for getting a new HPV infection. People who are in a long-term, mutually monogamous relationship are not likely to get a new HPV infection.
Also, I remember learning that you don't start screening until age 21, regardless of first sexual encounter. So even if you have a 14 year old who is sexually active, you don't start pap tests until she's 21 and that's because most young people clear the virus. The pap test is just cytology--looking at the cervical cells. At age 30, you also start checking for the virus. You can do pap every 3 years, pap & HPV testing every 5 years, or HPV testing (co-testing) every 5 years. I have to check that again to make sure I got it right. But anyway you can stop screening at age 65 depending on the pt. Also, pts who are high risk like men who have sex with men should get an anal pap test because HPV can also cause anal cancer.

@terflies
You’ve been all over my posts so I’m just going to consolidate into this one. I’m tired of scrolling past your long and quite frankly boring responses. This post will be divided into sections. If you’re going to respond please say something interesting. However I doubt either of us will ever change the other’s mind. These are kind of like closing statements and I doubt I’ll make anymore major responses because I’m trying to stay focused on offline things.
1. Unanswered Questions
There are some questions and statements in my reblogs that you conveniently ignored.
Definition of a woman? You responded with some generic bs that very clearly isn’t an answer. I’ll be more specific, what should the dictionary definition be? Any ideas?
If I don’t feel like a woman am I allowed to identify as one? You said you weren’t going to humour this question but it is applicable to me and many other gc women. I definitely don’t have any internal feeling of womanhood, or any gender. Does this mean I have to be agender? Is the female gender label restricted to a certain feeling? Or is there absolutely nothing that women have in common?
What is the feeling of womanhood? You kind of answered this but I have a follow up question. You say the feeling of womanhood is enjoying being perceived as a woman. If I feel indifferent to this does it mean I’m not a woman? Additionally, many women feel uncomfortable with being perceived as a woman because of the misogyny associated with the label, does this make them men?
2. Inaccurate Statements and Lies
I don’t believe any “TRAs” define women by gender roles
You may not but there are many who do. It’s also important to point out how deeply ingrained gender roles are in society; you can’t stop them by just saying your choices exist in a vacuum. I’m sure you think I’m just making this up for fun, so here are some examples ;)  x - x - x - x - x - x - x - x - x - x - x - x - x - x - x - x
So this whole…thing is dishonest from the start. Gender does not replace sex.
In another post you said that laws should be based on gender instead of sex. So which is it, either gender isn’t replacing sex or it is. When feminists talk about sex based oppression they’re called terfs. When gay people say their attraction is based on sex they’re called transphobic. When people were saying that only females get cervical cancer, they were called violent transphobes. Gender is absolutely attempting to replace sex as the basis of legal protections, safe spaces, political movements, etc. Two of the top post on my blog are more extreme example of this. x - x
BONUS: You’re saying TERF rhetoric
3. The “Questions” Post
You seem very confused about how to define biological sex and to some extent I understand that but you have to stop playing dumb. There must be some way that doctors are able to identify the sex of a fetus before it’s even born in the vast majority of cases, right? And before you try to say I’m just ignoring the existence of intersex people or trying to deny science, I’ll point out that I have watched and read a lot of “sex is a spectrum” stuff. I understand that DSDs exist and that biology is complicated. Our disagreement is mostly not over the facts but over how to define them. I know that however I explain it you’ll pretend you don’t understand it, so instead I’ll just link you to some other sources that explain it more in depth. x - x - x - x - x - x - x - x - x
A third sex—and many creatures have more than two—does not necessarily mean a third gamete. Mostly this question is a childish distraction, but if you were to use a strict, gamete-based definition of sex the answer would be “none”.
So all infertile people are a third sex? To be female you have to be able to bear children? And you call me regressive, yikes. This can be debunked with the same sources from above but I wanted to feature it in my post because I want people to know that you think there’s a third sex.
Tumblr media
I made a quick little chart to compare all the things gender has been compared to! The difference is that while many are socially defined, gender is socially constructed. If someone never interacted with other humans, they would still have a skin color, have or not have specific abilities, have a sexual orientation, and be male or female. They would not have an observable gender identity.
