i feel like around 10 years ago YA fiction started getting euphoria-fied and now like you cannot find the kind of trashy, low stakes books that were published for teens in like the early 2000s anymore

#like i bought a few ya books from like 2005 at a used book sale over the weekend #and they're all like pg rated romance and best friend drama and all end super happy #and now i feel like ya is just like drug addiction dystopia murder poltical strife #like i guess authors finally realized that teens care about real problems but like....a fun book pls #books
