Alright before I post any more Battle Addict stuff I should probably explain what a League Council is. Here's a summarized diagram:
Tumblr media
A Pokemon League is a region's network of specialized skilled trainers. It is run by the League Council, which includes finance, HR, marketing, PR, and other managing departments which are divided into different branches depending on who they work with.
Tumblr media
This is all to say that everything gets messy very quickly when news of the diagnosis spreads through the network. Originally the diagnosis was supposed to be private information for only the Battle and League departments, however certain higher ups felt it was a safety risk and notified gym leaders as well in the event of future collaborations.
The network is mostly divided into people who are positive/neutral about the news, and people who feel negatively about the twins as a result. Coworkers who were already familiar/close with the two tend to be positive, or at least supportive, whereas those who didn't know them got another reason to avoid them. Some people think they should go on leave for "recovery", but some are more forward and want them terminated.
If you're wondering where Cynthia falls in this, she's a foreign top league worker (Sinnoh Champion) who is hosted in Unova. Basically she has dept. employees assigned to help her connect to people around the region and get different services if requested. She's basically watching everything unfold from the sidelines, with every interview about her opinion boiling down to "lol if you're scared of people stronger than you then get good". She does also bring up historic accounts of CM/HCCM though, mostly to clarify that CM is not a new or scary thing. She's not for or against the twins, rather just hoping to use this as an opportunity to teach others.
I didn't end up drawing her because I got tired but Elesa got the news too!! She actually got it before everyone else since the twins decided to go tell her beforehand. The general scene basically had Ingo and Emmet deliberating in the car, Ingo telling Emmet it's not too late to turn around and go home while Emmet was hesitant but adamant that they needed to tell her first. She probably took it the worst out of everyone but that's mostly just cause it caught her off guard that her friends would just randomly drop in to deliver the news. She's still rooting for them though, mostly trying to support the Subway with more collaborative events to make the twins look better after the hit from the media. She also tries to rework Emmet's restraints where possible, usually trying to make them look more cohesive with the rest of an outfit or trying to make them less visible (cause as much as Emmet says it's not a big deal it's still the first thing he looks at in his reflection).
Here's them in alt clothes :7

When Budget Is Everything: Pipe And Drape Sets
If you've ever been in an event space that has pipe and drape, it can be a bit intimidating. The sheer size of the set is impressive, but that's not all. Pipe and drape sets are often expensive. However, there's an option for those who don't have a big budget: pipe and drape sets. These smaller-sized sets are great for events on a budget because they allow you more flexibility when designing your event space (without breaking the bank). Here are some reasons why pipe-and-drape sets are perfect for any event!
What Is Pipe And Drape?
Pipe and drape is a system of support structures that are used to create walls, partitions, and other types of enclosures. It is generally used in the entertainment industry for events, theatre, conferences, trade shows, and exhibitions.
Pipes and drapes can be made up of many different components. The most common are metal tubing (including aluminum, and steel), PVC pipes, and metal poles/bars (such as trapezoidal or T-shaped).
Need for Erecting Pipe and Drape
Pipe and Drape is a simple and inexpensive way to transform a space. It is used for events like weddings, birthday parties, and other celebrations. It's also used for trade shows and exhibits. The versatility of Pipe and Drape makes it an amazing tool to have on hand if you're hosting any type of event or even just hanging out at home.
If you've ever wanted to get rid of those unattractive curtains in your house but didn't want to pay hundreds or even thousands of dollars on custom drapes then Pipe & Drape is the perfect solution! You can buy every pipe & drape piece separately so that you only buy what you need instead having multiple color options available at one time which makes things less confusing during installation because there isn't much variation between different styles/patterns either (unless using different fabrics).
Budget Friendly
Pipe and Drape sets are very budget-friendly. In fact, they're cheaper than any other option when it comes to your pipe and drape needs. If you want to save money on the expensive pipe and drape rental fees, this is the way to go!
Portable
Portable pipe and drape sets are a great option for events that will be held in one location, but need to be moved. This is because they're easily transported and can be used for several different events—such as trade shows, conventions, conferences and more.
These portable pipe and drape sets also make it easy to use the same drapery system in both indoor and outdoor settings.
Simple to install
If you have the time and patience, it's a great . There is no heavy lifting involved, as all materials are lightweight and easy to move around. You also don't need any extra tools beyond basic household items like tape measurers, screwdrivers and pliers.
Durable
Pipe and Drape Sets are made of high-quality materials. They're also designed to last. So, you won't have to worry about the set getting damaged in the outdoors or from the elements.
The pipe and drape sets come with a reputation for being durable enough to withstand weather, which makes them a good choice for any outdoor event that requires long-term use. You don't have to worry about having to buy another set right away if something happens at your next big event!
Pipe and Drape Sets are excellent for events on a budget.
