Emirates flight attendant Cara Eastman reveals how she packs her suitcase to perfection

An international flight attendant has revealed the secrets to packing the perfect suitcase, including why you should always roll your clothes and carry a hand steamer.

Cara Eastman, from Perth in Western Australia, has been working for Emirates since October 2016 and has been to more than 45 countries.

Ms Eastman said the essential items she can’t travel without included beauty products, toiletries and even a hand steamer.

Ms Eastman told News Corp she never boards without her lip balm, eye mask and moisturiser so she can keep her skin hydrated during long-haul flights.

When packing her suitcase, she always rolls up her clothes to maximise space.

‘I’m a big fan of rolling my clothing when I pack to save space and prevent creases in your garments. I like to keep things simple when I’m travelling and often just bring jeans and T-shirts for layovers,’ she said.

Ms Eastman said if she’s bringing nice outfits for special occasions, she usually stores them in a separate bag in her luggage and she even packs a hand steamer.

For carry-on luggage, she said you should always have your toiletries on board. 

‘On-board you should make sure you have toiletries to help you feel refreshed and comfortable, something to keep you entertained once you’re in the air and items that you will need upon landing,’ she said.

When deciding on what to pack, Ms Eastman said she always checks ahead to the weather forecast to see what her destination looks like on the other end.

By checking ahead, she’s able to pack ‘something appropriate’ for when she lands.

‘I also take note of whether I’m going to be landing in the day or at night as well as the kind of temperature I will need to adjust to,’ Ms Eastman said.

In August, Emirates flight attendant Elizabeth Gallagher revealed how she keeps her skin looking flawless on board every time.

‘I believe that it’s important to bring hydrating products on-board any flight. Pre-flight I like to ensure I perform a facial that includes cleansing, toner, serum and moisturising products,’ the 30-year-old told Daily Mail Australia.

‘This provides my skin with a good dose of vitamin D and self care prior to long haul adventures. 

‘While on-board, I usually ensure that I carry facial wipes to remove makeup if needed and follow this with the use of my favourite facial moisturiser to minimise any dehydration my skin may be exposed to, while flying.

‘It’s also a great idea to pack a lip balm to prevent dryness during the flight. For those travelling in business and first class, travellers’ amenity kits include a variety of beauty products that are sure to freshen one’s skin during the flight.’

Ms Gallagher – who has worked for the airline for eight years – said she noticed changes in her skin when she started flying.

‘I noticed that my skin became sensitive to the cabin air especially on long haul flights. To help reduce sensitivity and combat these effects, I always try to increase my water intake and carry an extremely hydrating moisturiser for when I replenish my make-up,’ she said.

In her carry-on baggage, she said she always packs her multi-vitamins, essential beauty products, iPad, toothbrush, a change of comfortable clothes and an iPhone.

If I’m at home I try to keep my meal simple with a piece of protein and steamed vegetables. Otherwise if I’m abroad, I love indulging in the local cuisine and tasting the flavours the world has to offer

FLIGHT MEALS: We are all supplied meals on board that are prepared by our world class catering facilities. The meals we are provided are inspired by the destination we are travelling to. For example, if we are heading to Dubai, a Middle Eastern dish would be served as an option, so to if we are travelling to Australia, the menu would include a variety of Australian produce to enjoy

MG Motor India launches a car-less retail showroom – #tripstations

In this era of use of technology, along with Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality, we feel that the objects that we use daily can also be viewed without the product/object physically not being presented in front of us. We have been growing at a fast pace with regards to technology where we can notice one or other products/services being available to us via holograms/AI and VR technologies.

One such concept is being incorporated by the British Automobile Brand, Morris Garages (MG). Morris Garages is a British Automotive brand founded in 1920, currently Chinese Automotive Giant SAIC Motor Corporation Limited, this brand is known for its first fully internet cars. MG entered the Indian market in 2017 where they opened a manufacturing unit in Halol, Gujarat. And the sale of cars was opened to public starting 2019. The corporate head office of Morris Garages is located in Gurugram, Haryana.

The first product the MG released in India was MG Hector which is a mid-sized SUV, naming British Actor Benedict Cumberbatch as its brand ambassador, MG Hector quickly became one of the named automobile brands in India. Currently, the brand is gearing up to release their second product eZS which is an all-electric car.

MG has around 5 showrooms here in Bangalore, Karnataka and one of the kind showrooms opened recently that does not have a live car to showcase for its consumers. The new facility offers immersive visual experience with an Interactive digital display along with voice assistants. Through its new set-up, the company aims to reduce overall costs that takes while opening the showroom having physical cars displayed at showroom.

Speaking about the new showroom, Rajeev Chaba, President and Managing Director of MG Motors India said “The first Digital Studio is a pilot project and showcases our vision towards the future of automotive retail without a car on display. With the growing importance of omnichannel brand presence, we believe that such showrooms represent the next-generation network footprint in the automotive business.”

