A special popable collab cafe to celebrate the Pretty Series 10th anniversary in Korea will be held from October 7 to November 19.
(If you wondering why Aira isn’t here, it seems it’s because the Korean Pretty Rhythm arcade game started with Dear my Future and not Aurora Dream although the anime was dubbed)

The beginner's guide to the Pretty Series
With the recent announcement of the new Pretty Series installment titled Himitsu no AiPri, it's about time the Pretty Series returned after over a year since the Waccha PriMagi! series finale. In celebration of the newest installment, let's take a quick history lesson about the Pretty series.
Tumblr media
The Pretty Rhythm Saga (2010-2014) - The Pretty Series saga began on July 15, 2010 with the arcade game titled Pretty Rhythm Mini Skirt. Made by Takara Tomy and developer SynSophia, this arcade game pits players in the role of Prism Stars, performing Prism Jumps, and collecting Prism Stones.
While the one that started it all made a slow start, the folks from Takara Tomy wanted to do more with the Pretty Rhythm saga, and with that, a TV anime titled Pretty Rhythm Aurora Dream was made. Aired in TV Tokyo on April 9, 2011, for 51 episodes, this anime is the fruit of Japan-Korea collaboration thanks to Japan's Tatsunoko Production and South Korea's Dong Woo Animation. The TV anime is all about Aira, Rizumu, and Mion in their quest to take on the prestigious Prism Queen Cup.
As Aira Harune's journey to become Prism Queen is completed, Mia Ageha takes the baton as the star of the next Pretty Rhythm story; Dear My Future. Aired in TV Tokyo on April 7, 2012, for 51 episodes, Dear My Future centers on the rivalry between Prizmmy☆ and the K-Pop group PURETTY. Believe it or not, there are real-life versions of the groups as seen in the anime. There's even a live-action segment featuring Prizmmy☆ as well.
As Mia Ageha's road to Grateful Symphonia is well and truly over, Naru Ayase steps to the spotlight in the third and final chapter of the Pretty Rhythm saga, titled Rainbow Live. Aired in TV Tokyo on April 6, 2013, it features an original storyline unlike the previous two. It's about Naru, An, and Ito, who are working together at the Prism Stone Shop while trying to take good care of a mysterious girl named Rinne.
Although the Pretty Rhythm saga ended, the story continues with the KING OF PRISM spinoff films featuring male characters from the Pretty Rhythm saga. They even got a 2019 anime show as well showcasing the rise of the boys who would be Septentrion.
The PriPara saga (2014-2018, 2021~) After the end of the Pretty Rhythm saga,  the folks of Takara Tomy prepped up what it seems to be the second generation of the Pretty series. It's called PriPara and it aired on TV Tokyo in the Summer of 2014 and lasted for three seasons, four if you count Idol Time PriPara of course. This anime series centers on the life and times of Laala Manaka, a little girl who wants to be the best PriPara idol. Together with Mirei Minami and Sophy Hojo, they became SoLaMi Smile and they fought their way against the best idol teams of PriPara, especially Dressing Pafe consisting of Dorothy, Reona, and Sion, Tricolore, and Gaarmageddon, among many others. PriPara is a huge win for the people behind it and such success prompted the show to spawn four movies and outrageous merchandising rights.
In the spring of 2017, the next chapter of PriPara begins with three new main characters penning the final pages of this saga. Titled Idol Time PriPara, it's all about Yui Yumekawa, whose fateful encounter with Laala Manaka changed everything following an accident. With Nino Nijiiro and Michiru Kouda joining alongside, the MY☆DREAM trio made the best closure to this saga.
Although the PriPara TV series is finished, the story continues with Idol Land PriPara. First announced in December 2020, it was originally slated to be released in the spring of 2021 until it became subject to long gestation and delayed launch dates. It was released on August 17, 2023. It is the second official PriPara app game after the defunct PriPuz puzzle app game. This app game also features an original anime series set moments after the events of Idol Time PriPara. It introduces new characters such as Amari Katasumi, Mario, and Pololo, among others.
