january music roundup
haven’t done this for a few months, but what better way to start the new year by wrapping up all the music i’ve found and have been listening to this past month!
talking to the moon- strandels: you all know i’m a whore for the moon so there was no reason why i wouldn’t love this song just from the title but then i listened and i haven’t stopped listening. this song perfectly captures the beauty of the moon and her steadfastness and it’s the exact kind of song you want to sit around a campfire at night singing with friends or just quietly by yourself. the harmonizing in this song makes me want to eat it it’s so delicious. this entire song is a five course meal. i can’t get enough. i’m feral over it.
cold heart (PNAU remix)- elton john, dua lipa, PNAU: a certified bop. literally haven’t been able to get it out of my head. this song is so addicting
fire for you- cannons: excellent slow groove song that both @justanalto and i agree has similar cigarettes after sex and aly and aj vibes
fade into a dream- LEON: the love of mine and @152glasslippers life. as always, all of LEON’s music hits just right. this is the perfect mix of regret and healing and missing that person you never thought you would lose and it’s just. ah.
i want to know what love is- amason: i’ve also been listening to the version by julia stone on repeat as well. incredible covers of a classic original that are so starkly different but still wonderful
til the lights come on- violet island: everything by this artist is so good. perfect music to have on in the background of working or to dance to in your room
yours- maybe: @justanalto introduced me to this song and it’s !!! another slow groove bop!!! big laying in your bed and having an existential crisis vibes. also a song i want to roller-skate down the road to at dawn. very specific but
i can’t make me- butterfly boucher: i watched one tree hill this past month so a lot of songs on my monthly playlist have been early 2000′s grunge rock throwbacks but this one sounds so contemporary? yet still has that warm nostalgia
dancing in the dark- madeline: this artists voice is what drew me into this song. not only does their voice encapsulate the point in life i’m at but the lyrics do too and it’s so intimate to be seen so clearly by a song written by a stranger
break me in- meg &dia: oh boy. this chorus sucked off my cerebral. absolutely devastated. i wasn’t prepared to be called out but man did i enjoy it. yes i cried.
