Imagine an AU where Texas didn’t get away the night her family home burned.

Still too valuable to be killed, she does end up under the auspice of the Rossati’s, giving much more credence to their claims of being the heirs to the Texas family position upon being ordered to return to Siracusa.

Given their relationship Giovanna is tasked with keeping tabs on Texas at all times, effectively becoming the handler of her once close friend. Neither of them have the pull to sway the powers that be at this point, so Texas remains a prisoner in a gilded cage and Giovanna her reluctant jailer. They remain close in proximity but there’s always the distance of Giovanna’s duty and Texas’s trauma wedged between them like a shared albatross around the neck.

All of this backed and enforced by the institutional power of the famiglia and Lady Sicily.

Texas never gets away, never goes to Lungmen, never finds the friends and support of Penguin Logistics. Texas never gets the chance to heal and become a different person, just stays in the place that took everything from her with no choice but to keep working for institutions that let it happen.

Imagine what kind of emotionally stunted, caustic person that would turn Texas into.

All of that, is what happened to Mostima.
