tbh italian tennis has the same problem as american tennis in that their support of players is completely fair-weather

#obviously I’ve gone on many unhinged rants about the treatment of american tennis players #but the more I think about it the italians get the same shit #matteo berrettini has basically been disowned because of his injury #everyone has written off lorenzo musetti because of a slump #and don’t even get me started on jannik until he started having great results everyone was like “oh he isn’t REALLY italian” #and now everyone is like “ohhh jannik we never doubted you for a second! you’re the best!” #and no one ever talks about like jasmine paolini or martina trevisan despite them being ranked just as high as most of the guys #if not higher #ughhhh
