watching ghost hunting shows as a skeptic is so funny bc like. humans are desperate for their theories to be validated. they’ll make shit up. it’s what they do. also the fact that these “tools” have no scientific backing

#talking tag #i do enjoy bun/ghost files bc they’re funny about it #and they actually are honest about lack of evidence/unreliability of evidence #but most other ghost stuff peeves me bc people refuse to use logic and just go ‘omg that easily explainable noise was a ghost!!’ #and it goes back to psychology #similar to the thing the brain does. makes you see something if you stare at one spot for too long #i don’t know the word for it but it has similarities to selective hearing #where you want to hear something so bad that your brain convinces you that you are hearing it #and i just find a lot of auditory evidence unreliable for that reason #you’ll hear what you want to hear #also when they put subtitles of what the ‘ghosts’ are ‘saying’; that does make your brain more likely to hear what the subtitles say #which is why i always close my eyes. and usually it just sounds like gibberish #or even just static #also how do we KNOW ghosts communicate through white noise? where is the scientific proof of this? #WHY would they do that anyway? #and again. the lack of information concerning the physical properties of ghosts #you may think im overthinking but if youre gonna try and convince people to believe in something you have to be ready to fight against (1/2) #evidence and theories that support the contrary #im using the scientific term theory not the laymans term #you can disagree if you want i don’t actually care
