How about an alternate love interest for carewyn?

LMAO, I kind of hate myself for saying this, considering how super popular he is with the fandom...but Talbott. 😂

I'm sorry, I’ve considered other endgame ships in the past for Carewyn like Chiara/Carewyn and Diego/Carewyn, and they are both friggin’ adorable...but whenever I write Carewyn and Talbott interacting, they always have such fun platonic chemistry, it wouldn't be too much of a stretch to see them being not so platonic. The stuff I wrote for them in the second half of my Lone Wolves roleplay series really accents this --

Carewyn: “(curiously) So…what are you?”

Talbott: “Hn?”

Carewyn: “Your Animagus form.”

Talbott: “(smirks) What do you think?”

[Carewyn raised her eyebrows. Talbott’s smirk broadened, to reveal teeth.]

Talbott: “Indulge me.” 

[Trying not to smile amusedly at him throwing her own words back at her, Carewyn considered this.]

Carewyn: “(airily) Hmm…well, I could see you as a Doberman.”

Considering your habit of biting people’s hands off.

[Talbott actually gave a loud snort. One could’ve mistaken it for genuine laughter, but he tried to cover it up as something more derisive. The reaction actually made Carewyn smile a bit more broadly despite herself.]

Carewyn: “But judging by that reaction, I reckon that’s way off. Your mother was a swan, so you could be a bird of some kind…but considering you’re so opposed to Quidditch and flying, I have a bit of a hard time seeing that…”

Talbott: “(coolly) I said I’m not interested in Quidditch friendlies. I never said I didn’t like flying.”

Carewyn: “(amusedly) Aha! A bird it is, then. Thanks for the hint. Care to give me any more?”

Talbott: “(very dryly) Nope. One’s enough.”

Carewyn: “(smirks) Hn! If you’re a swan yourself, I guess you’d have to be a mute one.”

[Talbott once again snorted loudly. This time, though, he was having a lot of trouble keeping the smirk off his face, which likewise made Carewyn smile.]

I ultimately think Talbott and Carewyn would probably be way too serious of a pair-up (I mean, seriously, get these two some sunshine stat!!)...but that doesn’t mean I couldn’t see them being a pretty good couple, if they got together. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not taking down the Carion shipper flag anytime soon, because ultimate sunshine man Orion really helps Carewyn find some peace and contentment and pursue better psychological health, which she severely needs -- but after giving it some thought, I’ve decided that, of all of Carewyn’s friends, Talbott is probably the one who’d be the best choice for “alternate love interest.” He’s one of the few who can make Carewyn laugh a lot with his equally dry, witty sense of humor, but he’s also blunt enough to call her out on her crap, intellectual enough to engage her interest, and encouraging enough that he wouldn’t subconsciously push her perfectionism any harder the way that people like Andre do. And on the flip side, Carewyn is able to tap into Talbott’s feelings very deeply with both her strong Legilimency potential and highly developed empathy, making it so she can easily understand and articulate Talbott’s feelings when he has trouble saying the right words, and she shares his strong desire to make the world better and prevent other innocent people from being hurt the way she and Talbott were. Plus they honestly are the types who’d prefer a quiet existence rather than anything flashy or loud. There would admittedly be a bit of a conflict of interest in the working world if these two were a couple, since I see Talbott as an Auror and Carewyn as a lawyer who work together rather frequently -- but yeah, their career paths would still match up really well too. I’m kind of reminded of how Barbara Gordon in Batman Beyond ended up becoming a police chief who was married to Gotham City District Attorney Sam Young. 😆  I also personally headcanon Talbott on the “A” side of the LGBT+ community, just like Carewyn and Orion are (though I headcanon Talbott as demi, Carey as ace/pan, and Orion as gray-A), so that matches up too! 💜🤍🖤