The Kiratto PriChan years (2018-2021) - Aired in TV Tokyo since April 2018 for three seasons, Kiratto PriChan is set in a world where fame comes from social media just like in the real world. It's about a group of girls who called themselves the Miracle☆Kiratts who are striving to become the best PriChan idols above the rest. For three seasons, we watched Miracle Kiratts taking on big challenges such as heated competition with rival teams such as Meltic StAr and Ring Marry, the jewel idol competition, saving the world, the road to the Queens Grand Prix, and saving the world...again, while they do what they do best; showcasing the world that they're the best PriChan sensations ever known.
PriMagi (2021-2022) - Waccha PriMagi! is the fourth installment of the Pretty Series that revolves around the lives of Primagistas striving to become the best of the best. The show is about Matsuri Hibino, a middle-schooler who dreams of being the best just like her idol, the legendary Jennifer Sumire Sol.
AiPri - After over a year of void, the Pretty Series has returned with the newest installment coming to TV Tokyo this April 2024. Titled Himitsu no AiPri, the new series stars Minori Fujidera as Himari Aozora and Sae Hiratsuka as Mitsuki Hoshikawa. For the first time in Pretty Series, the animation sequences were provided by OLM, the studio behind the Pokemon and Yo-Kai Watch anime series, while South Korea's Dongwoo A&E returned to cooperate for it.
Tumblr media
Welcome back, Pretty Series! The world can't wait for the franchise's comeback show this April.

Hirogaru Sky! Precure Episode 34 Review - Sudden Battamonda Focus
For an anime that has villains, the villains for this anime don’t really have much focus unless it’s for the routinely formula of summoning Ranborgs. This episode gives an unexpected character some focus: Battamonda. We never got to see what happened to him after Episode 23 and it turns out that he’s been living in Sorashido City and struggling to get by as he works at a construction site. He still swears to get revenge on the Precures, but he’s been reduced to a comical character. However, while Battamonda is a big focus, the main character of this episode is actually Mashiro.
Tumblr media
Mashiro’s doing well for herself with the whole picture book author thing. She even goes to libraries and reads her stories to kindergarteners. While her Princess series is quite popular (she even made ten volumes!), during one of her story times at the library, a little boy gets distracted and leaves the building during the middle of it after calling her story boring. This gets Mashiro into a bit of a slump. She knows her stories are more suitable for little girls, she tries to make something that’s suitable for both genders, but cannot get an idea; she even gets a bit depressed about this whole picture book artist thing. Although Ageha tries to cheer her up by saying that some kids prefer moving around rather than sitting and listening, I do like how that comment doesn’t make everything better for Mashiro. This whole ordeal of Mashiro’s slump is actually something I really enjoy seeing. Because I am also a writer, there are instances where I get slumps. I’ve gotten so many writers’ block in the past; it’s reflected with how many times I’ve rewritten my story, Lavender Eyes (you can read it on Tapas, Royal Road, Webnovel and Wattpad). Even for my other story, Boundaries, I’ve gotten writer’s block with it too, especially when I was wanting to make a full-length story for it and couldn’t figure out how. It’s all about finding the motivation to continue. For Mashiro, Battamonda’s unexpected comments help motivate her to realize that all of her stories cannot be loved by others, therefore she’s still going to write what she wants because she enjoys doing it—she even makes it her goal to become a picture book artist for real.
While Battamonda was very impactful in his debut, he did start to get a bit one note throughout his stint and only his evil personality showed off again during episodes 22 and 23. Afterwards, he was MIA for the third act of the story until now. I do wonder why Battamonda didn’t get as much of a focus as a character like how Kabaton did; speaking of which, Kabaton shows up in this episode as Battamonda’s next-door neighbor, but they both aren’t aware of that fact. During the first arc, Kabaton was full of personality. While he was a villain and did dastardly things, he was gross, loved to eat and even had a friend with the oden cart man; he even took his loss against Cure Sky with grace after she rescued him from getting killed by Empress Underg.