1 - You refuse to humor my questions about being a woman who doesn’t feel like one, however this is not in bad faith; I do want to know what you think. Many gc/radfems, including myself, and many women in general do not have a specific feeling of gender. This is especially true for gnc women, who often feel a disconnect from the feminine gender role and subsequently, the feminine gender. The solution is to realize that there are no standards to conform to to be a woman, no clothes or interests or feelings, just the biological reality one is born with.
2 - You say “the feeling of womanhood is enjoying being called a woman” but what does that mean? It’s circular reasoning, a fallacy called begging the question. How do you know you are a woman? If I gave up being a terf on tumblr, how would you advise that I identify if I don’t think I feel like a woman? My current plan was to just pick the mogai flag with the prettiest colors, but I’m thinking maybe there’s more to it than that...
3 - See my explanation above. Sex is comparable to race or disability or sexuality; gender is not.
4 - You say genders are social classes. If they are indeed social classes, they are unnecessary ones that reinforce oppression. They are undefinable when not based on biological sex or gender roles. The other example of classes I can think of is wealth. Wealth classes have obvious divisions, you can’t just identify into more money. Gender has nothing that is shared by every woman, man, or nonbinary, so you can just identify in and out of classes. Additionally, if there are like 100 genders, are there 100 classes?
4. The “Biological” Sex Post
Gender does not replace sex
Then why are TRAs trying to say sexuality, legal protections, bathrooms, spaces, political movements, etc should be based on gender instead of sex? You keep contradicting yourself; you should talk to your fellow trans activists because many would disagree. Also see my response in part two.
A number of points here aren’t factually wrong but simple (*simply) irrelevant
So you would agree that biological sex is important and that it is relevant to many conversations? Then why were people getting mad about this?
Tumblr media
Or this?
Tumblr media
On to the specific examples. This post is long enough already and I’m not going to spoon feed basic biology to you because you’ll probably just ignore it. I referenced a variety of sources earlier. I’ll just reference Invisible Women since it’s an amazing book.
1. This first point is, appropriately enough, true in isolation; it just doesn’t support Paradox Institute’s argument. Listing it leads the audience to believe that truth is on their side, but PI do nothing at all to justify that.
So nothing here is true? They’re just lying? Here are their sources btw.
2. Generally irrelevant, but not entirely biologically accurate, either. It isn’t that ‘male’ and ‘female’ are categories intrinsic to nature that produce small, motile and large, immotile gametes respectively; ‘male’ and ‘female’ are labels we assign (generally, but not always) according to gamete size.
So it’s not relevant that one sex has the ability to carry children or menstruation or get an abortion? It’s not like there’s any issues women face specifically for that, right? So we assign the labels male and female to gametes. If you want to play semantics, sure, we created the words, but the gametes themselves already existed. Not really sure what you’re trying to say here other than disagreeing for the sake of disagreeing and moving some words around. Are you implying that the categorizations of gametes are subjective? Are you saying there’s a spectrum of gametes?? Are eggs just big sperm and sperm just small eggs??? Genuinely have no idea what the fuck you’re trying to prove here.
3. Whatever your opinion of evolutionary psychology, this does not preclude gender. (On the contrary, we ought to include gender in our understanding of cultural development with respect to sex.)
The only gender in history was gender roles, and both were tied to sex in most cases. Sex absolutely came before gender and is more integral to our existence. In any time before the last few decades, gender and sex were basically synonyms.
4. Entirely a straw argument. And, to the contrary, precision greater than two sex categories would be beneficial (i.e. specific sex characteristics, history, endocrinology etc.).
Obviously doctors don’t just diagnose based on sex, they factor in medical history and other traits. Precision is irrelevant because it still focuses on sex not gender. If it’s “entirely a straw argument” why did someone else reblog your response with this?
Speaking as a member of a medical family, the medical one fucking OFFENDS me.
Blood type HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH GENDER. Or biological sex! Both are totally irrelevant! And medication dosage is determined by AGE and SIZE. A 25-year-old 160-pound person with a penis needs the exact same dose as a 25-year-old 160-pound person with a vagina. In fact, possibly LESS of a dose, if the person with a penis is 5’10” and the person with a vagina is 5’5”. (The taller person may be underweight.)
This is just. UGH. I could scream.
