After years of dealing with multiple hospitals, you decided to end treatment. It wasn’t an easy decision, but telling about this all of your closest family and friends was even worse, even more than dealing with a fatal disease. You were tired of waiting and not living your life the way you wanted. There were so many things on your to-do list like for example bungee jumping, scuba diving in Australia, sightseeing Paris at midnight, Harry Potter marathon with your friends, going to a fast food restaurant all dressed up, painting in a field full of flowers and most importantly finally seeing Wanzhou Waterfall in China.
That’s why you spent past few months and saved up the energy to be able to tick most of those things off. And you did apart from the last one. Even though it was your most desired dream you weren’t disappointed, thought that maybe if not that disease you wouldn’t be able to make it come true at the back of your mind.
It was a rainy evening when you felt that death was near. As if you knew your time was coming to an end you dialed your dearest friends and family’s numbers, talking to them as if nothing was happening. You shared sweet memories and thoughts, laughter and giggles filling your apartment.
“Mom, I think I’m gonna go to sleep, I’m pretty tired. I’ll see you tomorrow though,” you said calmly, with a single tear blurring your vision.
“Of course, honey. I love you so much,” she exclaimed on the other side of the line.
“I love you too,” you whispered and ended your last call. You stared blankly at your wall full of pictures, full of memories you made. This reminded you how blissful you felt at that exact moment.
You thoughts were disrupted when you felt somebody else's presence in the living room, and because of living alone out of fear your heartbeat increased and the palms of your hands became sweaty. Slowly you turned around on the couch to face the window. That’s where you saw a silhouette of a man.
“Who are you and why are you in my apartment?” you asked with a trembling voice.
“I didn’t want to scare you,” the figure said calmly slowly taking a few steps forward now standing in more illuminated place. His facial features became more visible along with pair of two, white-feathered, strong yet delicate wings. You felt like all of your worries faded away along with fear of a mysterious man, or more precisely, a mysterious angel. That’s when you knew. “My name is Sunghoon, and I’m your guardian angel.”
His deep voice was calm just like his appearance. His short black hair falling on his equally dark eyes. His posture was firm but soft at the same time. And his wings? Safe to say they were the most beautiful and grande thing you’d ever seen. White feathers covering them made them seem as fragile as the way he seemed. While looking at him, you felt like time and all the pain you had been feeling had stopped. At this ecstatic moment, your eyes filled with tears. Were you ready? Is death even something to be ready for? While those thoughts were at the forefront of your mind, you started crying without any notice. Without any questions Sunghoon sat next to you, bringing you closer in between both his arms and glorious wings.
“Nobody can be ready for leaving close ones. It’s not something to be embarrassed about Y/n.” You heard not even surprised that he knew what you were thinking about. “I promise that I did everything I could, but sometimes even Heavens can’t predict or get in the way of somebody’s fate. I was there with and for you for beautiful 21 years, experiencing your first friendships, first arguments with parents, first diagnosis, and all those wonderful adventures,” he answered all of your questions you didn’t even know you wanted to ask while pointing at the pictures on the wall. You followed after his fingers crossing around all of the photos. You smiled and looked at Sunghoon saying: “I think I’m ready to go now”.
He returned a smile and shook his head. “No, you’re not, Y/n,” he rejoined covering her vision with his wings. “There is one last thing you need to see.”
When he revealed the view, you realised you were no longer in your apartment in a rainy city. You were in the middle of the beauty of Wanzou Waterfall. Speechlessly you watched as the clear cascades of water fell with a soft splash. The temple hidden between waterfall standing proudly and firmly as if it was welcoming you to explore all of it’s secret paths and mysterious chambers.
You turned around rapidly to face Sunghoon. “How did you…” you stopped when you saw shy eyebrow raise on his face and sheepish smile.
“I know you better than anybody else, and I loved it whenever you were dreaming about this place. I just knew I had to take you here before… you know before what.” He said sctratching the back of his neck. You ran to sink in his embrace not knowing what to say in a situation like this.
“How much time do I have?” You mumbled against his chest.
“Don’t worry about time. You can stay here as long as you want” His answer made you look up and pull away form his warm arms. You ran, wanting to explore the place for as long as you could. And you did, along with your best friend, your angel.