In regards to Battamonda, I can’t believe it took until Episode 34 to finally get some depths into him as a character. He’s childish and petty as he was shown in the second arc, but he’s also too scared to return back to the Underg Empire because of the harsh punishment. That’s why he stayed in Sorashido City as a wage slave. What makes Battamonda shine a lot is the fact that his negative behavior was due to him not having anyone support him. Hopefully, Battamonda will start redeeming himself now that Mashiro has given words of kind gratitude towards him. Overall, I did enjoy seeing him again as he made the most hilarious and craziest faces that brought a smile to my face.
Speaking of villains, Minoton is even more one-note than Battamonda as he gets cast aside and Skearhead becomes the new villain for Part 3 (or are we in Part 4 now?). Skearhead is now the one making Ranborgs, but since he’s a much stronger foe, his Ranborgs aren’t even Ranborgs; they’re Kyoborgs! Where will this arc head off now that Skearhead has taken the reigns?
Overall, I am still a bit confused why Battamonda gets this depth all of a sudden. Is it because he’s popular with the fanbase? Will the villains help out with the final battle? Is Minoton living in the rundown apartment like the other two subordinates? Before I end this review, I have to admit something shameful: human Battamonda is hot. Okay, what are your thoughts about this episode?

Pretty Rhythm Rainbow Live: Kirakira My☆Design (AD+DMF) Chapter 2 English Translation
didnt proofread at alllll. this chapters unlocked after ch 15 of the rl story. also i kinda gave up on momo puns (though i did sneak a rly horrendous pluot pun in there. like its BAD)
Chapter 2: The Evolving Seventh Coords
Momo: Momomomo… Where are we!? This must be a peachy sweet dream… Yes, definitely a dream!!!
??? (Mia): Kyahaha! This pink youkai is kinda funny!
Momo: I… I’m not a youkai!!!
??? (Mia): Ahaha! You’re a riot! Hey, do some more funny stuff!!
Momo: Grrr–!! You won’t trick me into joking around! There’s more important things to deal with!!!
??? (Mia): Kyahahahaha!!!
??? (Hye-in): Wait a sec, Mia~!!! What are you doing? Why’d you suddenly run off like that?
Mia: Hye-in, look at this! I found a pink youkai!
Hye-in: A… youkai???
Mia: It’s so cute, right? Though its eyes are creeping me out a bit…
Momo: Mo… momo!?
Mia: It’s super funny too, it talks and everything! C’mon, say something funny!
Momo: I’m not a youkai!!! I’m a penguin, Momo!!!
Hye-in: A penguin? Huh, now that I think about it, she does look kinda like Penguin-sensei…
Mia: Huh? You think so???
Hye-in: …Which reminds me, what happened to this girl on the floor? Hey, Mia, you didn’t… kaboom into her, did you?
Mia: No way! She was already on the ground when I got here! Hellooooo~? Are you okay?
Hye-in: …… Oh, phew, she doesn’t seem injured.
Momo: Who are you people, anyway!?
Hye-in: Hm? Oh, I’m Hye-in, it’s nice to meet you!
Mia: Hehe… I am not so insignificant as to need one of these “names” like you people. …After all, you totally know who I am already, right~?
Choice: Oh, gosh! I can’t believe it! You’re… uh… who, again??? / Of course I know!
Mia: Babaaaaaang!!! For real!? For real for real!? You seriously don’t know who I am!? I can’t believe this!!! Waaaaah!!! Listen well then, philistine! I am Pretty Top’s premier Prism Star… Ageha Mia!!! And of course I’m number oooooone!!!
Penguin-sensei: Heeeey! You, the insufferable girl over there!
Mia: Eeeek!!! Penguin-sensei!?!?
Penguin-sensei: Do you really think it’s appropriate to introduce yourself by acting like some kind of narcissistic raging bull!?
Mia: I’m not narcissistic! Owieowieowie,,, ouch!
Penguin-sensei: I thought you’d’ve grown up a bit now that that Grateful Symphonia business was over with…Oh!? Wait, you two… You were… HUUUUH!? Did you follow me here? Hmmmm… Well, you were a great help last time! You there! The girl with the sparkling heart! You put on a pretty impressive show last time! Impressive enough for me to scout you!
