Born and raised in the oasis Phenac City, right in the middle of the deserted region of Orre, Terra grew up with Pokémon from a very young age. His parents were school teachers at the city’s famous Pokémon School, which doubled as a natural sanctuary for recovering Shadow Pokémon that lacked a trainer due to having been recovered from the nefarious Cipher Co.

Eventually, he befriended one of the recovering Eevees, who became his closest friend, and slowly started to get more involved in the school, teaching the children in the city about Pokémon and how to correctly establish lasting, respectful relationships with them.

As part of his job, Terra acted as a Pokémon Battle Coach for many years, helping others develop their battle skills and their bonds with their Pokémon friends. When he was old enough to do so, he decided to embark on a journey to take on a Pokémon League - This journey took him to the Galar region thanks to a family friend who resided there.

The trainer successfully beat all eight gym leaders, and now finds himself in Swyn City, ready to take on the ultimate test.

Granbull (Abscissa) - The X to Haley’s Y. It takes the two of them to locate a place and keep her on the right track with the correct coordinates. She’s had Abscissa since she was a little tiny Snubbull sniffing around and getting into trouble. Always able to alert Haley of something, she’s keeping Haley’s nose clean and her own pressed to the ground.

Dragonair (天龙 Tian Long) - Sky’s the limit. Tian Long was a smaller dragon then Haley first came across him. (He was still a massive Dratini though).  He was evasive and dipped in and out of a nearby lake. It took Jiao Kuai’s quick abilities to finally wear him out enough to have him trust her. He know envelops the entirety of her camp whenever they have to settle down and makes sure the mood is comfortable.

Espeon (Eileen) - C’mon Eileen. True to her catlike nature, she’s always a little more aloof. You never quite know what she’s thinking. Which is definitely not fair given the fact that she’s the psychic one.

Noibat (Nano) - Disappears in less than a millisecond. Mischievous and smallest member of the bunch, Nano is always on the hunt for a berry or two and sometimes it can get her into a little bit of trouble. When she’s out and about she flies up alongside Haley’s ear and comes to roost on her shoulder whenever the wind picks up too much.

Meinshao (脚快 Jiao Kuai) - Swift of foot, quick of mind. Jiao Kuai was Haley’s first pokemon. Named fast feet for her swift footed moves and combos, she is Haley’s favorite to use when she needs to whittle down an opponent’s reserve energy. 

Pangoro (Pythagoras/ Py, Thag, Ras, Rassy,) - Don’t need A, B, or C to make this equation work. From the young days of Pythagoras being a glaringly cute Pancham, he’s always been very protective of Haley. It was cute when he was 2 ft tall, but now that he towers over her at 6′11 he can really scare a person away if they’re giving her too much trouble. Deep down, he’s a big ole teddy bear though. 

Biography (200 words):

Haley Long wants to be the very best! That no one ever was!

Well--except for her big brother, Jake. He was Pokemon Champion in 2016. But she’s now younger than he was when he became champion. She blew through badges easily, studying the moves of the gym leaders and calculating tactically with her team on the perfect moment to strike.

Haley has daily meditation sessions with her team. Focus is the name of the game. All of their minds must be sharp if they’re going to win this thing.

Oh, and she didn’t do all of this alone. She actually managed to make some friends along the way. 

After she’d defeated the gyms in Unova, she made her way to Galar to start an entirely new journey. At the first gym she faced, she ran into Spinelli and though they were both competitors they formed a bond of camaraderie and friendly competition and struck out alongside each other, pushing each other to be the very best.

On their journey, they picked up another friend for their group. The Cove Gym’s youngest Triton sister, Ariel, told them that she wanted to travel and see Galar before she settled in with her sisters at the gym. And so the gang was formed.

Haley and Spinelli often times spar and battle each other. Something Haley likes the most to keep her and her pokemon’s reflexes sharp and quick on long journeys to the next badge. Ariel acts as referree and the voice of reason when things get a little too competitive between the two of them.

Now both entered into the tournament, who will come out on top? Will either of them make it to the finish? And will Haley find the power that’s inside to be the next Champion Long?

