dont mind me tripping and falling in here again. but i would also love to hear about botw au. legend of zelda au's my absolute beloved they have me running circles around my room. adrenaline shot straight to the heart nothing digs its claws in me quite like loz and i am so so interested to hear about it!! clingyduo doomed to save the world in every universe,,,, i'm invested already
thank you so much for humoring me, i love botw aus so much theyre aaaa!! aaAAAAAaaAaaAAa!!!!
so yeah this originally started bc an old friend of mine and i were talking and i forget who suggested it but we were like "hey wouldn't tommyinnit as link be so funny? because tommyinnit is like the exact opposite kind of feral-energy of botw link. loud and swears and uncontrollable and headstrong. hylia's most annoying hero." and things just devolved from there. it's fully a Crack Treated Seriously situation because i spent actual months working out lore n worldbuilding and whatnot fhdjskhfdk.
the fic is officially called Well, Excuuuuuuuse Me, Big Man: The BotW AU No One Asked For (or WEMBM for short)
basic layout (as far as i went with it anyway):
tommy more-or-less follows the order of what you're "supposed" to do to to beat the game: plateau->kakariko->hateno->kakariko again->four main regions->master sword->ganon. of course there are a lot of detours and back-tracking and skipping around for hyjinx
main regions/inhabitants are replaced: Zora->Axols (axolotl "hybrids"), Gorons->Piglins, Rito->Elytrians, Gerudo->Enderians
each of the above races have their own cultures that are loosely based off of the game's original counterparts and some mcrp fanon + personal headcanons thrown in. they're customized to incorporate some (mild) minecraft elements!!
old champions: Mipha->Niki, Daruk->Technoblade, Rivali->Philza, Urbosa->Ran (based loosely off of tftsmp Ran, effectively an oc lmao????)
new champions: Sidon->Foolish (Niki's younger brother) and Jack (Niki's best friend), Yunobo->Drista, Teba->Wilbur, Riju->Ranboo
all of their personalities more-or-less remain intact (which is why the fact that i put The Old Man / King Rhoam as Schlatt so fucking funny)
divine beasts keep their names but the creatures change!! Ruta is a glow squid, Rudania is a blaze, Medoh is still a bird (LMAO i might change this because...), Naboris is a phantom
some scattered details
wilbur is both the "new" champion role AND kass' role!! he and tommy meet early on in his journey (at his first visit to Hateno) but tommy doesn't learn about wilbur's heritage (Philza was his great great great grandfather) until MUCH later. they run into each other a lot during their travels.
wilbur also has a hardcore crush on an axol warrior named sally, which tommy teases and embarrasses him relentlessly for
tubbo (zelda-role) keeps zelda's arc of not being able to develop powers. the key difference is that tommy and tubbo are friends before the calamity business starts to get serious, and tubbo's frustration drives a wedge between them
(angst time: clingy duo has a Big Fight during that one sheikah slate Memory on the palace tower bridge, and they never get the chance to apologize to each other before it all goes to shit and tommy dies sacrificing himself to save tubbo.)
techno and phil are old friends from when they'd do colosseum fights together. they haven't talked much for a few years before becoming champions, both too busy with their respective duties at home, but the moment they realize they've both been recruited well, they're inseparable
windbombing, bullet-time bouncing, and shield clipping are canon. don't question it.
champion ran is a dick (think revali) and the only one there they respect is niki because they underestimated her and then she proceeded to floor them during a sparring session (and she didn't even threaten them with a water based attack, it was all skill)
awesamdude (most people call him "sam", he's ranboo's personal guard) has a half brother named awesamnook (most people call him "nook" or "samnook"). he's the Beedle-role and he talks in all caps like an npc ("HELLO TRAVELER." "Why are you shouting---" "HAVE A LOOK AT MY WARES." "Okay---")
bad runs the yiga-equivalent egg cult that, instead of disguising themselves as travelers, simply uses sprouts of blood-red flowers with a toxic pollen to mind-control bystanders into attacking tommy (yikes)
have some highlights from the few chapters i've written of tommy on the great plateau (yes, the entire google doc is written in comic sans)
tommy immediately sassing tubbo's disembodied voice:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
tommy is 7 feet from the cave and is shoving things in his mouth:
Tumblr media
(I should also mention he has a pet beetle in his pocket named Sir Legs)
tommy has a grudge against the sheikah pedestals, it's a whole arc on the plateau as he slowly comes to love and appreciate the pedestals and what they do for him:

old man J vs tommy's unwavering optimism(bullheadedness):

tommy vs disembodied voices:

Actual Headcanons
Sort of
Okay so
Who starts the conversation?
