My dad watching Matrix Resurrections: idk it was weird and different and didn't work for me :/

Me watching Matrix Resurrections: must a movie be good? Is it not enough that Trinity and Neo have heart eyes and Morpheus wears a very orange suit?

#griffin watches things #the matrix #the matrix resurrections #the difference between a lifelong fan and a brand new fan ig #i watched the original matrix w my dad about a week before i saw the new one #I can't even argue whether or not resurrections is a good continuation #it doesn't really matter to me #I've only seen the first and most recent film #and to me resurrections succeeded when it entertianed me and made me think about life in the same ways the matrix did #but he has seen these films dozens of times or more and put so much thought into them #so our perspectives are equally valid and important #the lifelong fan viewpoint is essential bc res is an anticpated sequel to a beloved film #it is meant to be a culmination of that love and legacy #but the new fan perspective is equally essential #because the new film is meant to take the matrix to a bran new audience #a young and modern one #and also there's the meta discussion of should this film even have been made #was lana even satisfied making it? would it have been better if she had not? or is it worth having #even if she didn't originally want to make it? #i do wish my dad liked the movie so we could enjoy it together #and so he could have a revival of one of his favorite franchises that makes him happy #but i think if everyone liked the new matrix it would be a different film and maybe not as interesting