Mia: Wh-wha!? This girl’s… a Prism Star…?
Momo: Excuse me… momo… Um… are you… really Penguin-sensei… momo…?
Penguin-sensei: Hm? You wouldn’t happen to be… from Prism World…?
Momo: Y-yes…!!!
Penguin-sensei: Wh-why are you crying all of a sudden!?
Momo: I beg of you! Please don’t let this affect my evaluation! Don’t have me impeached! I can’t survive without access to sweets!
Penguin-sensei: Excuse me!? What in the world are you blabbering on about!?
Momo: Huh? You didn’t come here to sentence me to a life without baked goods?
Penguin-sensei: Of course not! I’ve had my share of mess-ups in your world, too… Which are of course secret!!! They’re juicy secrets too, like–
Mia: Aaaand that’s enough! Stop talking!!!
Penguin-sensei: Gaaaah! The conversation was just getting good! Why are you interrupting!?
Mia: Heh heh heh… If you want to hear the secrets… you’ll have to put on a Prism Show that’ll make my heart skip a beat!
Hye-in: Whaaat? Why should she have to do that?
Mia: Because! Hearing a secret without earning it first is unforgivable! Soooo… if you really are a Star, you should be able to get Penguin-sensei’s approval with your own shine!
Hye-in: But… isn’t this all just so you can see a Prism Show, Mia?
Mia: No no no! That’s totally not what this is about! There’s a very good reason for this! And that reason is… um… super important and real…!
Penguin-sensei: …So it’s like that, hm? You insufferable girl, you!
Mia: Shut upppp! Stop complaining so they can hear the secret sooner… It’s time to start the Prism Show! Kabooooom!!!
(prism show)
Mia: Woooooah!!! That was insaaaaane!!! Your sparkle was intense! But, um… where’d that guitar come from? It was so cool!
Hye-in: Amazing! You must do great Shows like this a lot, huh? What kind of lessons are you doing!? Are you training your abs? Your back? Doing marathons!?
Mia: Calm down there, Hye-in… Before all of these questions, ya gotta ask… Hey! Tell us your name!!! …Gotcha… Player… Player, alright! I’ll remember that from now on! Nice to meetcha, Player! That was a great show! I think you’ve earned the right to listen to Penguin-sensei’s secret to your heart’s content!
Penguin-sensei: I don’t have to wait for permission from an insufferable girl like you!
Mia: Eeeek!!!
Penguin-sensei: Seriously! We could’ve had this over and done with by now… Well, Momo. I went to your world to find out the secret of the Seventh Coords!
Momo: The Seventh Coords!?
Penguin-sensei: Yes, the Seventh Coords… Once the seven Brands come together… Each Brands representative dress, the Seventh Coords, will evolve!!!
Momo: Evolve…! I’m speachless…! So the Seventh Coords can really change!?
Penguin-sensei: Upon evolving, a strong link will develop within a certain dress… the Rainbow Wedding!!! If the seven Seventh Coords evolve, the Rainbow Wedding will undergo a miraculous change. …Momo, you already know about this part, right?
Momo: Of- of course I do…! My knowledge of this is peachy keen… naturally…
Penguin-sensei: Well, of course you’d know that! You have Rinne in your world, after all! …Hm? Speaking of Rinne, where did she go? Weren’t you together?
Momo: Ah… momomomomomomo!!! I forgot about something important! Ri… Rinne’s… gone missing!!!
Penguin-sensei: WHAAAAAT!?!? How could you let that happen!?
Momo: This is terrible! I compluoteley forgot about her!
Penguin-sensei: Oh, this is terrible! We’re dommed, we’re doomed!!!
Momo: What’ll we do!!!
???: Oh? What’s wrong, Penguin-sensei?
Hye-in: Ah… that voice is…
Mia: Harune Airaaaaaaa!!!
Aira: Teeheehee. You all seem happylucky today!