Diego Caplan was -- in his words -- the best wizard duelist at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry and is one of Carewyn’s friends. Even while at school, Diego tutored many of his classmates in dueling techniques. One of the few students at school who could go toe-to-toe with him on the  dueling field was Carewyn Cromwell. Diego’s flirty affect can come across to others as either charming or obnoxious, but Carewyn actually finds it incredibly funny. She mentally dubs Diego’s deeper, “charmer” voice as him channeling Lando Calrissian from Star Wars, and it very frequently forces her to stifle her giggling. Fortunately Diego has never been offended by how amusing Carewyn finds him, simply being happy to make the usually overly-serious Slytherin paragon smile. Although at first glance Diego appears incredibly superficial and flirtatious, he’s actually a very dedicated, hard-working warrior and a deep romantic who enjoys chick flicks just as much as he does shoot-’em-up action films. When Diego joins the Circle of Khanna to support his friends and help bring Rowan Khanna’s killer to justice, he takes to calling Carewyn “General,” oftentimes with affectionate modifiers like “brave General” or “sweet General.” Both as students and as adults, Carewyn and Diego enjoy challenging each other to or fighting alongside each other in wizard duels, as well as watching movie musicals. (Some of Diego’s favorites include Moulin Rouge!, Singin’ in the Rain, and West Side Story.)  After the Second Wizarding War, Diego -- now a prominent dueling tutor for wealthy magical families -- also helps train Carewyn’s ward and aspiring Auror Erik Apollo, as a favor to his old friend.

@dat-silvers-girl -- Sarahi Silvers, AKA the classic Disney princess of MC’s. XDD Without fail, you’re the first person I go to whenever a new chapter’s out: even now, I always have to watch your playthroughs first, and your commentary always makes me smile. Sarahi as well is just the absolute cinnamon roll...a cinnamon roll that can kick serious ass!!

@samshogwarts -- Samantha O’Connell. Just...she’s so friggin’ adorable and I just...I just love her?? So much?? I honestly cannot wait to see more of the first year comic you’ve been working on for her. It was so much fun to try to write for Samantha in the POTC AU, especially to put her in the same space as Charlie. Without fail, whenever we get to interact, it always brightens my day too...you were one of the first friends I made in this fandom, and I’m so, so glad you were there at the start of my journey! <3

@hogwartsmystory -- Ethren Whitecross. Ethren is honestly so well-developed and so friggin’ relatable, and your writing is always on-point. I know our characters really haven’t interacted much, but I’m not exaggerating when I say I always smile when I see you on my dashboard or especially in my notifs.

@kyril-hphm -- Kyril Vasiley, of course! Carey’s bb bear!! Your art never fails to put a smile on my face -- your love for your characters and for your art always comes through, and it’s always so charming.

@brothergrimm71 -- Septimus Crowe, AKA the biggest bad-ass in the whole of HPHM MC’s, I’m not taking any arguments at this time. We don’t really interact much, but I always love see anything Septimus-related on my dashboard. <3

I love how her relationship with Rath has such realistic issues. I love the dynamics within her family. I love the way you’ve characterized Jacob Silver (Jacob’s Angels unite!!). Not to mention your awesome art that shows all of that off so wonderfully!

@angellazull -- Angelo Lancaster. Angel is the purest thing and I absolutely love all of his relationships, from his romance with Penny to his friendships with other MC’s like Kyril, Elaiza, and Roger. Your art is also really, really gorgeous too! Your use of color is exquisite.

@larg04 -- Dusty Emerald. Your level of talent, just...blows me away. Seriously. Your art is always perfect, and I always love learning more about Dusty. Excuse me while I gab a bit about some of this gameplay stuff in context with my girl Carewyn’s story. XD

So the side quest ISN’T including Andre after all?? THANK GOD! I DON’T HAVE TO MAKE CAREWYN REJECT MY POOR BOY, THANK FRIGGIN’ GOODNESS. 😭😭😭

So okay -- in my version of events for Carewyn, Carey and Andre dated in fourth and most of fifth year before breaking up after the All-Wizard Tournament. They’ve stayed on good terms despite this, but with the info circulating that Andre was being put back on the roster of possible date options, I was so devastated thinking about how -- to the game -- Carewyn has been nothing but loyal to Andre, and yet I’d already prepared myself not to pick him again, since I see Carewyn and Andre as exes now. THANK GOD I WON’T HAVE TO BREAK HIS HEART. THANK YOU, JAM CITY. I know other people who wanted to date Andre won’t be happy, but...from a purely selfish position, I thank you for not making me hurt my precious Style Wizard.

Uh, Andre? Have you forgotten you’re talking to the fashionista Mama Bear? Who’s also totally ace/pan even if she hasn’t come to the point when she can define herself that way? 😏

Awwww. Particularly sweet, considering these are two exes who partially bonded over their shared love of fashion. 💚💙

Never let it be said that Carewyn isn’t a deathly loyal little bugger, when it comes to her romantic relationships. She may be very happy on her own without a relationship, to the point that post-Hogwarts she’s a total workaholic with little interest in “looking for love” -- but when she picked Andre, she stuck with him for the long haul.
