i guess this depends on how you read the characters but...

There's a point where you could read corrupted Sectonia as someone who is desperately trying to be happy but because of the way the corruption works she can't. No matter what body-swapping or destroying anyone who says anything negative about her, no matter how much power she has, no matter what she does. She will never be happy when she's under the influence of the mirror because that's what the darkness does. It strips people away of any positive emotions... She becomes blind to the one person that gave her happiness in the first place...

To an extent Haltmann works in a similar way, he tries endlessly to get his daughter back. So when he does find something that can, (Star Dream) he devotes himself to it, so much that he forgets the reason that he even devoted himself to it at all. So much so that he forgets his daughter, even when she is literally standing with him, working for him.

Isn't that interesting how these characters seem to want something so desperately but also have that thing right in front of them. Isn't it tragic that due to some ancient machine or artifact, they are literally prevented from seeing that thing?
