ok listen so my relationship with the transformers movies is so so so so so so so so complicated but GOD i'm so excited for this one to come out

initially i was like "they're making ANOTHER one ???!!!" because literally they are all so bad. its like the pirates of the carribbean franchise they just gotta STOP. but the new movie is with a totally new director and producing company (paramount and skydance are collaborating) so i have HOPES.

I did a little research and apparently the new movie (rise of the beasts) is a sequel to the solo bumblebee movie (aka the ONLY transformers movie in my rich inner world) so !!!!!!

it's also technically a prequel to the michael bay bullshit BUT it could potentially be a reboot instead because the characters in the trailer (the gorilla [optimus primal] and other animals) are the current autobots' descendants so it could possibly be an xmen days of future past situation where the past + future characters cause the timeline to reset. in which case the michael bay movies would no longer be canon. bless <3

the designs for all the autobots and maximals (animal robots) also SLAP btw. something about me is that the quickest path to my heart is robots <33333

I really really love the details with the maximals because !! its hard to see because of the low quality but they have actual fur and skin in a few places !!! because the maximals are the future descendants of the autobots, they're much more advanced, and they're a mix of robotic and organic and honestly it's SUCH a cool detail

and optimus prime's faceplate <333 it's soooooo <3333333333 like i said in my earlier post I didn't initially like optimus' design because it felt. boxier and clunkier than his designs in the michael bay movies but tbh it's grown on me!! it resembles some of his earlier more original designs which is a nice touch, and plus I'm not one to bitch about any robot design that fucks severely.