-Before the Calamity, Zelda. Link would make comments here and there but he wouldn’t talk unless asked something. After the Calamity, Link starts the conversation. Solely because he’s already adjusted to how everything is. He goes on and on about the new things and things he misses, his adventures while he was getting stronger so he can beat Ganon. Zelda listens to all his stories, having seen them all from afar while she was fighting Ganon, but loves hearing all the details.
Who wakes up first?
-For someone who fought Ganon for 100 years straight without a break, Zelda is always the first one up. Link’s sleep schedule was so out of whack before they defeated Ganon, and now that it’s reached some sort of stable schedule he sleeps until Zelda wakes him up. She usually goes to the Ancient Tech Lab to hang out with Purah at dawn, so she can catch up on all the progress they’ve made over the past 100 years. When she gets back around 10 ish she wakes Link up so they can had breakfast.
Who cooks?
-That’s the chef himself, Link. He loves cooking food almost as much as he loves eating it. He is teaching Zelda, who is fully aware that she lacks cooking skills because she never needed it. She’s getting better at it, sometimes she doesn’t burn the eggs. No matter what, the food they serve each other is also coupled with a kiss on the cheek.
Who says ‘I love you’ first?
-Lover Boy Link at your service. We know Zelda loves Link and he knows it too (not that she really knows a bird outed her feelings). But Link says it to her when she’s talking about possible solutions for the Divine Beast Vah Ruta. After spending the last few months going around Hyrule, meeting new people, remembering his past life, and going through the trials set in front of him all he could think about was saving her. Link knew he should be doing it to save Hyrule and that was part of his motivation, but the main drive for him was to get Zelda back. He refell in love with her during his journies, so when she was being the geek she is, it slipped.
How does the other react?
-Zelda sorta just stops and stares at him, because she’s known she’s loved him since she shielded him from the Guardian. But to hear that he loves her? She wants to cry on the spot because she’s so happy. Zelda gets all flustered and Link just sorta repeats it because even he’s surprised he said it and she just throws herself on him. Kisses and giggle ensue, because these two teenagers that have seen more than enough tragedy for their lifetime are in love with each other and together.
How do other characters react to the couple?
-The entirety of Hateno thought they were already engaged when they became official. Whoops.
-Impa has this knowing grin when the two of them go visit her for the first time since the confession. She knew that Zelda was in love Link 100 years ago, she’s just surprised it took him this long to figure it out for himself.
-They don’t tell Kass or anything when they go to Rito Village, but he tells Link in private that he doesn’t need a song to see how in love they are with each other. Link gets embarrassed but smiles and thanks him. Teba also makes a “is that your girlfriend?” Comment bc he doesn’t know what the princess from 100 years ago looks like. When Link says yes, he’s a bit surprised but proud anyway.
-Riju, my favorite companion, is estactic. She’s read Urbosa’s Diary and knows for a fact that there was something between Link and Zelda even if they didn’t know it. She’s also a tad off put bc she has this school girl crush on Link but she brushes it off because she’s never seen Link so carefree and happy as he is with Zelda around.
-Sidon, my lovely Zora, is a little surprised to say the least. He never really considered that Link had feelings for Zelda, just sort of focused on the fact that Mipha loved him enough to want Link to be her husband. But he’s happy for them anyway, and says to Link that Mipha would be happy he found someone he loves.
-Yunobo just sorta goes “oh, they’re together? That’s great!” And goes on with his life. Meanwhile, Daruk’s spirit is facepalming bc he saw all the signs and didn’t put two and two together. He really thought that one conversation was about food. Typical Hylians.