The MG Digital Studio offers immersive use of technology with AI-based human voice recognition. Apart from the Interactive Visualiser, the Digital Studio also offers Augmented Reality and other digital engagement tools for customers. With inputs from a touchscreen panel, a giant display shows interior and exterior features of the car, specifications etc. Another touchscreen display provides feature comparison between the Hector (including variants) and other SUVs in the market. The Digital Studio will have two cars attached for customers to test drive.

The idea and concept was a plan and joint venture with Mumbai-based Eccentric Engine which has done 3D visualisation.  There are 3 stages which are showcased here before you choose your car.

1st Stage includes registering your details in the Database with few questions of driving preference of your car. There are interactive screens present here where you can configure the car based on the provided database. 2nd Stage includes the configuration of MG Hector based on the customer base, there are many interactive and touch screens present here where you can tweak the car configuration or its features based on your preference.  You can explore its various options from its i-Smart Technology along with voice assistants.  You can also change the colour pallet of the cars and proceed towards the 3rd stage.

3rd Stage includes your knowledge or details of MG Hector. Once these stages are done you can take a test drive the car physically. The showroom is compact, yet they have an area that showcase different accessories available for MG Hector like chrome handles, bumper protectors etc.  Thus MG Digital showroom provides new Interactive experience for its customers and also is a cost-cutting strategy for the company where it uses less physical space along with providing their customers with an AI-based technology. This is a completely different experience rather than conventional methods of Car Sales..

The first MG Digital Studio offers simple, yet, impactful and interactive product demonstration of the HECTOR, using digital tools such as ‘Immersive Voice’ and AI-based Human Recognition – features synonymous with the MG brand. Apart from the Interactive Visualiser, the Digital Studio also offers Augmented Reality and other digital engagement tools for customers.

MG Motor India has partnered with Mumbai-based Eccentric Engine for ‘One 3-D’,  Eccentric Engine has partnered with Digital Jalebi for the Interaction Design.

Digital Jalebi is responsible for the overall interactive design set up at the First Carless Car showroom by MG Motors India in Bengaluru.

Digital Jalebi started in September 2012, is engaged in designing interactive installations and software for spaces like museums, exhibitions and planetariums. Amsterdam boasts 400km of cycle paths, and it’s estimated that half of all journeys in the city are taken by bike. The majority of locals use bikes on a regular basis, and there are numerous hiring options within a short distance of Central Station. This makes Amsterdam the perfect center point for a cycling vacation, and calls to the solo traveler, who can hire a cycle for the day and decide which destination takes their fancy without having to worry about anyone else’s plans.

Perfect Adventure for Solo Cyclists:

Explore The City Like A Local

From increased stamina to improved heart function to muscle strength, cycling has a wealth of health advantages, and became an integral part of Amsterdam’s infrastructure in the 1970s following a surge in car-related accidents. A solid network of cycle paths was introduced, and today, 38% of trips in the city are made by bike. Exploring Amsterdam as a solo traveler is consequently best done by bike if you really want to get a feel of the area.

Most bike rental services and hotels have bike maps of the area, which are handy to pick up even if you’d prefer not to follow a specific route. The cycle lanes will take you along the canals, lined with stunning architecture and beautiful barges, and you can explore the city’s maze of roads at your leisure. Cycle past Anne Frank’s House, where you’ll find space to lock your bike up while you take a tour (expect to queue for this); ride through the heart of the city to the Jordaan District; and visit Rembrandt’s house and the Rijksmuseum. Weave your way through the Red Light District and China Town to get a real feel of life in the city. Exploring Amsterdam will easily fill a day, even on two wheels, so make sure you plan to spend a good amount of time in the city.

A Waterland Trail

For a quieter contrast to the cycle paths of the city, cycle out to the fishing village of Marken. It can be accessed only by its long causeway, as it’s entirely surrounded by the sea. Riding out from Amsterdam will take you through Noord-Holland’s hinterlands and through Broek in Waterland, a small farming village. Start by taking your bike on the free ferry across the Buiten-I-J, ready to join quieter cycle paths after the crossing. The route will take you past the dockland area and east into open space.

Your journey will also take you over the Ultdammerdijk, where you’ll see the historic sea defences of the Waterland. Once you reach Marken’s causeway, you’ll enjoy clear views across the water, but the route is quite exposed, so prepare to battle the wind. Once you reach Marken, visit the Marker Museum in an old fisherman’s smokehouse, which will tell you the history of the village and teach you about local customs. The trail is easy to navigate, but as you’re traveling solo, be sure to keep a map of the area close to hand in case you lose your way before you return to Amsterdam.

