time to be real ⊹ dagger squad (top gun maverick)

synopsis: in celebration of the bereal skit miles did for snl and as an avid bereal user i present you you: who in top gun maverick would have/use bereal

mickey as the youngest among the squadron would be the one to introduce bereal. it’d go something like this:

late night at hard deck and suddenly mickey gets a notification. the bar is bustling and rest are playing games of pool and all of sudden he goes “i gotta take my bereal” and he swears that everyone just stops what they’re doing and turn to him, bewildered

“take your what now?”

“what the fuck is a be real?”

cue mickey going on a 10 minute tangent on what bereal is. bob is hooked the second he started explaining what it is, he’s all for capturing memories so he didn’t hesitate to download is for himself.

“so when you take a photo does it only take the front view?” phoenix inquires, unconvinced.

“that’s the cool thing it takes both front and back!” mickey gleams, trying his hardest to get them to join in on the fun.

payback had already downloaded it since fanboy started using it, he got curious and with the soft spot he has for his back seater he was persuaded easily.

on the contrary phoenix, hangman and rooster were unconvinced and basically uninterested about the app. coyote tried to seem unfazed on the whole concept but the second he saw fanboy take one he folded, easily.

after that night the ones who had downloaded the app used it everyday and i mean they never missed a picture. even during training exercises– if the notification popped up they’d do it, if they were at hard deck playing pool or darts and the notification popped they’d drop everything and take a photo, the disappointment shakes from phoenix and rooster, hangman included but he was starting to feel a little left out when they would laugh over their bereals so he caved and downloaded it. (hangman deffo gets fomo)

that leaves natasha and rooster. okay listen, natasha loves her backseater to pieces and would honestly die for him but he she has to hear another peep out of him about bereal she’d look for a new backseater asap so that’s where she caved in order for him to stop talking about it she’d just have to download it– aka his plan worked.

rooster downloaded it after finding out maverick had it and he didn’t want to be the one who didn’t have it so.

phoenix and rooster won’t consistently post, claiming they have real lives. fanboy and coyote go crazy on the reactions and bob would always comment on their bereals (sweet little thing) and he would always be on time with his bereals, never a second early or late. hangman would definitely post a bereal on the toilet, who are we kidding. there is also an ongoing competition on who can post the best and coolest be reals and the judge being maverick and maybe cyclone if he gives then the chance.
