And this game of lost and found
Is goin' somewhere
Or it’s goin' nowhere

ok so I didn’t start my dress project before my deadline for beginning, but thankfully I found a dress at uniqlo that I really love—but I’ll love it even more with some tweaks.
and thankfully they’re tweaks that don’t trigger so much procrastinating, which is great.
I did get an amazing idea of something that would be super cool to do, but I didn’t want to spend another 80+ dollars on tulle and supplies just to fuck up the intense amount of maths that particular petticoat idea would require. so instead I’m going with another idea; which is to buy a second one of the dress and then take the top part off so that I can layer the skirts.
the goal of this is ultimately to lower the waist the original dress has, and add some volume to the skirt.
here is the dress in question:
though I bought it in navy blue.
and as you can see, it’s supposed to be quite oversized but I’m a small fat grappling with straight sizing that runs small, here, so it’s a little tighter fit (though I ended up buying a size up from the one I tried on)
so goals for the adjustments are
1. shorten sleeves or find a way to charmingly keep them rolled up. because the long sleeves are a sensory no for me, and I like the way they look rolled up.
2. lower, or rather extend the waistline in a way that is more flattering to my body shape and isn’t too difficult—and I do think I have a method for that which will work well.
3. layer the skirt and add a little floof. I want to get the sort of romantic layered chiffon effect we’ve seen around a lot on the runway thanks to Maria Grazia Chiuri. So we’ll have the two skirts, and then I want to hopefully add one layer of cream coloured bridal grade tulle. I hope I have enough, so I’ll have to see. grey tulle would be better, but I don’t want to have to buy it. but I think cream will work nicely. If I can incorporate a hint of lace I will, but I don’t think I have the right kind of weight, and it’s not a priority.
4. if I have time, I think the littlest bit of embroidery on the shoulder yoke would go down extremely well, but I do want to make some silk flowers for my hair and I’m helping my dad with his blazer so we’ll see how we go for time.

This is one REALLY needed some retouches. What an improvement.
I made the vignette bright instead of dark. Made the sun rays much fainter. Made everything less orange and improved the contrast.