-If I’m gunna mention Daruk’s spirit I have to mention all of them.
-Urbosa is highfiving Zelda’s Mom because she got her wish for Zelda. She’s been on this team since Link first requested to meet with her. Those two were bound to be together, especially after all they’ve been through.
-Revali could care less, honestly. But he’s forced to listen to all the spirits talk about them and forces out a “Well I guess the two of them deserve each other” which was meant to be an insult but no one took it that way. He can never win, guys.
-Mipha is actually really happy. She’s had this feeling that Link was never really ever going to be truly hers. She saw how he saw past her, always looking for something else and how when he looked at Zelda, that’s all he saw. It’s why she never gave him the armor. So when she sees Link accept his feelings and let someone in, she’s beyond happy because Link deserves it. Zelda, too.
-Rhoam is just sorta going “well no one else is fit to be the king of Hyrule, so I guess Link is okay” when the Queen and Urbosa roll their eyes. He knows how much Zelda liked Link because she would have him hang out with her in the castle all the time.
Who proposes?
-Zelda is the first one to mention marriage. Since they’re in the process of rebuilding the castle and Hyrule Town, she will be the Queen once it’s completed. She’s already got royal stuff planned and all these projects started, but she brings up the point that if they get married, the ceremony would have to this whole thing since Hyrule has been without a royal family for a century. She’s sitting at the desk staring at pieces of parchment, when Link comes up behind her and places a hand on her back. Link then causally holds out a ring and tells her that they could get married tomorrow just for them.
Wedding?
- They go to Kapson in Terry Town the next day, with Purah, Impa, and Paya as their audience. They have this small ceremony with a dress Impa had saved from when the late Queen got married. Link had to go to Bolson of all people to get a tux of sorts, which ends up being a fancier version of the Royal Guards outfit bc Bolson is extra, even more so when he’s getting an outfit for the new King of Hyrule. He also joins the audience, but much more of a background character who throws flower petals at them.
-The ceremony for the kingdom doesn’t happen for another three years. They’re 23 by this time, the kingdom almost fully restored. With the castle finally back in order and Hyrule Town buzzing with merchants and residents, they decide to announce the news that they’re engaged. Yes, they’ve been married for three years at this point, but this is for the public more than them. Only close friends from the different races know, as well as most of Hateno Village (But they thought they were married a month after Zelda arrived). It’s this whole shebang with a new dress and classy tux. Impa walks Zelda down the aisle, telling her how happy her parents would be if they were here.
Do either of them want kids? One more than the other?
-Link is a SUCKER for kids. He loves them. He would have 50 kids of his own if he could. He doesn’t have many memories of his actual family, so it’s sort of a coping thing for him. Zelda wants children, but is more concerned that being in a different realm for 100 years would affect her ability to become pregnant. She’s also terrified that she’ll have a girl and have to name her Zelda per the family tradition (she doesn’t want any of her children to bear the responsibilities she did).
Do they have kids?