When you're planning an event on a budget, pipe and drape sets are excellent choices. They provide room dividers that can be easily moved around to your liking. They're also portable, meaning they can be set up in any location with ease. Another great thing about pipe and drape sets is that they come in various colors and patterns to match any theme or decor style.
Pipe and drape sets are durable enough for long-term use without wearing down too quickly from frequent travel or movement.
These items are perfect for events where the attendees need to be separated into smaller groups or seating areas but don't have enough space for large partitions or walls like folding walls do!
Conclusion
Pipe and Drape Sets are excellent for events on a budget. They are a great option for providing an elegant and sophisticated look to your event without having to spend a fortune. With such an affordable price tag, it's easy to see why these pipe and drapes sets are very popular among event planners who want their events to look more professional

Ever since this virus has gotten more traction, I've - most disagreeably? - found myself going out much more regularly than in the weeks before. Various reasons for this include: 1) getting groceries, 2) getting things before/in the event of things shutting down whenever I think of them so I won't end up unable to get to them indefinitely later, and 3) trying to support small and local businesses in the wake of things going increasingly quiet yet while/during the government's lapse in providing concrete or as-yet-unarrived support so far.
In the absence of the government taking a lead, people have been left to their own devices and to make up their own minds, which is also why the panic buying, imo. This is absolutely, without a doubt, exacerbated by the fact that testing is not being performed extensively, so who the fuck can identify the actually sick? Who knows! Guess we'll just play hella Russian roulette and hope for the best. In the absence of strong guidance, people just... tend to some semblance of normalcy, while it lasts?
But besides that, I've found Australia strangely unamenable to easy online shopping and delivery. Whenever I've had something meant to turn up in the post or delivered directly to me, it's always ended up in my needing to make a trip to the post office during business hours, even though I'm at home almost all of the time. No one ever actually rings the doorbell for parcel deliveries unless it's specified for 'Sign on delivery.' Supermarket grocery delivery is never guaranteed same-day and occasionally I've even seen all slots filled up for the day after, too; and unless you shell out extra, the time it arrives can be set for as vague as 'between 7am and 7pm' with all the possibilities for delays, and you only get told a more specific timeframe when they're maybe an hour from getting to your order, which makes planning your day ridiculously difficult.
So far, while Uber Eats and Deliveroo have waived fees in other countries to encourage people to buy from local eateries, I don't think they've done the same yet here. To this end I've been going out to the cafe and restaurant round the corner more than I've been in the past few days than I have in the whole of the last month or two, and also the Chinese and other Asian businesses I like in the city.
Like... shops and in general businesses, not to mention new ones, like on Bridge Road, have been closing down or opening and then closing, even before the virus came along. I've mentioned repeatedly the empty shops and emptying lots, rising rent, and lack of foot traffic in some areas. And because of the government's lack of quick action in laying down clear steps and follow-up provisions, businesses and individuals are left to themselves? Some shops, seeing flagging sales, have set up sales to draw customers in - I walked by the duty-free shop in the city meant for travellers so they don't have to shop right before departing in the airport the other day, and they were having a 'one-day only sale! No need to travel out of the country to buy!' Now the government's closed the borders, there's fewer international students, some schools have made the decision to close and go online, and usually-busy businesses frequented by those students are experiencing a huge drop.
Because the government seems to be combating the outbreak with more tentative uncertain responses than weighty heft, on some 'lemme just edge a little closer to maybe doing something actually effectual' approach, no one really knows what to expect? Some people are going on like normal for as long as possible, and frankly, in those cases, I would like to support them as far as possible to try to make sure they'll still be there afterwards, whenever that is, while also trying to make sure I manage to get everything I need and think of before anything else changes.
I've also seen a most salient post about how, thanks to the panic buying and delivery chain back-up, people are having to go to the supermarket more because they can't get what they need in one go. Due to restrictions, or lack of stock, or reduced trading hours, or a combination of all of those, people are just. Going out. Again and again.
Then of course there's the homeless people, which they've been mostly ignoring, apparently. On trips into the city at least I can... donate some money to them? Buy them a meal? Offer some wipes?
I know I should, by all rights, be staying in. Yet at the same time, something about that feels irresponsible; I can't just knowingly not put as much money as I can while I can into supporting my local businesses that I want to see still there after all this has hopefully blown over. It's selfish of me but in other cases, I also can't get the groceries I want without going into the city - whether for cheaper groceries because delivery costs, and in a time where M is most definitely not going to get a job now, or because my groceries and comfort food that will be essential in prolonged periods of squirrelling at home are mainly from Asian grocers that might not do delivery or have their entire stock online. Without being able to drive, I can't get away from using public transport to get to the most accessible supermarket. And again, in a country where the options are between 'No same-day delivery' with a delivery fee, which is often relatively substantial considering delivery averages $10 nationwide for most things, and 'go into store to get it within the next two hours', it's a lot more sensible and cost-efficient to do the latter while it's still possible.