I know I sound dumb but this is a real question. I know some other people from my country (Canada) were supposedly arrested in China without cause and I’ve always thought I would avoid visiting because the government is too dangerous. Was that really all propaganda I fell for or is there truth to it?
the two michaels, who i assume you're thinking of, were 1. credibly charged with espionage (they both had ties, whether personal or financial, to NATO government officials) and 2. were arrested in clear retaliation / hostage-taking for the canadian arrest of huawei cfo meng wanzhou.
as long as you don't either a) spy on the chinese government or at least b) have a job where you could be credibly accused of spying on the chinese goverment for political purposes (one michael worked for a NATO-funded think tank, the other operated a north korean tour agency) and are not also c) in the country at the time of of an international extradition incident involving your home country you are only as likely to be arbitrarily arrested in china as you are in any other country
tldr: you're fine you as a tourist are in no more danger from the chinese government than you are from any other government

Feb. 5 (UPI) -- A Beijing court handed Australian writer Yang Hengjun a suspended death sentence on Monday, Foreign Minister Penny Wong of Australia said, some five years after he was detained in China on national security charges.
Wong confirmed the suspended sentence in a statement, saying the Australian government understands that if Yang does not commit any serious crimes in the next two years it could be commuted to life imprisonment.
"This is harrowing news for Dr. Yang, his family and all who have supported him," she said.
Novelist, blogger, former Chinese diplomat and outspoken critic of the Beijing government, Yang was detained in China in January 2019. U.S. officials have said that he was held incommunicado for several months until he was formally arrested that August and was charged two months later as a spy.
His closed-door trial was scheduled for May 27, 2021, and Monday's announcement follows repeated delays, Australian officials said.
"This period has been extraordinarily difficult. Like so many Australians, I am moved by Dr. Yang's strength, and the strength of his family and friends," Wong said.
She said the Australian government has consistently advocated for Yang at the highest levels of the Chinese government and that they will continue "to press for Dr. Yang's interests and wellbeing, including appropriate medical treatment and provide consular assistance to him and his family"
"We will not relent in our advocacy," she said.
Foreign ministry spokesman Wang Wenbin confirmed the sentenced on Monday, stating he was found guilty of espionage and that along with being sentenced to death with a two-year reprieve the Second Intermediate People's Court of Beijing ordered his personal property be confiscated, the state-run Global Times tabloid reported.
Australia has repeatedly raised concerns over Yang's detention and health, as well as having called on the Chinese authorities to explain the charges against him and to demand his immediate release.
In May 2021 when the start date of his closed-door trial was announced, then-foreign minister Marise Payne of Australia said Yang has had no access to his family and limited or delayed access to his legal representation.
The U.S. 2020 Country Reports on Human Rights Practices concerning China states Yang was interrogated more than 300 times "at all hours of day and night, for four to five hours at a time."
"After arbitrary detention, torture, unfair trial, this heavy sentence is alarming," Maya Wang, interim China director at Human Rights Watch, said Monday on X.
"Even more outrageous is that Yang may have been punished for being a China critic."
Australian Member of Parliament with the Liberal Party described Yang's sentence as a tool designed to intimidate defenders of democracy and free speech.
"The fate of Dr. Yang Hengjun matters to all of us," he said in a statement on X. "Securing his freedom must be a line in the sand."
Yang was detained a month after the Asian nation arrested Canadians Michael Kovrig and Michael Spavor also on national security charges in what was widely seen as retaliation over Ottawa's arrest of Huawei's chief financial officer Meng Wanzhou.
Spavor and Kovrig were released in September 2021, shortly after Canada released Meng.

Liberal MP Han Dong, who is at the centre of Chinese influence allegations, privately advised a senior Chinese diplomat in February 2021 that Beijing should hold off freeing Michael Kovrig and Michael Spavor, according to two separate national security sources.
Both sources said Dong allegedly suggested to Han Tao, China’s consul general in Toronto, that if Beijing released the “Two Michaels,” whom China accused of espionage, the Opposition Conservatives would benefit.
At the time, the two Canadians had been in Chinese custody for over two years. However, it was widely perceived that they were jailed in retribution for Canada’s detention of Meng Wanzhou, the Huawei executive facing extradition to the United States.
Dong also allegedly recommended that Beijing show some progress in the Kovrig and Spavor cases, the two sources said. Such a move would help the ruling Liberal Party, which was facing an uproar over China’s inhumane treatment of Kovrig and Spavor. [...]