Biography:

Barrel loves two things in this world: his siblings and his Pokemon.

Spikemuth was not the best place to grow up in, so when Lock and Shock told him they knew how to get out of the dump they were living in, Barrel followed. He doesn’t know what they do most of the time, but they sneak around into dark places a lot and take Pokemon away. Barrel likes to think they are saving the Pokemon. He thinks all Pokemon should find good homes.

Barrel didn’t have a starter, per say, but a lost Meowth he found wandering the alleys of Spikemuth. That was the first Meowth of his collection. The next one, an Aloan Meowth, was abandoned by its trainers, who were vacationing. The final one, a Galarian Meowth, he found while on the road with his siblings.

He loves his three Meowths a lot and wouldn’t trade them for anything in the world. The last Pokemon he has is the only one he’s battled and caught traditionally: a Magikarp! He’s very proud of it. His siblings tease him, but one day it will be a strong, powerful Gyrados.

Till then, Barrel follows Shock and Lock along. Lock is going to compete in the League this year! Barrel is very excited. Oh, and they also have a job to do or something? Barrel will do it all!

Sung-Woo was just six years old when he lost his parents and was brought to an orphanage in Wyndon. They took care of him well enough, but the grief had him distracted on one of their outings. Before Sung-Woo knew it he was all alone in the sprawl of the city. He hadn’t been at the orphanage long enough to find his way and he was hungry and miserable by the time he came across a cubone.

The cubone took Sung-Woo somewhere safe with him, and when at first cubone made himself a menace in the city in order to bring Sung-Woo food, soon enough they were a team, stealing what they needed to survive. As Sung-Woo grew, he learned what it meant to partner with pokemon, and soon he found himself surrounded by pokemon he loved and that loved him.

If it weren’t for Team Rocket out there, Sung-Woo likely would have continued to live just outside the city with only his pokemon for company. However, Team Rocket managed to steal some pokemon not far from where they’d made their home, and Sung-Woo decided things had to change. With his companions’ approval, they officially became a team (with poke balls for their safekeeping, and Sung-Woo getting a job in Swyn City just as the League started up.

Dipper traveled all across Unova in search of Pokemon, completed all the gyms, took on all the challengers, but that wasn’t enough to sate his desire to complete the ultimate Pokedex. He journeyed onto Hoenn — where he met his now partner Pokemon Timmy the Metagross — and through Sinnoh, Johto, Kanto, and more. An explorer at heart, Dipper wants to see the world and all the cool Pokemon in it. 

He comes to Galar now ready to take on the League! He’s already earned all his Unova badges, so what’s another region to conquer? With savvy skills, the whole Pokedex basically memorized, and a penchant for getting into places he probably shouldn’t, Dipper Pines is ready for anything Galar has to throw at him! He breezed past the gyms with finesse and now comes to Swyn City ready to take on the other challengers. One thing’s for sure — the Galar region knows how to put on a dang show. Biography (200 words): When Louie was born, his family was a mess. His parents were fighting, his uncle was fighting with them and rather than work out their problems, they decided to split the triplets up and not tell anything to them. Louie ended up going to live with his dad in Spikemuth where his dad worked as a pokemon researcher for some shady looking guys.

Louie was ten when he was able to go pick out his very first pokemon, having held the dream that he became a pokemon trainer ever since he could remember. Like every other kid his year, he waited and he chose his charmander, immediately connecting with the fiery pokemon. Louie left home and never really looked back. 

Along the way he caught and trained more pokemon, until he was just two badges away from being ready for the pokemon league. That was where he hit a snag. He trained hard with his pokemon, but he hadn’t quite figured out the right strategy for that gym. That was when he decided to take time off, traveling around the region with his pokemon, trying to remember the fun part about raising pokemon. It was sometime around there he met his friends and decided to travel with them, ultimately going back and facing the gyms he hadn’t quite managed.

Now he’s in Swyn City, determined to show the world that he has what it takes to be League Champion.