@prismatic-bell this is one of the funniest and dumbest replies I’ve ever gotten. First of all “member of a medical family” tf is that lmao. This reminds me of that post where the “medical worker” tra turned out to be a garbage collector guy. I have no idea why you brought up blood type when it is literally never mentioned in the original post. Strawman much? Fucking obviously blood type isn’t affected by sex, and you’re completely missing the point if you think gender has anything to do with this. Medication dosage is decided by age and size, yes, but also biological sex. This is like basic medical science, dumbass. Mandatory reading from Invisible Women as punishment for your stupidity crimes:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
People called her a terf for this :)
5. How sports are best divided is a far broader question than this point implies. We could, for example, segregate sports by relevant physical attributes (as is already the case in some sports) rather than by sex or gender. This point also presupposes (but does not justify) that a woman having an advantage in women’s sports by dint of being trans is significantly greater than an advantage any woman might have by dint of her natural attributes (which, empirically, she does not) and hence would be unfair. That said, enforcement of “female” sports is already marred by racism and perisexism.
You agree sex and gender are different, yes? So then why should males be in female sports? You’re trying to distract me with that stuff about physical performance and whatever. Focus on the question at hand, should males be allowed into female sports? We cannot eradicate sex-segregated sports because female athletes will be even more systematically disadvantaged. If you were truly a feminist you’d understand that female sports are the result of the movement you claim to support. 6. Simply untrue. Excluding trans women from statistics about women on the basis that doing so would affect those statistics is arbitrary at best. Those statistics may change, but that does not mean they are unsuitable or inappropriate. The exclusion of any subset of women can be justified in exactly the same way.
Nope! Stop trying to use women of color and intersex women as justifications for why we should let men pretend to be women. You’ve seen the hundreds of receipts of trans women committing all sorts of male violence. Has anyone found anywhere near a comparable number of trans men doing similar things? They have not, even though if trans men were truly men they would be much more violent.
7. The majority of single-sex spaces are, functionally, just as much single-gender (owing to the traditional equivalence of ‘sex’ and ‘gender’ and to the majority of the population being cis. Trans people have been using spaces appropriate to their gender for decades, whereas concerns about them doing so are based on speculation and hypotheticals rather than fact. (Aided, as with a lot of bigotry, by bad and manipulated statistics.)
I’ve spoken about my opinions on the bathroom debate before. If a passing trans person uses the bathroom of their choice I don’t really care, but there have already been many examples of men making women uncomfortable in their bathrooms, or worse. Making all bathrooms gender neutral is by far the worst idea, but unfortunately that seems to be where we’re headed. More Invisible Women, just for fun:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
8. This is the worst red herring, exploiting violent misogyny for the sake of argument. It is another straw argument, too, since—even ignoring trans-positive feminism in practice and assuming trans people act only in self-interest—trans people are concerned with addressing such injustice.
Sure, many trans people are supportive of feminism. But we can’t effectively dismantle the patriarchy if we can’t accurately describe the (sex-based) oppression involved. Women are routinely silenced when talking about our biology, even when there is no “transphobic” language involved. “Trans-positive feminism” also often reinforces misogyny by supporting sex work and porn, and by shutting down analysis of things like femininity and makeup because “some women like it.” See also from trans activists: misogyny racism homophobia + lesbophobia
9. Similar to (7) there is no consistent distinction between sex and gender across law. Even so, this is another red herring as it is possible to recognise both sex and gender in laws and policies. Some laws already do (at least functionally, if not explicitly).
You can deny it but the TRA train is leaving without you and they’ve been clear about their goals. As you’ve seen in this post, gender is intended to replace sex. Those who bring up sex-based issues are silenced as “terfs” who deserve the hatred thrown at them.
Sorry for making such a long post but I was on a roll so I just kept writing. I don’t expect @terflies to respond to all of this but I wanted an excuse to make some sort of masterpost that links to a lot of my other posts and can be used in the future. Online school is going pretty well and I’m trying to start some doing some hobbies that are better than tumblr blogging.

Our Round the Clock Food Supplement: C24/7 Natura-Ceuticals All Natural Food Supplement
How Modern Medicine Really Work
We were raised believing that if we are sick; take a medicine and the sickness will be cured. What we don’t know is that 99% of the time, prescribed medicines only control the symptoms and do not cure the root cause of the sickness. For this reason, medicines provide temporary relief, comfort, and extend life only but never cure the cause of the sickness. For example, medicines prescribed for treatment of high blood pressure have to be taken continuously. Patients have to live under this medication (maintenance) and may suffer quality of life. Also, medicines have tremendous side effects giving rise to other health problems.