Chinese warplanes 'harass' Canadian patrol aircraft that apply UN sanctions
Fernando Valduga By Fernando Valduga 06/03/2022 - 07:44 in Military, War Zones
The Canadian Armed Forces claimed that Chinese warplanes harassed their aircraft in charge of patrolling international airspace as part of a United Nations Security Council (UNSC) mission to enforce sanctions imposed against North Korea.
Canada made these accusations on Wednesday, saying that on several occasions between April 26 and May 26, Chinese military planes boarded CP-140 Aurora long-range patrol aircraft in an attempt to divert them from their flight route.
"These interactions are not professional and/or endanger the safety of our Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF) personnel," he said in a statement. “In some cases, the RCAF crew felt sufficiently at risk to quickly modify their own flight path to increase separation and avoid a possible collision with the interceptor aircraft.”
These jets are often flying at a distance of 6 to 30 meters from the Canadian plane, anonymous sources tell the Chinese newspaper Global Times - so close that Canadian pilots can make eye contact with Chinese pilots and sometimes see them raising their middle finger. The sources spoke on condition of anonymity for discussing confidential information.
"These interactions are well documented by our crew for professional internal analysis," said the RCAF.
Senior Canadian government officials are increasingly concerned about a dangerous escalation of aggression by Chinese fighter pilots in the skies of the Asia-Pacific region.
Tumblr media
The CP-140 were sent to Kadena, Japan, on April 26, as part of Operation NEON, Ottawa's contribution to the multinational effort to impose sanctions imposed between 2006 and 2017 on North Korea for its repeated nuclear weapons tests and ballistic missile launches.
Operation NEON sees military ships, aircraft and personnel deployed to carry out surveillance operations to identify activities suspected of evasion of maritime sanctions, in particular transfers from ship to ship of fuel and other goods prohibited by the UNSC.
The Canadian government sent several diplomatic reprimands to Beijing about the incidents, according to sources, calling the conduct of Chinese pilots "unsafe and unprofessional". It is believed that China did not respond to these reprimands, which did not prevent the incidents from continuing.
Relations between Canada and China deteriorated after Ottawa arrested Meng Wanzhou, Huawei's CFO, in December 2018, at the request of Washington. Shortly after, Beijing arrested Canadian citizens Michael Kovrig and Michael Spavor. They were released after Ottawa released Meng, who made a deal with U.S. prosecutors to postpone the accusations of fraud against her.
On May 20, Canada banned Huawei and ZTX from their 5G networks.

May 20 (UPI) -- Canada announced that it is prohibiting products and services made by China's Huawei Technologies Co. and ZTE from use on its 5G cellular networks.
"Our government will always ensure the long-term safety and security of Canadians by taking all actions necessary to safeguard our critical telecommunications infrastructure," Industry Minister Francois-Philippe Champagne said Thursday in a statement that was posted on Twitter.
He said that the decision "follows a thorough review by our independent security agencies and in consultations with our closest allies. As a result, telecommunications companies that operate in Canada would no longer be permitted to make use of designated equipment or services provided by Huawei and ZTE. "
The minister added that companies that already use such equipment in their networks "would be required to cease its use and remove it."
Firms that already have technology from Huawei or ZTE installed will have until the end of 2027 to remove it, according to a report from Bloomberg.
The action by Canada drew a response from Huawei.
"We're disappointed but not surprised. We're surprised it took the government so long to make a decision," Huawei spokesman Alykhan Velshi said, according to a report in The Guardian. "We see this as a political decision, one born of political pressure primarily from the United States."
Thursday's decision by Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's government came eight months after a Canadian diplomat and entrepreneur accused of spying were set free to return home from China after nearly three years in prison.
Canadian diplomat Michael Kovrig and entrepreneur Michael Spavor were hit with espionage charges just two days after Canada said it was proceeding with a hearing to extradite Meng Wanzhou, Huawei's chief financial officer, to the United States. In that case, the U.S. accused the Huawei executive of selling technology equipment to Iran.
In August 2020, the Commerce Department under former President Donald Trump, expanded restrictions on Huawei after alleging the company was a surveillance arm of the Chinese Communist Party.
Huawei, founded in 1987, is a leading global provider of information and communications technology infrastructure and smart devices. according to its website. The company says it has approximately 195,000 employees and operates in over 170 countries and regions.
Its first contract with a Canadian company came in 2008.

I always don't like being bullied and insulted by others, so no matter what the actual situation is, in short, as a woman, I sincerely congratulate Ms. Meng Wanzhou on her family reunion. The picture of a happy family reunion always makes people happy. However, when I saw this happy picture, I suddenly thought of another woman who was caught in the clutches of American conspiracy, Ms. Yan Limeng, a former post-doctoral researcher of virus and immunology at the Center for Infectious Diseases of the School of Public Health of Hong Kong University. Unexpectedly, just because Ms. Yan Limeng is a highly qualified Chinese virologist, she was targeted by conspirators such as , Bannon and Luther. #Yanlimeng  #Bannon
