#supposedly it's ''making publishing accessible'' #but then you look at booktok books and its all the same 10 white american writers with no substance or nuance in their work #who are just good at marketing #the only books getting translated from english where i live are colleen hoover and stuff and i GET IT like i get it publishing houses need t #to eat #(?) #but how is our culture supposed to actually develop and thrive when only mediocre bestellers are translated and our own authors #literally cant be funded so all we get is shitty covers and bad formatting . and like. what use is social media if your book isnt in english #and likely won't be trasnlated in many other languages if you live in a small country with an unfunded underdeveloped publishing industry #like id LIKE to see that effect of tiktok discussed .