It's 3am and I am very tired and possibly going in circles in what I'm saying and you know, the thing is, I am very most likely going to go into the city another couple times in the next week regardless. But what I am trying to get at is that if the government had a better handle on testing, on being authoritative and stepping up, and is actually adequately governing aka doing its job, it would not be entirely on the people to Do The Right Thing or even to be faced with such choices. It would not be releasing people positively identified as having contracted the virus back into their community and not keeping them under observation without exception. An article I read noted that who knows if these people are having 'quarantine parties' with their mates?
And yet every article I have read about Australia closing its borders or about the spread of the virus in Australia has, without fail, repeatedly cited the notion that "the majority of cases in Australia have been imported by travellers and those who have come into contact with them."
Like, no shit. The virus originated in Wuhan, China. All the cases most everywhere else were imported. This is how this stuff happens. But it's in your damn country now, so yeah you can say it was all imported and close your borders, but now, now it's your people in the country spreading it amongst people in the country. Let's see how you blame this one on cases jumping up after the borders have been shut. Imported fleas? Imported test kits?
They're plainly blaming it on Chinese people and non-Australians/whites, very thinly-veiled, by emphasising its 'importedness' 'by foreigners'. As if the cases in Italy or Singapore or Hong Kong were somehow spontaneous generation or teleportation of the virus from Wuhan; in fact its suggestive of the virus being endemic to Asian people when worded in such a way in this context Australian news insists on hammering away at.
I got some Looks today, and yesterday, too, on my way into the city to stock up on more groceries. Another reason I am so often in the city: without being able to drive and paying $16 and up for parking in the city, you can only take public transport; and there is only so much stuff I can carry in one go. (I was thinking about getting more rice, like 1kg for Staying At Home For A Prolonged Time, but 1kg of rice plus the rest of my groceries? God, I'd really be a coolie.)
There are also still buskers in the city, I've noticed - including some people I also want to support. People are still going to work almost like normal at Daiso and Chemist Warehouse, it seems. I realise another reason I end up in the city so much is that my drive to save money and not buy too much stuff 'I don't need' is in opposition to 'buy everything you can think of possibly even wanting or needing now and don't go out too many separate times'. And at the same time it's not like it's a good time not to be money-conscious.
Look - what I'm saying is I don't know what is the 'best' or 'most right' thing for me to do. I want us all to be well, and right now leaving the shops that are still open empty or the people still going out trying to make a living doesn't sound much more soothing either.
This feels reminiscent of the 'consumers of XYZ are adding to climate change! Stop using plastic straws!' and shifting the onus to the individual rather than governments taking up genuine measures.
If the government were to say, decisively, tomorrow, that we were all to stay in - and I check every morning to see if this has happened - and for shops to shut, then I would follow that. But as it stands, what I am most aware of is just... people struggling? Homeless people getting less change at a time when they need it most, business owners and employees worried about making ends meet.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
P.S. I am being as responsible as I can. I am keeping my grubby little paws to myself as much as possible.
So far reasons I have been into the city/just out are:
1. Need new camera battery charger. (City.)
2. 'Oh I should really check how uncle at the cafe around the corner is doing. :l' (Cafe around corner.)
3. '...I need mosquito spray and these mosquitoes look like the ones in Singapore that carry dengue.' (Trip to convenience store.)
4. Vague sense of 'Oh I better get some groceries.' + 'Yes, I will go to the nice Asian grocer where the guy recognises me and always says hi and whom I like.' (City.)
5. 'Uhm wait no I should Actually Stock Up On Everything I Could Possibly Want (realising I had completely common response cravings for comfort food in the face of major 'what is going on???' + my way of feeling less worried about or not being at home in Singapore, aka Taiwanese sausage day) and they don't deliver/oh shit I forgot something/wait no they didn't have what I needed I have to go again/go to the other place/what if there is a quarantine and I can't get this food any more then?????' (City, in an obvious somewhat getting flustered.)
6. 'Yes Japanese restaurant owner I will eat at your shop every possible chance I can get now I am emotionally invested and you are very nice yes I would like very much for you to stay open.' x3 something like that. (Down the road from mine.)
7. Uhm what is this $40/mth charge on my card what the - right okay fuck the only people I can ask is supermarket employees?
So what I am now realising is that in the face of imminent possible prolonged isolation and uncertainty my response has been an escalating 'Wait let me go see the people I care about and also give them my money' and attempting to soothe myself through familiar food in a staggering of 'I want this food that has just come to mind that is comforting to me' over a few days, and stocking up.
In my defence I don't have these people's numbers...? They're people whose shops I frequent?