Good news is that we have “natural medicine” in our body - our immune system. To cure and prevent diseases, we should strengthen our immune system - fruits and vegetable contains very high phytonutrients/plant-based nutrients. These phytonutrients are essential for strengthening the immune system which will lead to a healthier, stronger, and sick free body. However our daily consumption of fruits and vegetables doesn’t even reach 0.1% of total of the plant foods available! Laxogenin Review
Tumblr media
Laxogenin is a naturally occurring compound that is found in plants. It's a member of the brassinosteroids family of plant hormones, which have a similar structure to animal steroid hormones.Brassinosteroids help plants develop by stimulating cell division.5a-Hydroxy-Laxogenin can be found in varying amounts in the seeds, leaves, and pollen of a variety of plants and foods.
The terms ‘5a-Hydroxy-Laxogenin' and ‘Laxogenin,' contrary to common opinion, are not interchangeable.Despite the fact that they are chemically somewhat similar, their names are the same, and they are both found in the same plant family.According to some studies, 5a-Hydroxy-Laxogenin is the compound responsible for the properties associated with "Laxogenin Supplements."Although we don't have definitive evidence, we recommend searching for a supplement that specifically lists 5a-Hydroxy-Laxogenin on the nutritional panel.
 What is laxogenin, exactly?
Laxogenin, also known as 5 alpha hydroxy Laxogenin or 5a hydroxy Laxogenin, is a plant compound that is the most well-known member of the brassinosteroids family, which includes mustard and other plants.Laxogenin is a plant steroid that resembles the more well-known plant isolate ecdysterone in structure.
It has anabolic properties similar to anabolic steroids like Anavar, one of the most well-known oral anabolic steroids ever, according to studies.
Is it a prohormone if this is the case?
The short answer is no.Prohormones function by supplying a product to the body that is identical to testosterone.Your body senses a rise in androgen levels (the general term for prohormones and testosterone) and changes its own testosterone production when you take a prohormone.Unlike prohormones, laxogenin has no effect on the body's endocrine system.
As the day continues, it does not raise or decrease manufactured mixtures such as testosterone and estrogen.
So, how does Laxogenin function these days?
Laxogenin research was normally coordinated in the former Soviet Union.Because of its position as a brassinosteroid, its exact effect cannot be determined, however studies to date suggest that it specifically constructs protein mix while minimizing protein breakdown.
This seems to be a common theme in the entire class of brassinosteroids, or at least those that have been thoroughly studied.Laxogenin is also known to aid muscle recovery and growth by inhibiting the production of synthetic cortisol, a stress hormone.
Abnormally high cortisol levels can make gaining muscle and strength virtually impossible.
  REVIEW OF LAXOGENIN'S DIFFERENT APPLICATIONS
There is no clinical evidence that laxogenin is effective for any of the conditions mentioned in this article. After that, there's a summary of force tests on animals and cells, which could help with future research.Regardless, the following assessments should not be interpreted in a manner that promotes prosperity.
  1.Cervical cancer
Is the most common form of cancer in women. In the lungs of mice, laxogenin blocked the improvement of cell breakdown. In two tests, standard and established Laxogenin subordinates performed leukemia and colon sickness cells.
Other produced and widely used brassinosteroids have butchered and delayed tumor growth in cell mulls, killing prostate cancer-causing cells.
 2.Sugar derived from human blood
Glucose levels, liver sugar intake, and insulin resistance have all been decreased by a plant brassinoid (homo-brassinolide).In cells, two mixtures that produce protein and fat sugar were prevented from forming.
3. Tissue Damage
A cell sample has thwarted free radials tissue and the defenseless supply of oxygen from a trademark laxogenin auxiliary. This suggests that laxogenin can act as an oxidative pressor, and that the benefits of laxogenin for muscle recovery are addressed.Animal and human assessments are crucial at the very least.
Laxogenin and related combinations have been shown in animal and cell studies to fight infection, degrade glucose, and prevent tissue damage caused by oxidative pressing factor.
Regardless, human experiments have a significant flaw.
  Provisos and Limitations
Other potential laxogenin applications, such as muscle building, have been studied in animals and cells. To assess the feasibility and manifestations of laxogenin things, clinical primers are needed.
