#namely being that community signifies a *mutual* obligation n we have to do more than simply complain #(bc i lied in my last post i kept one dw tab open lol) #been seeing people basically say stuff like 'ao3 needs to adapt to the changing times' in ways that i remember mentioning to friends #that would make the site a lot better in terms of facilitating new user onboarding #stuff like a goddamn posting etiquette page and explanation of *how tagging works* beyond just #'these are the tag categories! we will not tell you the nuances of what this means when searching tags!' #bc i think a clearer understanding of how tags get wrangled for the filter system would be really helpful with curbing overtagging issues #bc ao3 was designed at a time where you were expected to be familiar w fandom norms when joining the site but that's not true anymore! #n so i get the impression that new ao3 users don't rlly do a lot of lurking before they start posting or w/e #n if ao3 is going to present itself as a community then it Has to be better abt teaching new members abt site intricacies n culture #花話
