Hiking up the fire trail to Bourke Lookout and Mt Dandenong on SAT July15,2023 at 10:00am (FREE EVENT)
This hike is created by Mr Owen from Avocardio_Melbourne. Anyone can join in. Place to meet up at Dandenong will be update soon, but whoever nearby Hawthorn/Camberwell, we can meet up at Harsh Speciality Coffee in Camberwell (near Camberwell Market) around 08:15am.
The first 1km follows Glasgow track straight up a huge hill, gaining all 300m+ in this short distance. When you near the top, you'll turn right onto Kyeema Track, a fire trail leading to Bourke's Lookout. The lookout provides outstanding views looking out over Melbourne. Generally considered a moderately challenging route (the walk is on the easier side of 'moderate' difficulty). it takes an average of 1 h 21 min to complete. This is a popular trail for hiking, running, and walking, but you can still enjoy some solitude during quieter times of day.
Burkes Lookout, Mt Dandenong, has some of the best views over Melbourne & Port Philip Bay. It's an easy walking track in the Dandenong Ranges National Park.
Mt Dandenong - At 633 metres above sea-level, it is the highest point in the surrounding ranges. At the peak is the Sky High Restaurant, a cafe, BBQ and picnic areas, attractive formal gardens, and spectacular views across Melbourne's eastern suburbs and to the city from various viewing platforms.
