With Halloween coming around in the US as well as the Day of The Dead celebrations, I was wondering if you the Creator does anything special. And as prof. does your island get an influx of ghost/dark type activity? I’m assuming they really enjoy the season like the ones around my home. Even my Pokémon choose to dress up and get poke candy with a few of their ghost friends when they visit this time of year.
Actually yes we do! We have celebration days for visitors, at this time of the year we hold our yearly autumn fate. you come and visit, you and your Pokemon can pick your own pumpkins, carve them at one of our Halloween stations, you can take them home or leave them some pace nice on the island. Lots of trainers from all over come, we get big crowds, families, the elderly, we hold races, battle tournaments, costume contests. There’s alwasy stalls of local foods, vendors, craftspeople selling trinkets stones, held items, unique clothing and hand made jewellery. Candy apple central, smell of popcorn and candyfloss. We also do a spooky ghost tour on the grave island off the coast of us, it’s where we put Pokemon to rest, ghost types love the company this time of year and lots of kids go and take part in the scary trip around the place. It’s full of old headstones and now some new, and we restored an old building that was derelict where we got there, showing off items uncovered while turning the land to a reserve, like a little history lesson, we display them with heritage info, should no one locally want the items for historic research. Around the graveyard and buildings is thick pine forest, steeped in fog most of the time. This whole festival gives the ghost types a great chance to meet potential new friends, and also to use their little devious hands for troublemaking, something a lot of them love. We take bookings for ride tours around the main island, you can use your own partner Pokemon, or borrow one of ours from the stables, it’s led by trained guides, with plenty to learn and see.
In the evenings we do big pots of chilli and stew and set up bonfires near the designated campgrounds. We don’t mind folks staying, partaking in live music, comedy, dance, and various talents from the local areas. There’s first aid tents all around for the event, we don’t have a liquor licence on site, so bring your own drinks if you plan on having a bit of a party. We do ask visitors to take photos of Pokemon without the flash on, and to put their trash in bins and designated areas, so we can recycle as much as possible. The Pokemon on site aren’t for capture, so please refrain from doing so. The last rule is to stay on the south side of the island, not going past the very well signposted 11ft warning fence that protects you all from the north side Pokemon. They do not like people and should be left well alone during the festivities. We usually guard the fence heavily during this time so don’t worry, it’s not possible to stray across without realising.
We do these events four times annually, usually one in April, one in July, then October, and finally December. We do this to encourage adoption, community, and to bring people together. It also helps to make some money, help small business owners to do the same, and to pull visitors to the lab and it’s facilities. The more folks know about us, the better our funding is, so we can help even more Pokemon and trainers.
