If people actually read both the books and had the barest of comprehensive skills they would know that JC is nothing like Mu Qing. Forget about comparison there isn't even any parallel. Actually no don't try to read tgcf because this people are the type to babiefy Qi Rong and damn I will be fucking mad if it ever comes to that
I believe twitter has already tried cutesy-ing up Qi Rong... but given it's... twitter I believe anything can come from that place no matter how ridiculous. Given that the western fans seem to have a huge thing for putting MXTX characters in the same box, they'll do just about anything to paint Jiang Cheng as "morally ambiguous".
I'm still not sure where this effect comes from with Americans especially loving to really soften up and woobie the villains in any form of media. Wuxia as a genre has pretty defined lines as to what is and isn't an antagonist as fantasy. And Mu Qing is not anywhere on the scale of antagonist like Jiang Cheng. And I think it's a bit insulting to MXTX that so many westerners try to box her characters into the same roles as Mo Dao Zu Shi when all of them are clearly very different in regards to their roles. Mu Qing and Lui Qingge are made to be false antagonists at the start but are definitively moved out of that not even halfway through the plots, whereas Jiang Cheng never shifts out of that role and continues to menace others in place of not going anywhere near Wei Wuxian.
I'm hesitant to even call Mu Qing anything like an anti-hero as that's more of Wei Wuxian's domain and placeholder.