Biography: 

Jun moved with his family to the outskirts of Swyn City for a fresh start. The family had once run a pokemart, but it was destroyed in an unfortunate Team Rocket battle royale! They decided to take a few humble skiddos and raise them into gogoats, and began their farm that way. Their gamble paid off! Soon, they had gocheese, gomilk-- even fancy artisanal gosoaps they could sell in town! After a few years, Eun-jung and Yeong-seok even decided to grow the family...by purchasing a miltank and a few whimsicotts!

Just kidding, they had a couple more kids-- Tae, Sky, Star, and Sun! 

And while his younger siblings all had aspirations for that pokemon champion life, Jun was satisfied with his humble farm roots. Nothing made him happier than starting the morning early in the little garden he’s started to grow. His companion, Noona the chikorita, will come out with him and help pull weeds and keep the vegetables healthy. And she’s surprisingly a pretty great herder pokemon, ready to vine whip those gogoats back in line!

Now, Jun is very excited (even if he wont’ admit it) to welcome his little brother back to Swyn City for his first ever league. Team Moon for the win!

Biography: 

Dash had always had his competitive side. Even before getting his starter, he had challenged friends to “duels” and races on the playground. But once Chomper barreled into his life (literally! The little turtwig nearly knocked him over!), he was battling everyone he came across (and rattatas in the yard when the neighbors got tired of him). It was only natural for him to start getting serious about his training. In no time, he caught his first wild pokemon, an Electrode he affectionately (and maybe somewhat childishly) named Zap, and started catching more to build out his team, evolving them, and making sure they were at their peak ability for battles.

Of course he had his parents to thank for their guidance and encouragement over the years (and his dad for lending him his machamp), and his sister for her equally competitive nature. His pokemon team is equally to thank, too with their strong bond to get them through even the toughest of battles.

After strategizing and winning all eight Galar badges, Dash is finally ready to enter into his first Championship Tournament. He cheered his sister Violet on in 2016 and 2017 when she fought for her chance at the Champion Title, but now as the 2020 Swyn League Championship approaches, he prepares to face her as an opponent and has no intentions of holding back.

Once upon a time, Rita came this close to attaining the title of Champion.

Finishing in the final three was bittersweet for Rita. She’d aspired for so long to be The Champion that she wasn’t sure what to do now that her turn was up. Defeated, she returned to Hammerlocke.

Settling into normal life was difficult but with the help of her pokemon and a few others, Rita found a calling in the town’s Pokemon Day Care Center. Finding someone to share her passion with and start a family of their own was an added bonus. 

Now as another championship league begins, Rita is rather excited to see what is in store for the region and for those trainers that have made it so far in their journey.

Who’s he to avoid a party though and to watch the tournament happen. He’s planning it safe and he looking at his competition. At one point or another he’s going to have to fight them.

You might also ask why does Ollie still has a Eevee, honest he hasn’t decided what evolution he wants to take. Sure he knows he could diversify but Eevee has so many opportunities just like Ollie wants for himself. Maybe when he actually gets into the tournament he’ll have his eevee evolve.

Franny Sor is from out of town, that much is obvious when the eccentric Pokemon breeder opens her mouth and an accent even funny to people from her native Hoenn region comes out. It was the accent that endeared her to the people of Galar back in 1999 when she won the Swyn City League Championship as a teenager.

She spent the next few years racking up championships in other regions, before retiring her career as an active Pokemon trainer at twenty-four, after achieving her final goal of the Sinnoh League Championship. A brief return to Hoenn to run her parents’ gym came to an end when she relinquished control to her older brothers in favor of marrying a man from Iki Town, Alola, a  Pokemonthropologist. She kept her last name, due to her fame as a championship-storming trainer.

She settled with her husband in Swyn City, the city that had adopted the out-of-towner as their own in 1999, and began a career as a Pokemon breeder twelve years ago. She specializes in bug and fire-type pokemon.

Yknow, Kristoff didn’t know what all the fuss was about.