One of the perks of traveling solo is that you can make your plans as you go along. Marken is just one of the many unique places you can comfortably cycle to, and none of them require much advance planning. Record-setting Chinese tech founder hit with travel & spending ban — RT World News

A Chinese court has barred a smartphone company founder from flying, traveling on high-speed trains, or splashing his cash at luxury hotels and clubs after his company failed to comply with rulings over a contract dispute.

The travel and spending ban on Smartisan Technology’s Luo Yonghao, known for making bombastic claims including that he intended to buy US tech giant Apple, comes after the firm reportedly failed to follow earlier court rulings on a dispute with an electronics company.

The businessman is also not allowed to buy property or send his kids to pricey private schools, under the order.

Smartisan has yet to challenge any of the top five smartphone companies in China, but made something of a name for itself in creating a huge buzz around its launches, even holding a 2018 event at the National Stadium in Beijing and selling around $751,000 in tickets to it. The event set a Guinness World Record for the largest audience at a tech product launch.

Cool and Wet Safari Adventures in Jim Corbett National Park

over a beer on one of the hotel’s patios. It was lovely and cool, just like an early Canadian summer evening – not too warm and not too cold. A soothing breeze cooled whatever heat remained from the stone terrace as we sipped our Kingfisher beers. We couldn’t believe that we were in India! Suddenly, how cool, how livable, how not unbearably hot! We glanced up at the star-filled sky and thought of Ruth, John’s sister, who could tell us where we were in the celestial sky. We revelled in the noiseless, honk-less, people-less-ness of it all. No noise, no pollution, no crowds….no nothing! We don’t dally with this euphoria because we have a wake-up call for 4:30 for our first day of Safari in Jim Corbett National Park.  The Tigers await!

Cancelled!

John shakes me out of sleep at 4:50 am. “Greg, we’ve missed the wake-up call…what the hell’s going on?” I, of course, being completely engaged in what I do so well – sleep – have missed the tumultuous thunder and lightning storm that has engulfed the park overnight. Just our luck – not a lick of rain or even a cloud in the sky for the entire two weeks that we have been in India. Not even a chance of rain in the forecast. It is at least 6 weeks till the monsoon starts. There has been a constant comment on the heat and dryness of the country, and we arrive for our first day of Safari and it rains. The phone rings at 5:00 and a stilted voice tells us that our Safari is cancelled due to rain and to hang on for further information. Ok. I roll over and pull the pillow over my head and proceed as soon as possible back to ZZZZZ land. My favourite place to visit. I hope to live there one day.

The phone rings at 8:15. It’s our stilted friend again telling us that we can do a full day safari today but we must be prepared to be out for the entire day, which is 9:30 – 7:00 and do we have raincoats with us, etc, etc. etc. I agree and roll over again for another half hour. We get up, have breakfast and head out into what is now a completely different weather pattern and onto the Corbett Tiger Reserve.

We officially decide to change our trip to followautumn.com. I have to put on two layers and my rain jacket. I wear short pants on safari and justify it by wearing the two layers and rain gear on top for the trip. I’m a hardy Canadian. My bare legs can take it. It’s India for God’s sake. Everything feels smells and looks like our annual Labour Day retreat to Bluesea Lake in the Gatineau region of Quebec with our friends Bob and Brian. All of a sudden we are in a beautiful, wet, late autumn with hints of a glorious Indian summer. It is the foothills of the Himalayas after all. Talk about a brain fart. By the end of the day, we are both shivering and completely cold with the rain and wind. Our safari vehicle is a big open truck with seats in the back with no windows and no protection. Of course, this viewing situation would be perfect when it is hot and sunny. Just enough protection from the sun but still able to let a nice cooling breeze flow through.

We have seen langur monkeys, rhesus monkeys, deer, both spotted and not, sambar, eagles, herds of wild elephants, mongoose, 2 species of crocodiles, beautiful long-tailed flycatchers, hornbills, peafowl, pheasants, forest fowl, and wild boars, but no tigers! At the mid-point lunch break, a group of Indian tourists out for a Sunday drive in the park say they experienced a “first-class sighting” of a tiger. The base camp suddenly springs into action; each guide wanting his client to catch a glimpse of the elusive Bengal Tiger. This, despite the pouring rain. 4X4’s roar into gear and head out in search of the Tigers. To no avail, it seems. John and I wonder that if all this sudden action actually scares the Tigers away.

The Beating Rain Lulls Us to Sleep

We arrive back to our hotel by 7:00. We have driven over torturous muddy, wet and rut-filled roads. The thunder and lighting are tremendous and we grab hot showers and begin the familiar ritual of packing for the next leg of our journey to Greece and Turkey. We have a quiet dinner in the hotel restaurant. Our lights are out early (as usual) and we listen to the beating rain on the roof of our bungalow.