-Yes, they have two little girls. Neither are named Zelda. Instead they name them after story characters their parents used to read to them. (Tetra and Lana for me, but ya’ll can pick what you want)

Thoughts on The Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild
I haven't beaten Breath of the Wild yet, but I wanted to share my thoughts on it so far since I'm close to the end. It's been the first Zelda game I've ever played and I'm glad it was because it has been quite an experience. There are so many things I could praise in this wonderful game. -The scenery is just beautiful and there are so many great places to explore - Amazing selection of music (favorites are Sidon, Kass, and Mipha's themes) - The designs of each of the races are great and their personalities are even more so. A lot of them really make you feel like part of the family like the Gorons and some of the Zoras. - Definitely can be played over and over again (Divine Beasts can be fought in any order or not at all) - Fun side quests. My favorite being the Building of Tarrey Town. - Plot could have been better but still was nice and easy to follow. - Enemies are varied and not boring to kill. I also love that you can wear masks to blend in with them. The Lizalfos mask is my favorite. Problem: making Lynels stronger than Final Boss - Problem: Main bosses could have been more varied like dark shadows of Champions or ferocious monsters that look like mutated divine beast -Definitely not too easy of a game, some difficulty which is a breath of fresh air (I had trouble fighting Hinoxes, Talus', and Guardians at first, but I got the hang of it the more I practiced) -Some voice acting could have been better in some scenes like Zelda but for what it's worth, it's pretty good. -Problem: Why can't we pet dogs or Wolf Link with a button instead of unequipping your weapon and pressing Y (that's the method). And why can't Wolf Link follow me into towns, cities, and the water? It would have been cute to see him play with the friends I made. -Characters shine the best in this. Most of the time, characters are the most important thing to me in a game. Everything else can be crap or mediocre, but if a game can get me to feel and care about the characters, it's fine with me. ▪Zelda is wonderfully fleshed out being one of the first Zeldas to not already have the sealing power her ancestors had. Her constant struggle is very relatable and you just wish everything will be better for her. Fun fact: while the English version of the Despair memory made me feel sad, the Spanish version almost brought me to tears. ▪Link is an absolute joy to play as, from the varied outfit choices (Gerudo outfit and Stealth being my fave) to the adorable humming he does when cooking. Did I mention stuff looks really good to eat in this game? Hell they also give a reason why Link doesn't talk in this game. Like Zelda, he's under constant pressure and feels he can't show any emotion ▪Urbosa is so friggin' gorgeous. Not only is she beautiful but she is fierce and powerful, not being one to shy away from a challenge and always protecting her people. I also love her relationship with Zelda being almost like a second mother and comforting her when she couldn't access her power. Another thing I liked about her was how she encouraged Link and Zelda to get along. ▪Riju is super sassy but very caring to her people as well. She also doesn't care that you're a guy when you help her out with Naboris. And her love of sand seals is cute. ▪Daruk is a super jolly dude and he'd be that really fun uncle who gives bear hugs. I also like that he's the unofficial leader of the Champions by being the first to call them into battle and give the game plan. ▪Yunobo is a sweet cinnamon roll who just wants to help even though he's scared. Bless his big heart. Never have my motherly instincts kicked in so hard for this kind-hearted boy. ▪Revali is one of those characters you start out hating but later on grow to love. Yes he is cocky and a bit of a show-off but in a way it's kind of charming and cute. Like you wanna catch him off guard and make him puff up in embarrassment or something. ▪Teba and his family are an absolute treat. You think he's the kind of lone wolf character, but no. He cares about his wife and son (who is one of the cutest characters ever) and even lets you interact with them as if you were part of the family. And the fact that he was willing to act as a decoy for Medoh while you shot the cannons speaks volumes about him. ▪Kass is a real pretty character and some of his quests are really fun/infuriating. My favorite one was the very first one I did with the Crowned Beast. While it stunk trying to sneak up on a deer buck, it was fun getting the hang of it. His music was also nice to listen to and I love his daughters (such cuties, especially the one who squeaked when she fell) ▪Mipha, oh my gosh, Mipha. I never thought I would fall in love with character as much as I did with her. Her voice is so sweet and comforting, I wanna hug her. She definitely deserved better in this, considering all she wanted was to marry Link once Ganon was dealt with. Not only was she beautiful, but she is one of the best big sisters in gaming I've seen, given how much respect her baby brother gives her. ▪ You all know my feelings about Sidon, but I'm gonna say it anyways. He's a real handsome fellow with a charming grin and an even more charming personality. He cares deeply about his people and even more so about his sister. What I love most about Sidon is that while he is sweet and chipper, you also get a sense of his fear of failure and how much he misses Mipha when you catch him in front of the statue at night and he apologizes for his weakness. Like many of the other characters, he's much more deeper than he seems. ▪Hestu and the Koroks are really cute! No lie, Hestu's Dance is gonna be my new ringtone ▪Great Fairies are super gorgeous along with the majority of the other characters! Breath of the Wild? More like Breath of the Beauties -Blupees and the Lord of the Mountain are amazing. I only wish that you could register him and the other special mounts in a special stable. I don't know when I'll finish it but I look forward to many more surprises Breath of the Wild can offer.