All of his classmates tripping over themselves to try and get their starter Pokemon and be the very best— not for him. Kristoff had always wanted a quieter life. He wasn’t so competitive, and he didn’t like the thought of it besides. Pokemon battling other Pokemon, being taken from the wild…

That was what drew him to the forest in Swyn City, to being a student ranger; when he graduated toan area ranger, he made a request — so many students were drawn to the lush green forest and the sparkling water of the river and the lake, but he wanted to go somewhere quieter. Somewhere some people didn’t think to protect.

He wanted to work out in the rocky outcrops of the quarry, protecting the Pokemon within it. Though he never planned on having any pokemon on his own, today he finds himself with two little companions: a Rockruff named Sven who refused to go back to his natural habitat after Kristoff helped to rehabilitate him, and a dopey Shieldon called Buldr, who decided to claim Kristoff after he saved him from being part of a pretty nasty rock fall.

With all the new people in the area Kristoff is a little on edge; he’ll be venturing into town every now and then to see what’s up...

If his parents are the ones asking, they’re not a team; they’re more like a.... band of strays. Companions! He’s got a lot of those. Of course he got his starter, little Chilli, when he turned 10, but since then he’s managed to collect a few more little friends who are just friends mom jeez no I’m not going to battle them.

He will, though. If given the opportunity. For the mean time he’s just mooching around, trying to bust wooloos out of the petting zoo and get himself a few more ‘companions’.

Huey didn't know much about the drama that went on with his family when he was younger. He was too young to remember the fights, the muttered comments and the cruel words; his childhood was spent with his mother, an up-and-coming pokemonthropoligist as she travelled from region to region for her studies.

And Huey didn't mind that. In fact, he quite enjoyed it, because it made his life more interesting. When he was old enough for his first pokemon, he received it from a friend of his mother's, a gnarled old professor in Alola who offered him the little Dedenne that Huey still calls his best friend today.

As they travelled around, Huey learned more about pokemon and began to catch them and train them, more for something to do than for anything else. After a while, he and his mother settled into Saffron City, and whilst his mother worked Huey continued to train his team, though he spent a lot of his time working alongside his mother and learning from her, too.

Now that he and his mother are in Swyn City for his mom's work, he's decided to enter the league for something to do!

Gaston’s parents first came to Swyn City from Alola, in search of a new start and the freedoms to breed as they wished. Over the years, they built a name for themselves in the area as small, handraised breeding shelter for local Pokemon. They’d always stayed fairly small scale, but when they passed in a freak accident while looking for a new breed, the business got smaller still.

Gaston lacks his parents passion when it comes to breeding, though the business stays afloat... ish. Though perhaps only for its simplicity. After all, how hard can leaving a bunch of Pokemon in a shed to rut away really be? Not very, is the simple answer.

Of course, he’s had more than his fair share of complaints - increasing over the years, due to poor living conditions and suspected inbreeding. But really, that’s the buyers’ problems, not his.

Anthony Coleman's first experience with pokemon growing up came when some brat showing off accidentally leveled a building for some pokemon battle. If one person in this world had the rarest and strongest pokemon, they could rule the whole world!

To unite all people within our nation...

He was the kind of trainer that was impatient with pokemon’s progress. He gave his Meowth something to evolve it sooner and make it a more powerful Persian. He did the same with most other pokemon. One notable exception was his Tyrantrum, which was the first pokemon that he ever stole when he saw it as a tyrunt in a battle. With the help of this pokemon, he started intimidating people and recruiting others into his newly founded Team Rocket. In order to avoid any suspicion, he opened up his own gym 

To denounce the evils of truth and love...

With the discussion of a new Swyn City Pokemon League competition arising, Anthony saw it as the perfect opportunity. Only the strongest and most unique of pokemon would be there. It would be just the right place to strike and to take what they needed. Team Rocket would find a way to infiltrate the league.

To extend our reach to the stars above...

With that in mind, he called for Lock Adamson to infiltrate the League, hoping that his proximity with other trainers would allow for pokemon to fall through the cracks, and for their team to be able to possess some of the world’s most powerful pokemon.
