I found this in my drafts and I think I’m just going to leave it here like a nice little start-of-the-week Borgiacest cliffhanger
Happy Monday!

If I may get on my soapbox for a minute, having just binged the borgias for the first time in about two weeks - Cesare/Lucrezia is wonderfully done in season 3 when they *do* do it, but you can def see that Jordan wasn't keen on making it the main plot even though it really should've been. The best episodes are 3 and 4 and they just sort of... drop it until the end, and everything else apart from Cesare's arc is essentially filler. Kudos to Francois saying 'yeah obviously we played it like this from the beginning 🤷‍♂️'. I've wondered if the reason borgias: apocalypse wasn't made was partially bc the execs sensed a negative fan reaction.
Welcome to the Borgiacest club!
I'm agreed on all counts, Anon.
It's amazing that Jordan executed Ces/Lu so well in early/mid season 3 when he clearly was not enthusiastic about the incest angle. Siblings is SUCH great episode and the build-up and tension and fall out are amazing.
I don't like to even think about The Borgia Apocalypse. When it was first being spread around on tumblr, I think Apocalypse was just a nickname for it because it sucked so bad. Turns out it was the real title. I think it was garbage all around, and not just for the knife it stuck into Ces/Lu. All I can say is that the execs did good that time.
The cancellation was a mercy for shippers, I'm sure season 4 would have gone down a similar path. It was what Jordan wanted.

Simon and Daphne are cute no argument there, same w Kate and Anthony- if not even more cute... yet my dumb shipper brain is overwhelmingly drawn to these two

For my Borgiacest family friends out there, do you know of any BOOKS where the main couple with a heart-wrenchingly forbidden and close relationship like Lucrezia and Cesare? Incestuous and Historical included would be awesome, and I know this is asking for basically the impossible-there is no romance like Lucrezia and Cesare. But I’m having MAJOR WITHDRAWAL SYMPTOMS and I need a book/books.
P.S. No fanmade stories. Like actual published works.
Thank you for having pity on my poor soul.

gif maker asks: 24 - 35
Questions for gif-makers.
24. 480p 720p 1080p? What is the minimum quality you’ll gif from
Honestly, it all depends on how bad I need the resources/want to gif the person. Generally I try not to go under 720p tho
25.  Old dimensions or new dimensions and why
honestly i don’t even know what the old/new dimensions are, i pretty much only post with two dimensions that i sorta made up? 270x170 and 250x150
26. How many un posted sets are in your drafts right now
I don’t have any in my drafts, but I have like....12 in my queue
27. Have you ever made a set, decided you hated it and deleted it? What was it
I’ve never /hated/ one, but I’ve been like...I don’t like the flow of it, and deleted it before it ever went on my blog
28. Have you ever posted a set, regretted it and immediately deleted it
A few, mostly of ships that I know other people don’t really approve of (cough cough borgiacest cough cough), and i’m like....can’t let them know i’m a freak™
29. Have you ever posted a set, realized you made a mistake later but it was already too late
Seeing as I don’t generally add subtitles or something, the only mistakes i’ve really made are like....forgetting to change the frame rate? then i just fix it but generally don’t worry too much about it.
30. How frequently do you like to post
Gifpacks I don’t really have a set time for, I just post ‘em when I’m finished (although every once in awhile if it’s of a TV show actor, I’ll challenge myself to get it out the night the ep premiered, or the day after).  For gifsets, I do try and post two a day (1 at 10 am and 1 at 10pm), but sometimes i forget to queue shit so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
31. Do you schedule/queue posts or do you post right after you’re done
Post gifpacks as soon as they’re done and queue gif posts
32. What is your favorite tool/adjustment layer in Photoshop
Honestly despite using PS for like over a year now i pretty much know how to do nothing. i import, throw a psd on top, crop and resize and i’m done tbh.
33. Do you like to/can you make edits and graphics too or only gifs
I can make graphics, although a lot of the tactics I use are just rudimentary bs that i brought over from my gimp days
34. A set that took you a long time/was really hard but you’re really proud of how it came out
like i said, i ain’t doing anything fancy, so I don’t have one that i’m!!! super proud of.  Although, there might be a few times when i did like text or a texture overlay in gimp or something that i’m proud of just because it was so fucking tedious to do it on there.  also i have some crackships that look really damn real and i’m like yaaasss
35. Do you change your giffing style a lot or do you have a set routine
A set routine, and honestly it’s the only reason i can make gifs so fast bc at this point it’s pretty mindless

