So I can't get this out of my head so is Jeremiah cold blooded or warm blooded I mean he's a groomda But they're like humans right I'm very confused .
Ty for asking anon! I am FULLY prepared to go into a lil ramble abt Jeremiah’s weird biology situation here. I mean, dude gets shot in the chest (based on the location, he should’ve been shot on the heart or at least a lung) but then…is able to move around fine. He goes on a dangerous mission, he fucking scales walls (p sure he does his when you enter Bryce’s room as weasel kid), etc. He doesn’t behave like someone who got shot in an organ, despite the fact that characters very much so can die from getting shot anywhere an organ is (like Jay or all the npcs in the gameworks base). More info under the cut. Tldr tho: Cold blooded, I just feel like going on a ramble about character creation, specifically Jeremiah’s
So yeah, I briefly mentioned this in my latest fic, but Jeremiah is notably cold as a corpse. He *is* alive, I should say that, he bleeds in canon and then in my fic gets flustered, but he’s still cold. I’d imagine Groondas ARE warm, they are living beings after all, Jeremiah’s just the big ol’ exception. Everything about how he works is weird. Basis for this hc is admittedly snatched from @/hrokall (p sure i reblogged the post), but still.
What makes Jeremiah different though is purely because of him being a glitch. We don’t know much about the actual creation itself, and even what we do know, just feels. Odd. Ignoring the contradictory stuff though (‘Lionel created a groonda’ vs Lionel saying Irving made the npcs), the way I see it is that a character becomes, well, a character once they have all their assets and coding and stuff. Stuff like animations, sprites, dialogue, all that fun stuff. Bare minimum npcs like Captain Barnay don’t have much in the way of personality or dialogue because they don’t need it, making them flat characters. Even Junior in SoL primarily repeats “Hi!” or “Hi…” the entire time. Playable characters have more assets + files, and are completely sentient and able to do as they please (save for Rust for non-self-aware reasons) due to feeling like legitimate people.
So, for whatever reason, maybe something to do with swk, Lionel was fucking around with the Groonda files, and just. Completely forgot to save the files. He was 12 at the oldest, can’t really blame him for being forgetful here. But because the Gameworks is, in the video game universe, a real life corporation with employees and bosses and the such, they had all these files that should be gone due to being unsaved, but they’ve got all that work done, so the assets and such essentially become corrupted. Hence Jeremiah’s creation. He’s essentially a huge fucking glitch in the system, and, well, unsaved files go missing, and the in-game version of missing files would likely be a ‘dead’ character. Essentially like a zombie or a ghost. Something that should be dead, but isn’t.
So basically the long story short of it all is that Jeremiah’s essentially an undead creature. He still has blood flow, but like I said before, he’s as cold as a corpse. One day I’ll properly get into how I see the needs and stuff of characters and how the amount of assets/files affects them, but. This is a Jeremiah centric post and I’m trying my best to keep it that way
