Wilford: What does that even mean?!

Ben: It means we all got high, you moron. And we put glitter and nitro-glycerin in a bunch of beakers and drank it with some railmans ale. And Audrey taught us all how to dance to a song called Cotton-Eyed Joe. And then we played Twister for four hours while the Headwoods went around poking us with scalpels and sticking cotton swabs in our mouths asking for DNA.

Boki: It was amazing.

Jinju: They served charred kale. I love charred kale.

Audrey: I liked the part where we got to experiment on each other.

Javi: I didn't. They said they'd run out of buccal swabs.

Commander Grey: What kind did they use on you then? I don't remember much after the fireworks came out of the cake--

Ruth: I rather enjoyed that bit myself. I always like a good sparkler or two.

What made you ship it?

Tldr finding melruth fic and then rewatching the show through that lens. Excuse to wear your furs caught me by the throat and then the See You Around scene captured my soul and I've been unwell for them ever since.

What are your favorite things about the ship?

I am in love with them both. Lesbians sapphics. So much angst potential. Flirting hours. PINING. Being toxic for each other and yet still being each others best options because canon boyfriends don't do it for Ruthie.

Is there an unpopular opinion you have on your ship?

What made you ship it?

@cinnamontea put the idea in my head and it stuck around like a bad smell. We both fic'd it. Now I can't get over it because they're both broken little babies ❤️

What are your favorite things about the ship?

Size difference, scars inside vs out, enemies to friends to lovers potential. Boki calling her Rushenka. Ruth has two hands potential 👀

Is there an unpopular opinion you have on your ship?

infinitely more palatable than Ruth/Roche. Also, Boki needs to die because Curse.

Mel/Wilford

Why don’t you ship it?

It makes me feel a bit queasy. I absolutely see potential there but it's not a comfortable ship and I get a bit squicked out both about the idea of them being married and/or there still being romance there.

What would have made you like it?

If they'd been business partners and not businessman and his teenage ingenue. If Wilford wasn't Sean Bean.

Despite not shipping it, do you have anything positive to say about it?

The fics about it absolutely slap once I get past the icky feeling.

Why don’t you ship it?

I prefer to forget Layton exists. Also idk the time frame seems sketchy to me but that applies to their friendship / mutual respect too.

What would have made you like it?

If it had been overtly canon (in the way melben is) then I coulda maybe got behind it because JC and DD could be hot not gonna lie.

Despite not shipping it, do you have anything positive to say about it?

The fics slap, especially the anon ones 👀. I do like the whole hatefucking vibe. Also @onetrainsnowpiercer's screencaps do make it more plausible so I can maybe be convinced.
