beastieball: the RELATIONSHIP TRACKER

if you’ve played the beastieball demo and aren’t on the official discord for whatever reason, you may like to know that we have been collecting data for beastie relationship combo moves on there! here’s the spreadsheet (sorry mobile users)

additionally, the conditions for what relationships happen have been theorized (see below)

forgot to mention this below but besties can either get a def or support combo which is determined by an unknown factor. this may change the combo and it Does change whether you can play it on offense or defense i believe

initially vibes were theorized to determine what kind of relationship two beasties would develop. this doesn’t seem to be the case though. instead, the type of moves used in battle appear to be what causes relationships:

switching between two beasties in a battle repeatedly (during defense turns) causes them to be rivals

using support moves likely causes beasties to be besties

using defense moves likely causes beasties to be partners

unfortunately, sweethearts can’t happen in the demo because, according to the man himself, only “mature” (likely “evolved”) beasties can become sweethearts. a sweetheart pairing (between two shoogas) has been achieved through a glitch. however: 1) this was a complete accident, 2) the combo move was the same as the support combo move for the bestie pairing between two shoogas, and 3) the glitch was immediately patched out