the look on Alfonso's face will never not be funny
Y'all the System keeps messing my tags all the way up and I'm not about to shorten them so here they are, coherent for once:
So, I've been critical in the past of Lucrezia's reasons for turning to Cesare *physically*, because every time she does so her trigger is being rejected by Alfonso in one way or another. Now, I will admit that seducing one's brother is never a mundane or average reaction when rejected, but social convention aside, this specific reaction bothers me because it seems to showcase Lucrezia's low self-esteem and her love/trust issues. Obviously she and Cesare both suffer from this to some measure, partly because they've been low-key in love with each other their whole lives (sorry Neil), but to make that the thing that pushed Lucrezia over the edge seems like Red Flags Class 101. But rewatching this scene gave me a slightly different perspective that I wanted to throw out there in a bunch of messy and unasked-for tags:
I know that Lucrezia was on a campaign to woe Alfonso into sleeping with her (which couldn't possibly have anything to do with her nascent suspicion that Cesare killed Juan for her, which I do believe got the incestuous mess of season 3 rolling officially), but I don't think that explains her behaviour in this scene. The air is frigid until she mentions Cesare - ostensibly trying to warn Alfonso that Cesare can act like a psychopath when anyone tries to have a discussion with him about Lucrezia, but in reality she gets mentally side-tracked when she starts talking about Cesare's passions and how they're so intense when it comes to his "family". Immediately after she gets all touchy and affectionate towards Alfonso, kissing him etc., when Alfonso clearly looks turned off. He gives her the most awkward laugh in the universite and then randomly leaves (even though he was hardly in danger of losing his virginity, I mean, come on). Lucrezia stares off into space with this discontented but determined expression - and THAT is when she thinks about the conversation and realizes she knows darn well how intense Cesare's passions are towards her. She pays him a visit not long after, and can't go five minutes before making a suggestive remark and basically rubbing up against him. Cesare just happens to be feeling his oats because he's trying on armour, I suppose, and "chastily" kisses her (in the exact same way Lucrezia kisses Alfonso) and things start falling into place for Lucrezia. As some sort of final test, she invites Ces to her room, and the damage is officially done.
Now, looking at it this way, her decision to go to Cesare's room during the wedding or her decision to receive him naked are less about her insecurity invoked by Alfonso's rejection of her, but rather his rejection and the problem with her child (let's keep in mind that Cesare failed to fix that for her and yet she pulled more to him than to Alfonso) seemed to have caused her to feel more secure about the nature of her bond with Cesare - so even though there's a lot of insecurity in her, low self-esteem etc., opting to go to Cesare was her solution for the problem, finding that missing piece of the puzzle. If Cesare, who did not have this same "awakening", had not rejected her time and again after the wedding, I doubt she would have suffered so much from their relationship. She admits to it, really: she keeps searching Cesare out and never tries to pretend that her love for him is planotic. So my closing argument for today, Your Honour (lol), is that that notion originated more or less in this scene.
I'm also starting to see why my tags didn't fit.
Have a lovely weekend everyone!

I really wish that one particular scene hadn't focused so much on Lucrezia. I would have killed to have a close-up of Cesare's face too. What was his expression like? Was he looking at Lucrezia in adoration? Was his face betraying the desire of a dream come true or utter fear of damnation??
I know François put all of his acting legend forward in that scene and I am low-key bitter we don't really get to see it.
I couldn't agree more! They focus on Cesare in the beginning of the 3x03 scene and then it's all on Lucrezia. I get that they wanted to focus more on her, since she took most of the iniative and it was her wedding night (lol), but even so... I would have been okay with flashbacks or a longer scene. At least they did a behind-the-scenes for the episode..

Cesare and Lucrezia: Parallels

Here’s an update on the La Morte series - which is now a series, because I just couldn’t resist. It is listed as part two, but it is in fact the prelude to Lucrezia’s story - starting on the very night that Cesare Borgia drives a knife into his brother's stomach and throws him into the Tiber and ending after Lucrezia Borgia makes the fateful decision to seek out her brother in his chambers. I’m two chapters in, but the third will come out soon, I expect.

Fandom: The Borgias (Showtime TV) Rating: Mature Series: Part 2 of La Morte Borgia Summary: Cesare has just done the unforgiveable: fratricide. Thinking this a logical and necessary act, he considers himself unphased - while in reality, that ultimate murder is the symbol of much more than politics or mere pragmaism. Years of built-up tensions and repressed feelings within Cesare come to the surface, and dramatically restructure not only his life but the dynamics of his entire family. As his relationship with his father becomes more strained than ever, another relationship is slowly pushing itself centre stage, until it has Cesare firmly in its grip.

Chapters: 9: Les Contretemps Series: Part 2 of La Morte Borgia
I had a lot of free time recently that I probably should have used to get other matters in order, but instead I worked on this story - so I’m super stressed out, but chapter 1-9 are all out there so it kind of balances out. Anyway, Cesare is dealing with what he did to his brother and has the additional problem that his feelings for Lucrezia are changing (”getting a bit deeper”, to use the words of François Arnaud himself) - or, depending on how one looks at things, his feelings are consolidating. Spoiler: at least one of the siblings is naked in the last chapter I added.