Furthermore, neither the compound nor any of the upgrades are included in the evaluations: 5a-hydroxy laxogenin.Laxogenin, natural and synthetic auxiliaries, and relative combinations were tested after taking all of this into account.
Supplement manufacturers occasionally alluded to an old (1976) theory that had yet to be deciphered in Russian.Human tests have only used laxogenin, and none of them have used 5a-hydroxy Laxogenin, which is found in some upgrades.
Regardless, 5a-hydroxy Laxogenin is the single compound that has the highest suitability for fit muscle progression, according to our clinical starters.
  Final Thoughts
In animal studies, laxogenin was found to be effective. In either event, no experiments to determine its human protection have been conducted.
Heavy oral doses (>200 mg per day) cause headaches, according to customers.
While laxogenin had been confirmed in animals, there were no human safety tests to back it up.
Customers who consume large amounts of oral segments simply document their mental anguish.
  LAXOGENIN DOSAGE AND SUPPLEMENTS
  Scale of the portion
As a result of the lack of estimation data in clinical examinations, developers and consumers have made haphazard segment recommendations that are subject to trial and error.
100 mg per day is normally the approved portion for the 4-multi week time periods, followed by a month off-cycle.According to a few customers, cycling isn't required. The majority of customers can conveniently combine laxogenin with a variety of materials.
During their off-measure lengths, some people use PCT, while others promote muscle development.
Customers and suppliers were instructed to take 100mg to 200mg of laxogenin every day for four to twelve weeks.
 Take-out food
Laxogenin is a well-known steroid that can be present in a wide variety of plant species.5a-hydroxy laxogenin and unscreened poisons are two examples of its engineered subordinates.Laxogenin is thought to promote muscle development and fat burning without actually doing so.
In any case, it has yet to be tried in animal clinical trials.Lacogenin, when used correctly, can aid muscle development, well-being, and regeneration. It is possible to reduce glucose levels and avoid damage.
Laxogenin is praised by customers for its respectable muscle gains and protection. In the upper reaches of cerebral suffering, a smattering of whimpers can be heard.

Improving Health by Increasing Access to Vaccines
Team Oral Health’s ultimate goal in working with the North Carolina Oral Health Collaborative (NCOHC) is to create a change in policy to include dentists in the list of providers able to administer the human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine series, seasonal influenza (flu) vaccine, and pandemic related vaccines, such as COVID-19, once a vaccine is approved.
Three states, Oregon, Illinois, and Minnesota, currently have a policy that allows dentists to administer vaccines. Oregon is, however, the only state to allow both HPV and flu vaccines to be administered by a dentist and at any age where the vaccine is recommended. Minnesota and Illinois only allow dental administration of the flu vaccine and only to adults, with the starting ages of nineteen and eighteen respectively.
Rural residents are thirty percent less likely to have completed the three dose HPV vaccine series than their urban counterparts. With creating another avenue for access within this community, vaccination rates could be improved. It is important that we improve the vaccination rates because the HPV-related disease prevalence is also higher in rural communities. Thirteen rural counties in North Carolina had cervical cancer rates up to 12.4 per 100,000 women, which was much higher compared to the state’s rate of 7.9 per 100,000 women (Cates et al., 2011). HPV is associated with approximately eighty percent of cervical cancers and seventy percent of oropharyngeal cancers.
HPV is the most common sexually transmitted infection and is most prevalent in the late teens and early twenties (Hahn, 2018). About seventy-nine million Americans are currently infected and about fourteen million become newly infected each year (Hahn, 2018). Increasing the vaccination rate will reduce the number of cases overall.
Australia and England are countries that have adopted the school-based vaccination program and have seen dramatic declines in HPV-associated health outcomes and reached high HPV vaccination completion rates (Hansen et al., 2017).These school-based programs increased access to the vaccination and they saw results of completion of the series and better health outcomes. Our policy change would also increase access and hopefully yield the same results.
Our preceptors had us research the legislative process as well as the dental and dental-hygienists practice acts for North Carolina. The first step in our policy timeline was learning about power mapping. In power mapping you list out the stakeholders and then create a grid that measures where they are in terms of influence and anticipated agreement. This helps to identify who needs to be targeted to make your position a success whether it is for or against a policy. It also makes clear who is most likely to be opposed to your position. In our case, we believe that collaborating with the medical director could be vital to reaching the North Carolina Dental Society which will have the most influence for moving this policy. We also identified the anti-vax community as the group who will be the most opposed to our policy.
The next step was the advocacy training we received from our precepting organization, NCOHC, regarding policy, advocacy, and lobbying. Policies are governmental laws and regulations implemented to accomplish something specific. There are three types of policy, restrictive, regulatory, and facilitative. Restrictive policies are designed to stop someone from doing something. Regulatory policies are put in place to regulate a certain activity. Facilitative policies are protocols to implement, monitor, and enforce both restrictive and regulatory policies.
We learned that advocacy is defined as generating support for a cause or policy by educating and informing targeted groups. There are five steps to advocating for a cause or policy. These are identifying the issue, developing a solution or plan of action, engaging advocates and developing a coalition, designing the message, and meeting with decision and policy-makers.
Lobbying on the other hand is legally influencing politicians or public officials to get them to support or oppose a cause or policy. There are two types of lobbying, direct or grassroots. Direct lobbying is communicating with a politician or public official to try to influence new or existing legislation. Grassroots lobbying is rallying the general public to contact their legislators.
After gaining insight into what goes into generating a successful policy, it was our turn to try our hand in crafting a policy. We used our research throughout the semester to put together the purpose and background portion of the policy proposal. Alexis and I then compared the policy provisions Oregon, Illinois, and Minnesota used to frame our policy provisions. We carefully tried to construct these to leave no room for interpretation since that was one mistake in Minnesota’s policy.
We met with the NCOHC’s lobbyist, Ben Popkin, and he gave us feedback on our draft. Then he moderated a mock legislative session so that we could see what the final steps would look like in creating policy to improve health in diverse populations. As a future pharmacist, disease prevention, especially through vaccination, is an issue that is extremely important to me. This session showed me what is involved to bring about policy or policy change, which I know will continue to be relevant throughout my career.
Competency F14: “Advocate for political, social or economic policies and programs that will improve health in diverse populations.”

Macro-post #2
The biggest part of our practicum is to advocate for policy change in North Carolina to expand the scope of dentists. This coincides with team oral health competency F14 which states, “Advocate for political, social or economic policies and programs that will improve health in diverse populations”. Our goal is to create a change in policy that will allow dentists to give vaccines, in particular HPV vaccines.
Currently, only three states allow dentists to give vaccines; however, the limitations for each state differs. Oregon is the most progressive state. In 2019 Oregon was successful in getting a policy passed that allows dentists to administer any vaccine to a person of any age. Illinois and Minnesota are more similar in the sense that they only allow dentists to administer flu vaccines to adults. The slight difference is Illinois dentists are only allowed to give vaccines to people 18 years or older, whereas in Minnesota patients must be 19 years of age or older. There are many benefits of allowing dentists to administer vaccines.
Allowing dentists to give vaccines could help bridge gaps regarding access to care. You may be wondering how can dentists play a significant role in increasing access to care. If people aren’t even going to their primary care providers, why would they go to a dentist? In fact, I had this exact thought at the beginning of our practicum and with all of my outspokenness actually asked my preceptor *facepalm*. Over the course of this practicum experience, I have done a lot of research and found data that answers that question. Studies have shown that in 2017 more than 31.1 million people sought services from a dentist but not a physician, which is approximately 9% of the population. This could have a significant impact on vaccination rates, which is arguably the most important benefit.
Vaccination rates have continuously decreased over the past decade. Research showed that there was a significant decrease in vaccinations among school-aged children between 2009-2018. A  consequence of the decrease in vaccinations was the major measles outbreaks, a disease that was essentially eradicated. In 2017 there was a measle outbreak in Minnesota that resulted in 44 cases, and in 2019 there was an outbreak in Washington resulting in 87 cases. These outbreaks resulted in the highest number of measles cases in 3 decades. This policy change could also help prevent the transmission of the flu and potentially eradicate certain other infectious diseases, such as COVID-19. During times of national emergencies pertaining to infectious diseases in the past, many states made it mandatory for all healthcare providers (including dentists) to administer vaccines. If a dentist is going to be required to administer a vaccine during a national emergency then it would be wise to make it a normal part of their practice so they are not administering vaccines for the first time during a crisis. It is evident that there are many benefits to allowing dentists to give vaccines. However, many people have concerns about insurance, competency, and immunization schedules.
Currently, dental insurance doesn’t cover vaccinations. However, that doesn’t mean that dental insurance plans can’t expand in the future, but it is important that we have the necessary support before this is an option. The competence of dentists to administer vaccines is another frequent concern. I think this is largely due to the fact that many people are unaware of the training that dentists undergo as well as the tasks they routinely perform as a normal part of their job. Dentists attend medical school with physicians for the first few years of their education, so they learn the same things about medications and adverse reactions. Additionally, you may be surprised to find out that dentists give vaccines more frequently than their medical counterparts and arguably in more difficult areas. The mouth is a very difficult area to inject. If the dentist can inject regions of the mouth why can’t they give a shot in a person’s arm? Also, many people and physicians have concerns that allowing dentists to administer vaccines will interrupt the schedule of other immunizations such as polio, MMR, etc. This is a reasonable concern, but it is likely that people wouldn’t get the majority of their shots at a dentist anyway. Also, many dentists don’t want to interfere with basic immunizations that babies and children receive on a schedule. This is why we plan to limit the vaccinations dentists are allowed to give in our policy proposal.
Additionally, this change in policy could create a sense of convenience making it easier to stay healthy. Typically dental cleanings are scheduled every 6 months, which happens to work well with the HPV vaccine schedule. There are 3 doses of the HPV vaccine, which should be scheduled at 0, 2, and 6 months. If a person went to a dentist for cleanings and their primary care provider for HPV vaccines, then they would have a total of 5 visits. However, if a person went to a dentist for cleanings and HPV vaccines then they would only need 3 visits, and two out of three of the visits would be a “2-in-1” service. This could also help people save money since they would have fewer medical visits.
HPV is an important issue in the United States. Approximately 79 million Americans are infected with Human Papillomavirus (HPV), which is the most common sexually transmitted infection (STI). HPV infection can result in a number of negative health outcomes as it is highly associated with genital warts, cervical cancer, and oropharyngeal cancer. Approximately 70% of all oropharyngeal cancers are linked to HPV. As previously stated, cervical cancer is also another significant implication of HPV. However, Australia has nearly eradicated the threat of cervical cancer by mass HPV vaccinations. Since evidence has shown that cervical cancer can be decreased significantly, it would negligent not to do more to increase the accessibility and awareness of HPV vaccines.
The first 6-7 weeks of our practicum was spent doing independent research, but now we are starting to work together on our advocacy campaign. This pertains to team oral health competency F16 which states, “Apply principles of leadership, governance, and management, which include creating a vision, empowering others, fostering collaboration and guiding decision making”. We just started brainstorming ideas that we can use for our advocacy campaign which included social media polls, flyers, and infographic FAQs. We are currently in the drafting stage of this process. Hopefully, I can give an update of our official advocacy campaign materials by the next macro-post.

Medicidally, #berberine is used for: * Heart failure * High #cholesterol levels * High blood pressure * Polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) * Diarrhea * #Hepatitis * Nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) * Menopausal symptoms * #Obesity * Metabolic syndrome and treating high blood #sugar * Osteoporosis Berberine has tested safe at relatively high levels of two grams for up to eight weeks in human studies though a common dose is 200mg four times daily. It will generally be prescribed to treat a specific condition and isn’t a compound you would take long-term, daily, like some other supplements. Side-effects could include gastrointestinal discomfort like gas and constipation, or lowered blood pressure or blood sugar. It is not safe during pregnancy as it has the potential to cause uterine contractions. Berberine has been shown to be effective at lowering blood sugar in people with diabetes. This is likely also why it is effective for those with metabolic syndrome and PCOS and also supports lowering high cholesterol and even may help treat obesity. Because of its powerful antibacterial properties, it has been shown to effectively treat diarrhea and intestinal parasites. Aside from acting against bacteria, fungus, and viruses, berberine also works system-wide as an anti-inflammatory, calming irritation in the body. At the same time, it stokes the immune system, warding off pathogens and illness. Excitingly, there are studies about berberine’s #anticancer effects. Lab research has shown that berberine reduces the proliferation of leukemia, myeloma, oral, esophageal, prostate, gastric and cervical cancers. It also has shown promise for stopping the spread of cancer in the body. More research is needed in this area but there may be some uses in this area in the future.
